"At the risk of sounding like a door to door religious witness... Does this mirror court of yours ever talk about Princess Serenity? Do you know who she is?" She paused in her story while watching the other young woman, taking a seat on the ground beneath the tree so that she could lean back against its slender trunk. "We were looking for her too; awaiting her return. The tree was looking for her too, actually." Another brief smile of disbelief as she listened to herself, shaking her head once more. "I haven't thought about all of this in such a long time... It was so much easier to just try and push it back; to focus on what is, as opposed to what was."

Shaking her head, Namaka wondered what a princess had to do with anything.
"Never heard of her and I've never heard Leto or Remarque talking about her either. Who is she?"
This was definitely getting more interesting. Awaiting her return? The phrasing made it sound almost religious. Maybe akin to the way she would sometimes overhear older members of the Court talking about Ares returning.
"Wait. Wait. The tree was looking for this lady too? How could a tree know who anyone is? Even if it can come to life and drain people. Trees haven't got brains!"
By this point, Namaka was well invested in the story, regardless of how weird it had just gotten. And it had the added bonus of being real. This emotional lady had seen these things. It boggled the mind taken all together.

"This tree was alive. All trees are alive, I know that, but this one... This one was sentient. It came from another place and it brought its children to earth in hopes that Princess Serenity would be able to heal them, heal it as she once had before. Its children, the aliens, were summoning creatures to steal energy in order to..." She laughed, shaking her head as she rested her hand against the young tree. "Not all creatures of the dark are that way of their own choosing. Some of them have been tainted; tempted away from the light and corrupted. The tree was seeking purification for itself, for her children.... And the Negaverse slaughtered them all. The tree sacrificed itself to save us to return the kindness our Princess had once shown it. It had been attacking Eridanus and then it let him go, let the others go, in order to save us." Her laughter ceased, voice dropping low. "Redemption is possible. You can toe the line between the light and dark and still be redeemed."

Namaka felt her jaw drop at this rather shocking little tidbit. Suddenly, it didn't matter anymore whether the tree could talk or think or move on it's own. It had sacrificed itself and it's own children... All for the sake of an old favor!
There was a nobility that she had to admire in that action, even as the thought of it tugged at her heart.
"I've... seen some of the Negaverse at work before," she said in a soft whisper, thinking of the boy with the knives. "I think I can imagine how far their sense of kindness would stretch."
Without thinking about it, Namaka extended a hand to give the older girl's knee a sympathetic pat. To have seen and lived through something like that. This girl was stronger than she gave herself credit for.
"I would say that the Tree redeemed itself in that one, last action. And if it could talk and think, I think that means it had a soul. And souls like that don't just vanish into the ether. Just like your friend."
She allowed the remark about light and dark to settle into her mind to percolate. It was a fascinating thought and one that she wanted to give herself over to once she was home and snuggled down into her bed.

"If that's the truth, I hope I am still around to see them both again." She murmured softly, tilting her head up to peer through the small branches and the odd leaves of the young tree only to close her eyes. Corvus sat in silence for a moment, vulnerable and reflecting before opening her eyes to peer at the young woman once more. "I don't know a whole lot about your Mirror Court beyond bits and pieces that I've heard passed around... But I know the Negaverse, and I know darkness. Don't let that become you."

Blinking a little in surprise, Namaka did a rapid internal scan. She didn't think she was in danger of becoming like the people in the Negaverse. At least, she hoped she wasn't. It was one more thing that merited a fair amount of thinking.
"I won't," she murmured. "I won't ever be like that."
In the end, it was the only possible answer she could make.

The Senshi of Vengeance stood, taking a moment to dust herself off before glancing to Namaka once more. "This isn't an offer that I make lightly, but in the name of old souls and familiar faces... I am Eternal Sailor Corvus, and should you find yourself in trouble, I will assist you if I can. I generally patrol this area at least once a week. Most people don't notice a message left in the branches." She turned, taking a few steps away from the other scout and the tree. "Don't make me regret it."

Feeling both touched and mildly terrified at the offer and the threat, Namaka simply nodded and did her best to look as harmless as possible. Which was very. She had a feeling that any attempt to verbally reassure Corvus would only make her more uneasy. So, she got to her own feet and rasied one hand in a tiny salute.
"I will keep that in mind, Corvus. Thank you for the story. I promise I won't forget."
She took her own steps back, moving carefully, as if afraid to disrupt the fragile truce that had been called. Once she was far enough from the tree and from Corvus, she turned and bolted, wanting nothing more than to be home safe.
