I scream, you screamHe'd come in once before, while she was out. He'd fussed over her hair and held her hand for a bit, checked her chart and promised her he'd come back when she woke. And he did come back, all smiles and Shiloh. He had a blanket over his arm, and an extra pillow and he set them down on the end of her infirmary bed without ceremony, shooting her a grin. "Morning sunshine, glad to see you're still kicking," he said, pulling up a chair so he could sit next to her. "I brought you a little surprise."

Hurt"Of course I'm bored. I can't do anything. And I'm being told they won't even take the bandages off for like, almost a week. I'm pretty sure I won't survive being able to look at myself for that long." She paused, and slid her fingers between his in both hands. "If I die, donate one of my plushies to every grouchy hunter. The big one goes to Cami. You already got yours, though. So you can just have one of my dresses. In case, you know. The mood strikes."

Zombie Friends For Life"It is exhausting, but it's worth it." The conversation was starting to sour her, because as much as she loved her self-confidence, her face was wrapped in bandages. She had no idea if she still was beautiful. Or if she'd ever consider herself such again. Then the girl had to remind Maebe of who she was, and the other insecurities the girl made Maebe feel, so she turned her body away from Creedence's voice. "I didn't do it for you." Now her voice was razor sharp, and the amusement was gone.

Birds of a feather "WHAT?!" Maebe's hands flew up out of instinct, and then slammed down onto the bed the next second - when she remembered she couldn't see them anymore. "Jesus Christ, Pey." She whined, holding out her hands. " Help."

I scream, you scream Maebe did not respond to the sound of someone coming until they spoke directly to her. Her head turned towards Shiloh, and her hands reached out immediately at the talk of a surprise. "What is it. Gimme gimme." Having her entire head covered in bandages clearly did not stop her need for material possessions.

Lawrence had managed to go the entire attack without getting himself wounded because of course he had. This meant that when everyone hit the infirmary with their various war wounds he found himself actually busy. It was a pleasant feeling, liberating in its way, and he was at least well versed in dressing wounds and tending to patients (even if the patients he was used to were prone to chewing on their own dressings) Some of the hunters in the facility might well have benefited from a "cone of shame" now and then, he felt.
Reaching what at first appeared to be another unfamiliar mess of bandages in a long line of them, Lawrence picked up the clipboard at the end of Maebe's bed, skimmed it briefly and then set it back.
"Just here to check your bandages over darlin." the familiar voice drawled. "Just what happened to ya? Hit by a train? Sorry that was just a bit of that old fashioned bedside manner, I'm not used tah talkin' while I work."

"A week!?" He looked horrified. "s**t.... I'm really... really.. really sorry.." ******** he hoped he hadn't done damage. "No. I want all the plushies. You'd be dead. You can't stop me." As if he'd want a damn dress! Sure, Otto had minor feminine tendencies he declined to admit to, but cross dressing was off the table. He rather liked looking like a guy, and dressing like a guy. "I wonder if Cami is okay..." Otto murmured aloud. "I haven't seen her much. Been kinda worried to face her."

GorgeousShe heard the clipboard move, and perked. Was someone checking on her? Did that mean a new dose of painkillers? Or maybe some company, at the very least? The answer was yes to the second, but not the kind of company she had been hoping for. Her entire body froze when she heard that drawl, that darlin' wash over her body the way his hands once had, and for the first time ever, she was glad he couldn't see her face behind the bandages. She forced herself to lay back down, feigning relaxation. "If hunters hit like trains, then it might as well have been. You know how it is, with us." Her throat went dry when she used the word us. "Always making such a mess."

Hurt"You'd better be." She teased him. "You'd better visit me like, every half hour, and bring me toys, and read Twitter to me, and if they allow conjugal visits in here, I get that too." She did not like the idea of him getting all the plushies. "Don't be selfish, Otto. We already learned how to share. If you're really good, you can have one." She sat back when he finally thought of Cami, and frowned. "How long has it been since you've spoken to her?"

"A hunter did this to you?" he sounded utterly aghast at the thought. "Such brutality. Was it one of the nice ones? I bet it was, it is always the nice ones that you really do have to watch." He moved over to her and with surprising dexterity for a man with one hand, set about refreshing some of the more superficial dressings on her injuries. He was incredibly gentle and efficient, showing a capacity for tenderness that she had never once been privy to.
"I'm in Life now." he said. "But it doesn't take me being a doctor to tell that you were a mess long before you got hit by that train lil lady." and there was a deliberate and singular moment when the gentle hand turned surprisingly vicious, pressing into the subsurface ley line of a wound with accuracy that was a startling bolt of agony before simply returning to the previous gentle attentions as if that painful lightning had never struck.
"I'd be mighty surprised if you hadn't earned it somehow or other. You gonna tell me a story?"

GorgeousShe would have answered him, if his hands had not brushed against her skin to change the bandages. Without knowing the touch was coming, it made her suck in a breath between her teeth, but she knew what he was doing, and she forced herself to calm down once more. This was the job. This was just the job, and nothing was going to happen in such a public place. This would be fine. Her body arched off the bed an inch when the pain hit, and she knew that nothing about this was going to be fine. He wasn't going to get a story out of her. He wasn't going to get pleasant conversation. She wasn't giving him this. "No." She rasped out, pulling her arm away. "And my bandages are fine. Thanks so much for your help."

He did not seem even remotely phased by her pulling her arm away and rolling his eyes, he sought to pull it back to him. He had dealt with plenty of aggressive bitches in his line of work and right now, Maebe was just another one of them with less fur and smaller teeth. It was only a pity that she couldn't be muzzled.
"We can do this the easy way or the hard way lil missy." he said. "This is a cursory once over, for your own benefit. I'll appreciate your co-operation on this matter, but for the most part it is optional." He tutted. "I do have other people to see and your lil mutiny might get in the way of their care. I know y'all're selfish, but just how far are you going to go?"

GorgeousShe knew full well he was bullshitting, and all he wanted to do was slide under her skin because it was too thin, too easy to ******** with. Did she even have a choice? He wouldn't have bothered to make a show of it, if she did. "You know better than to think appealing to my sense of social duty is going to do s**t all." She muttered, her arm moving back to where it was. "I was just saving you the trouble. If I thought there was anything wrong, believe me, you'd be the first to know." Was there call button for a doctor? Her hand was sliding under the gurney, searching with nimble fingers for something. Anything. Hell, she'd pull a fire alarm if she could.

Mystery VisitThomas did not like being stuck in bed. And so, whenever he could, and no matter how much it hurt his burnt limbs to do so, he would sneak out and have a little wander around the infirmary, stopping to chat with those who looked like they could use some company, while also keeping an eye out for anybody he might know well, before he was ultimately caught by a nurse or a doctor and sent back to his own bed. On one such excursion, he found himself ducking into a curtained off room just before one of the Life doctors could see him, his lips quirking into a mischievous smile before he turned, a single, whispered "Sorry!" On his tongue, though it was choked off the moment he saw the patient that was lying in her bed. With her face bandaged up like that, he was not so sure she could even realize the intrusion. He was about to leave, quietly, hopefully having not disturbed her, when something stopped him. He did not know her, he was sure, but she was alone, and maybe even frightened! It did not sit well with him to leave. "Ah, hello?" He said, softly, his voice lilted with his Italian accent, as he moved to sit in a nearby chair. "Are you awake?"

"Surely I don't need to remind you that with your eyes covered, you are hardly a judge of what it wrong or isn't with you. Even without your eyes covered you have proven to be blind time and time again. Do you even know the extent of your injuries this time?" He found himself restlessly irritated by her disobedience and by having his task withheld from him. If they were anywhere else, particularly somewhere without intense surveillance, she would be expertly cared for regardless of how she personally felt about the matter.
"Is this some personal grudge?" he said matter of factly. "If you are afraid of me or something trivial like that, I can arrange to have one of my peers take over. I simply had a vested interest in your well-being and you were on my shift sheet." he did not reach out to take her hand again. "But I suppose if you are in one of your self pity spirals lady then you might benefit from someone soft, someone who believes you."
