"No." He replied sternly, with a look sour enough to cross every single one of Finn's requirements off the list as a total write-off. With a sigh and a small shake of his head he relaxed again, as much as Ripley could relax.

"The first two I can supply any time, the latter…won't come from me for a couple of days yet." He both offered and warned; booze and cigs were fine, but the physical effort that goes with a good lay was not something he imagined Finn was ready for. Plus, he wanted his wounds to heal before he let the other man touch him again. There was something about having gory bite marks on your person when the one who bit-to-kill you tended to be on top of you on a semi-regular basis.

"A lot." Was his only helpful response to the bit about the contractors.

One thing he did learn though, was that his hair was finally long enough to tie back again. It was a small pony tail, perhaps only an inch or two, but it counted. Plus, he learned he did actually have raggedy clothes in his possession. Granted, they were the once-torn-from-nearly-dying-and-since-patched type that made him look like a grumpy hobo, but at least he wouldn't ruin any of his good threads over something silly like free labour.

"Walls." He wanted nothing to do with that window, thank you. The pail and tools were grabbed, and he surveyed the wall for the worst of the damage, which would be his starting point.

Crap.

Finn had wanted the walls. Walls were so much easier than windows.

This is probably what he got for providing a choice...also for asking for help to begin with, really.

With a sigh that was entirely internal, he moved out of the way to let Ripley grab the wall patching supplies, heading towards the window where a new pane of glass, cut to size, was leaning against the wall. While Finn himself had never actually replaced a window before (which was why he assumed the walls were easier) he still wasn't willing to pay somebody else to do it.

He was sure he could figure it out.

"So. No more weird a** masked-like shadow things going on?" He asked, from around his cigarette.

Meanwhile, Ripley spotted the largest crack in the drywall and set to work patching that one. He'd already gotten started when Finn's question broke the silence, and though he didn't look at the other man in any way, he still shook his head slightly.

"No." Which was probably a good thing, really. As strange as it was. "Not yet, anyway." He added under his breath, being more realistic about the situation. Anything that happened on Deus tended to become a long-term thing, it was simply a matter of when. "You? Any red-eyed rage or craving human flesh?"

Finn got to work first by putting on a pair of thick work gloves he had procured at some point, before grabbing the shards of glass, large and small, that were still attached to the window frame, to wiggle and wrench them free. They were deposited into a nearby bucket.

He glanced over his shoulder at Ripley, taking another long inhale of his cigarette and smiling.

"I don't know. You've been with me through nearly every one of my waking moments since then. What do you think? Am I any more bitchy than usual?"

"Yes." Ripley replied without even thinking about it. "But under the circumstances, to be expected." His room did get damaged, his things broken, and they were steadily running out of alcohol. Plus neither of them had a place to retreat to when they wanted to be alone…but so far, that aspect wasn't too terrible. At least so far. They were handling it just fine.

"You might be sick though." He stopped what he was doing, so he could look over his shoulder at Finn without ruining his work. "You left the human flesh comment alone."

Finn let out a dismissive grunt, shrugging his shoulders, while he turned back to the task at hand. It wasn't as if he could even really argue with the other man.

"Interesting that even as a raging cannibal, yours is the only flesh I want."

There, he said it. But after saying it, the thought struck him that he was admitting to being content with just Ripley.

Which led to another thought entirely, one that he had, for a time shoved from his mind, only to have it resurface again now.

"You know, speaking of flesh, you should be more careful who you share yours with. Apparently people can't keep their mouths shut about things like that, which makes our don't ask don't tell rule pretty ******** moot, really." He finished his cigarette and butted it out in the same bucket that the discarded glass was going into.

"Indeed." He agreed distantly, recognizing the admittance for what it was, and pondering what it meant - though he understood it completely. It simply seemed strange to him, somehow, despite it all, that their relationship would have progressed to that point. The one where neither of them wanted more than what they had. He didn't get too long to dwell on the subject as it were, as Finn sprung to another, but similar, subject.

Ripley knew exactly who Finn was talking about almost instantly. On this island, his experiences with 'sharing his flesh' included all of two people - and one of them was in the room with him at that moment. So, it seemed that Chance had said something to Finn. That struck him as being quite odd, when he thought about it. Of all people, he figured the star-struck man would understand, and keep it under the radar.

It was rather disappointing that he hadn't, if he were being honest with himself.

"To be fair, that rule encompassed hearing about it from me. Whatever someone else says is beyond the parameters of the agreement and not a fault of mine." Despite this, there was something rather uncomfortable with the knowledge that Finn had heard about his only other encounter. It wasn't like the other man was entirely monogamous in the past either. Still, he heaved a small sigh, nudging his glasses back up his nose with the back of his wrist.

"…I've no interest in sharing anyway." He admitted after a brief lull, absently dragging the drywall knife along the damaged wall, smoothing drywall plaster over it.

The fact that it took Finn so long to bother bringing up at all likely spoke volumes about how much he really didn't care, but then again, for all Ripley knew, this was information that the Moon hunter might have just gotten that very morning, and had just been looking for the right moment to bring it up.

He smirked at Ripley's reply, and shrugged his shoulders. "I can't argue with you there. This island is just too ******** small. It's a miracle we managed to keep what we've been doing under wraps from so many for so long." Though he really no longer saw the need to hide it, he still respected Ripley's need for privacy enough to keep it to himself.

What Ripley said next earned him a small pause, and another glance, this one coupled with a small frown. It was true that Finn hadn't really had the urge to be with anybody else, as it seemed rather pointless when he was quite happy with what he was already getting on a fairly regular basis. But the rule was there for a reason, and as much as it was beginning to feel like it was a rather pointless one.....

He frowned more.

"Sharing me or sharing yourself?" He asked, for clarifications sake.

"I'm sure they have more interesting things to gossip about anyway." He could think of several other instances that required more attention than their relationship.

"Myself." He clarified, clearly and precisely. Between work, his own alone time and the time he spent with Finn, he didn't have the time to 'share' himself with others. Plus, he was content with what they had, though he still felt the need to keep it to themselves. That issue was his own, where he didn't like opening himself up to others.

"Have you been on twitter? All these people care about is sex and who's doing it and who's available for it and.." He let his voice trail off, shaking his head because really, he could have just stopped at twitter.

More broken glass clinked into the bucket, the last few pieces, and Finn removed his gloves, wiping at his brow, thinking about how his room could use an a/c unit.

For a moment, he was silent as he mulled over what Ripley had to say.

"See, now that's a testament to how ******** amazing in bed I must be, not that there was ever any debate. Nobody can compare, so why even bother?" He grinned, moving to the fridge to get a bottle of water, fishing out a second before turning and moving over to Ripley and offering it to him.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 18, 2015 9:47 pm

"I actively avoid it." It was easier on his mind that way. No watching Chel horrifically misspell his name when she was teasing Finn about relations; and, more importantly, no watching Finn flirt. It just helped to avoid it. "Unless there are direct messages." He amended, for obvious reasons. Not a moment later saw Finn raving about his talents, and Ripley just continued to work, rolling his eyes at the wall. Until, of course, he heard the fridge, and turned his gaze to see the offered bottle.

"Or," Ripley started firmly, as he was known to do. "To how overwhelmingly exhausting you are to be around." It might not have had anything to do with Finn's sexual prowess at all, when you came right down to it. Still, he took the offered water, and set down the drywall knife so he could open it. "To your ego." The bottle raised in a mock cheer, before being brought to his lips for a long swig.

"That could also be taken as a good thing, by the way." He pointed out with a smirk. "Exhausting because of how great and talented I am, leaving you completely satisfied in every way." The smirk became a grin, and he opened up his bottle for a nice long drink before he spoke again.

"Guess it doesn't matter how you meant it, I must be doing something right if you're still around, bite marks and all."

A small pause. "It didn't really bother me, you know, to find out about Chance, but we can nix the rule if you want. I'm not really interested in sharing myself anymore either, anyways. You might not want to say it about me, but I'm pretty ******** happy with you." It was easier to say now, when it used to be difficult to even think about before.

But he had to wonder if that was really a good idea, or if he would start to feel trapped again like he did with Fini, and if the rules were really what made things work, even if at least one was no longer necessary. What if he changed his mind? What if Ripley changed his?

He shook his head. "Ah, whatever, I guess it doesn't matter."

Ripley didn't reply, and instead let Finn talk until he felt he was done. He had a good point, of course. Even with the negatives (their personalities, the infections that turned one of them into a zombie and the other into a paranoid nutcase…) he liked it. He did keep coming back, and he kept wanting to come back. His silence continued as Finn's small pause turned into an admittance, and he turned to fully face him, watching him passively as he spoke about Chance, the rules, and just how content he was with what they had. He was glad that finding out about Chance didn't bother him; it was something that happened while they were on the rocks, after all.

"I think we need to keep that rule." Ripley replied, after a moment of thought on the subject. "Just in case." While he was happy, and saw the rule as a useless one, having it there just seemed like a good idea. It was a safety net, though they didn't necessarily need it right now, there was no telling if they would in the future. Neither of them, despite working very well together, were terribly great at relationships. Somewhere down the line, he suspected one of them would feel trapped…or one of them would start a fight. It was inevitable, and so he felt they needed the rules.

"But…for what it's worth, I'm pretty ******** happy with you, too." He offered a small smile.

The past few days, Finn had likely been a bit distant, a bit short, a bit grumpy, and very, very sick. It was a nice change of pace to start to feel at ease again, and to just be able to talk about things that he and Ripley didn't normally discuss. It wasn't exactly a bad thing, he knew, that they didn't talk about subjects like this often. It seemed like, for the most part, they simply had a silent, mutual understanding of one another, one that just did not require any of that shmoopy, cheesy, overly-romantic-gesture-y crap. If either of them weren't happy, they simply would have left.

And Finn wasn't one to want to delve into what it might actually mean for them that they had managed to last this long despite both having rather abrasive attitudes (both in different ways).

Still...it was kind of nice, in it's own way, to say what he was thinking out loud and to have it in the open.

"Just in case." he nodded, and gave a light shrug of his shoulders. It made sense, even he had already been starting to see that shortly after he said it. Maybe the rule wasn't necessary, but it allowed for escape, it allowed for what they had to still have that open door that he could walk out of if necessary, even if just for a night. If they were both still okay with it, than what was the harm?

He was jolted out of his thoughts by a rather rare thing, then. It wasn't so much Ripley's words (as pleasantly surprising as they were) but that smile, that small smile that Finn had grown to appreciate, an expression that Ripley did not wear often.

"Good." His on smile in response was really more of a smirk, but there was a hint of warmth in his tone.

"When we're finished here, we should go off island for a drink. Or ten."
