[ ★★★ [PAST] - Verona, The longing ★★★ ] Setting: Past Life
Verona shifted uncomfortably in the line of cosmos knights. It was the first time she had seen so many gathered since she was given the title of Verona and a small group and city to protect. Though they were artist and not very combative, she was skilled with her glaive. A glaive she took up not in the honor of the kingdom of cosmos.
Her back straightened as music flowed from the castle throne room, signaling the arrival of the queen of stars. Her towering form of 6' joined that of even the strongest of men, her long hair decorated with starlight charms and died at the tips in abundace of rainbow colors. She blended well with the other cosmos knights, but for one fleeting moment.
Just one fleeting moment, she hoped to be noticed.
-----
Her bright silver eyes soaked in the radiance of the Queen, from the spun silver gown to the long flowing white hair. The snug fit gown, and the gentle and caring look. Just once, she wanted that gaze to land on her like it had the first time they had met.
“So you are from earth. Sent here to be protectors. Knights.” Cosmos's voice was gentle, even gentler than the tip of her fingers that drew a younger Verona's gaze up. She had no name at that time, her ragged mess of blonde hair pulled into a tight bun, her face unshed of beauty. She didn't want to be here, sent here like pigs for trade. She had joined Knighthood for fame and glory and riches.
But as her gaze was drawn up, her heart ached in what it say in Cosmos's eyes. A understanding, deep as the galaxy itself. She held her breath, as Cosmos fingertips brushed against her cheek. And then the touch was gone, and the queen had moved on.
But Verona had not.
-----
Nights would pass in the starry kingdom, and from the balcony, Verona could hear the sad songs of her city, as well as the happy songs. Forlorn lovers, new lovers. The rainbow tree that stood in the center of their town decorated with wishes and dreams and hopes of love to come. She supposed, it was fitting, that she would be sitting with the glass flute, filled with golden liqiud that would eventually lull her to sleep.
And in sleep she would dream of the one person she always wished to be with.
In her sleep, there was soft kisses and embraces. In her sleep, there was long walks along the milky ways and the asteroid belts. There was no need for war or titles. No need for Knights and Queens. It was just...Cosmos and Verona.
Verona took no lovers, because she had no more heart to give. She told herself it was worth it, as she saluted the tree of rainbows and laughed pathetically, returning to her bed alone. As it had always been, Alone. As it would always be...Alone.
There was no Romeo and Juliet. Just a Romeo...with no Juliet.

[ ★★★ [SOLO] - Verona, The Awakening ★★★ ] Setting: Present
Verona's Awakening:
Her body twisted, bent, twisted again. Her arms shook at her sides as music blared loudly from the headphones hanging around her neck. It was 3 am. Jarias wasn't tired yet. She was never tired yet. There was one more club, one more bar that she could go to. She could return home at 6am, crash in bed for 6 hours and head off to work. It wasn't a big thing.
So walking through the city at 3am with headphones blaring was nothing new, it was her club outside of club. She get hollered at by the creeps out, looking for trouble. She'd flip the bird and know that the reason they never came closer was because she out heighted them. 6' foot lean blonde, rainbow tips. Her 2 inch boots only added the height, and her outfits came dangerously close to revealing a little too much.
Luckily for her though, she was trained in self defense, taking that and many more courses in her short time of DCU. If she ever wanted to get in music business, she needed to know how to defend herself from rabid fans right?
She laughed at the thought of beating back the screaming and crying fans. That was until-
“YESSSSSSSSSSS THIS IS MY JAMMMMMMMMM” She put the headphones now, stopping in the middle of the empty street to shake her a**. She sang loudly, but didn't care if someone called the cops on her. She only lived once right?
She would turn again, almost tripping over an object that seemed to magically appear in front of her. The brown basket with white cloth on the inside was everything BUT magical, so for it to just appear made Jarias huff.
“What kind of dumb d**k leaves a basket in the middle of the street?” She picked it up. The minute her hand touched the handle, her tight club dress was replaced with some frilly white thing, sparkling. She felt the weight of a necklace around her neck, her boots disappeared and were replaced with 3 inch white heels. And lastly, she felt the drop of the smoothest water silk scarf over her arms, with a rainbow hue that matched her hair.
The only words she could seem to get out, now that she was musicless and not her clothes less was...
“OH MY GOD WHAT HAPPENED?”

------ SQUIRE STAGE SOLO'S ---- [ ★★★ [SOLO] - Jarias, feeling some feelings.★★★ ] Setting: PresentJarias had woken from a dream, and she wasnt' sure she was happy about it. The nights were dimming down, and the hours were becoming later for her. She felt the crisp chill of fall, and blew a breath between her hands. Yeah, nights were ******** now.
She had to think of the bills now. Winter was the hardest time for her, because her car was old. It could freeze easily. Heating would be through the worth too, she hated having her apartment down below 70. California snob? Sure. She'd probably need to take another job.
Bouncing was good money, but she was living off the rest of the settlement funds from her parents. Rich assholes. Paid her to leave, but whatever. She took the money and made a good life for herself. She mentally calculated all the bills she had, adding together all the stuff and sighed.
It looked like another job was in her future. How was she going to manage with her two jobs and being powered? She didn't know. Added to that, there was the new and confusing feelings she was messing with.
A redheaded mess of curls and milky caramel brown skin instantly popped up and she groaned. The other bouncer, Timmy, looked at her with a raised brow and then away. It wasn't often that Jarias was in her own world, but when he needed her, she'd be back. He shifted to move closer to the door.
Meanwhile, Jarias was thinking of Van. The quiet words, the passionate night. She was having a terrible time of trying to NOT think of the woman. And like, how long had it been since she had actually pined for someone else? Like the one night and day didn't seem like enough. She wanted to know more about Van. What other things did she like? How did she spend her days? What kind of hobbies did she have? Did she read comics? Was she a nerd?
God, she just couldn't get her mind off amber eyes and a melodic laugh. Sweet smile and tight body. She was waiting, and wanting and it was driving her insane. She laughed, smiling at the next comers for the club and then waved them in. Timmy following suit.
What was Van up to right now? Was she at another club? What if some dude caught her eyes? Or god forbid, another girl? Jarias loved to sleep around, but she prided herself on being more then just a casual experiment. What if that was it? Casual experimentation because she had been convenient? Damn that was really upsetting! Her smile turned to a scowl in a second and made Timmy laugh.
“You got a lot on the brain, don't you Rainbow.” Timmy rubbed his arms as the cold seemed to settle again.
“Thinking about a girl.” Jarias muttered and had Timmy laughing again, “Don't we all? Girl's are tricky-” laugh started again, “s**t I sometimes forget you are one. Have you called her yet?”
Jarias looked away.
“Not yet.”
Timmy laughed again.
“Maybe before you think about the worse case, you call her up?” He shrugged and made her sigh.
Yeah...yeah she should.

[ ★★★ [SOLO] - Verona meets Verona.★★★ ] Setting: PresentVerona had never been to her wonder. In all her time as a knight and, in her time of being a squire, she had yet to actually go to the so called place she was named after. Honestly, she was enjoying her civilian life more. She was enjoying having this...serious thing with Van. The sleeping over, the dinners, the sex. All of it was just so good, and she didn’t wanna ruin it. She was trying hard not too.
And for some reason, she had a sense of foreboding about her wonder. As if going there was just trouble waiting to happen. But she needed to go, and get her signet ring and deal with all her knighthood, so she cracked down and finally took the plunge. She swore her oath and closed her eyes, the feeling of earth leaving and being replaced was so fast that she thought it was just a giant hoax. She was gonna say some words to Hver and Babylon about their homeworld spiels but as she opened her eyes, she was greeted with the sight of old stone walkways and buildings. The air was rich with soil and fern and a hint of something sweet. She didn’t have pockets to tuck her hands in, so she twirled her weapon uselessly and walked down the way. Her heels clicked on the stone.
It was dead quiet. She hated dead quiet. Maybe once upon a time, the city was color and light and sounds but now it was just overgrowth and quietness. She could tell it was on the outskirts of the domain that was Cosmos, because she could see a far away distant castle, and because from her understand from Hver, Cosmos was more than just a princess in a castle.
Her heels kept clicking as she walked, through old alleys, and waterways until she came to a large opening of canals that surrounded a large tree. Withered and old, branches spread into the distance reach of the starry sky. At first she didn’t pay it any mind.
But the closer she got, something sickening and wrong she felt.
And then it felt like she had been smacked in the head, The flashes of multiple memories playing. It left her weak and she hit her knee’s, waiting for the sudden flux of them to disappear.
----------
She finally achieved knighthood. It rang with the flourish of her cape, and the newly appointed duties she was assigned. But with her knighthood came the very moment she had waited forever.
To see Cosmos herself, to see the queen she devoted herself. In a line of knights that were awaiting their new titles, Isidora was standing proud. When she had first joined the knighthood, she had been a scraggly blonde slave girl, with no more meat on her bone’s then a fawn. She had been weak and stupid.
Now she was proud, and robust. Her form had fulfilled into a true knights body, firm and tall and wide. She was a shield for her queen.
She was the sword that would defend. Her blonde hair was wrapped tightly again, not a curly was lose. Her make up was light. Her uniform was pressed and perfect. She was the epitome of a knight.
She was not nervous, but cool and collected. Calm. Her heart raced when she saw the silvery sheen of Cosmos’s dress, the way her hair fell on the ground. The soft smile on a nearly perfect face. If one was to look to the Cosmos, it’s queen was fitting of her name.
The knights were called to attention and she took her form in the line of them, standing tall. She came to them, one by one. Congratulated, praised and then moved on. Even if it was a fleeting moment, with Cosmos in front of her, Isidora felt her heart race, and was terrified that the queen would hear it. A slow thrum in her chest.
She felt a cool hand on her cheek, let her pink gaze fall down to the queen and reveled in the moment she had waited for her whole knighthood.
Cosmos patted her cheek and it sent a small shiver through her body. She could hear words...but she couldn't understand what they said. Something she masked well. And all too quickly the hand was fading and on to another knight and she gripped the side of her armor as the feeling of love and want coursed through her system
The slow burn of something she could never have. In a flash of time, the ceremony was over and the new knights of the kingdom were sent back to their wonders.
----------------------
Verona’s wonder was a silly city of love. Sometimes she hated that she watched over it, that it was under her protection. She felt the looming deep feeling of love in her heart but something she could never act on. She had never had a lover, physically. But she could see them on the streets, walking in pairs, holding and tenderly caring for each other.
She watched them with eagle eyes, soaking in interactions in. Wishing she could have something similar. Wishing, she thought, on something like love.
Her light gown trailed after her, as she walked the silent quarters she claimed as her own. Down stone steps with her bare feet. There was only a few she allowed in her home, and she could hear the two young squires under her charge, giggling in the open gardens.
“And what is so funny, Twi and Light.” Fondly nicknamed for their matching set of attire, reminiscent of the twilight sky.
The girls, who were identical matches as far as body and face looked up and then waved their mistress over, who joined them, crossing her feet.
“We were reading a book.” Twi blushed and then held it out for Isidora to see.
“The epics of Fulfilled.” Isidora narrowed her eyes and then read the page that the twin had handed her. While the girl’s watched her with curiosity, the stoic wall that was the knight didn’t change, but she snapped the book shut and then handed it back. “Tales of romance, I see.” She cocked her head, noting the girls ages. They were just a bit younger than her, when she first come here. It wasn’t odd for them to be interested in love.
“Wouldn’t it be so amazing, fall in love? Find that other person?” Light grabbed her sisters hands and held them tight. “And make a physical connection to them?”
Isidora scoffed a bit, and leaned back. “There is many types of love, little knights.” She stared up at the open sky. “There are ones that find each other, and there are ones that will never be. Ones that leave you wanting…” She looked back down to them, with their attention to eager on her, and leaned in, “and ones, where no matter what, you will always love them. Love is very painful.” She amended, “Be careful with your hearts, Little knights. You never know who will snatch it and hold it.” She reached over and patted both of their cheeks, before rolling and standing. She slipped on her slippers and left the girls who wondered and chattered, to walk the city.
Sometimes she hated the city she was given, but mostly, She hated that she loved it so much. A city of love. Fulfilled or not.
--------------------
She was on a volcanic planet, where the heat was so unbearably hot that she donned the natives garb of light wear. Her chest felt exposed with the thin material, and the knight found that while she hadn’t considered herself prude, very cautious of the gazes that came her way.
She was pale and tall and blonde in a planet that didn’t often have such visitors, and had only been here a few weeks. She would never grow accustomed to their curious touches or their obvious stares.
She yearned to return to the cool city of rainbow and stars. To Twi and Light, who giggled but never touched her so casually. To Cosmos, where her heart truly lied and waited.
But her direction had been to Vulcan and the care of their senshi, who was pregnant and targets for other worlds, or worst, the growing chaos in the sol system.
She was always close to the senshi’s side. Her touch was gentle on the woman as she helped her downstairs. Her words were calm and deliberate. Soon, she grew to actually like her a little. Friendship between the two, and a sort of attachment.
But deep in her heart, she continued to yearn for Cosmos, and the peaceful aura the queen she pledged too gave off. She yearned.
------------
Verona’s body shook from the onslaught of memories, every one of them was so viciously real and every one of them had effected her down to her core. She felt a ache, like a deep echo of Isidora in her heart and it hurt her. Cosmos, the queen she dedicated so much time too. The love that was so deep and thick it felt like it was drowning her and she coughed.
Tears lurked at gray eyes and she struggled to hold on to herself. Everything shook, her body, her mind.
Her heart.
“No no no, I don’t wanna see this. I’m not her.” Verona shook her head. “I can’t be her.”

[ ★★★ [SOLO] - The Code Answers ★★★ ] Setting: Present
The wave of nausea finally faded and Verona was able to stand, albeit weakly. She wobbled over to the tree and rested her back against it. The roots spanned so far out, and she followed them as they spanned into the canals of the stone street and structures. Long, overgrowing but she knew what this tree stood for now and it made her laugh.
“Tree of confessions or something like that.” She said out loud. “City of love. Nice. Figures I’d get some puny a** wonder.” She laughed again and rubbed her chest, where the ache was. She closed her eyes and tried to will the overwhelming emotions away, but she couldn’t.
Isidora had been almost a replicate of her, and she knew from the talks of Babylon and Hver, that she was probably a reincarnation of Verona...The same soul as Isidora. The last knight of Verona had chosen no lovers, carried no child.
She had died alone, and cold. and her feelings transpired time. And here Verona sat now, with the same want for a woman she could only see in memories of another.
It upset her, and she thought of Van, who was at home, on earth and waiting for her. Van, with a gorgeous smile and curly red-long silver hair hair, and eyes that shone like the stars and-no that wasn’t her.
That wasn’t her woman. She held her head. She got up against and started to walk against the roots. She wasn’t searching for anything, but she was looking for answers still. Quote: A pulsating orb of energy, about the size of a baseball, was trapped within the winding roots of a wilted tree. They wrapped around it protectively, but through the space between the roots, the light flickered wearily. It seemed to have a presence—like it was more than just a light. While it did not share the same mist-like appearance as the Code Piece on Olympus, there was no denying that this orb of light was one in the same. Although smaller, it still seemed powerful. The code piece called to her like a siren and she trailed over to it. She had seen the same thing on her visit to olympus, where they had received upgrades for rings. And she had known it to be an insightful resource. If it was the same as that thing on Mt. Olympus, then she could ask it the questions burning on her mind.
“What the hell am I supposed to do with these memories?” Quote: Why? Why do anything. What is there for you to do? Look into yourself Verona did, and she looked deep in herself. She had this ache and need.
“Do I pledge myself to this wonder? Leave earth and Van behind, pick up where I left off?”Quote: Look at your past. Look at your mistakes. Ask yourself if you are truly on the right course. Was this the right course? Was this the right time? Did she take the plunge into her knighthood? The resounding feelings of Isidora, did she ignore them? Or Did she take the mantle and continue the work and love that never would have been? Hver told her once that Cosmos was alive, and perhaps, this reincarnation of Verona had been born to cater to that. Perhaps, she would have a happier ending.
“What about Van?”Quote: I look at you and I see wasted potential. You are failing your Wonder. Failing her wonder. All for one woman. She held her head and then walked away. Pissed, angry, confused, hurt and yearning. All too much. Underneath the branches, and on the wonder she had found answers and more questions.
And a decision she wasn’t quite ready to make.

[ ★★★ Another Mistake ★★★ ] Setting: Present
The return home to her wonder had been painful, and while she had achieved the main goal, her new signet ring sitting pretty on her finger. It came with a great weight though, and her heart still ached in such a way, that she had never felt it ache so much before.
She sat on her couch and threw her head back, staring at the painted formation of her ceiling, and closing stormy gray eyes.
She could imagine the memories growing in her mind, and like a flood, it was each one after another and made her stomach churn. Isidora, she had been a faithful knight. She had been a decent one. She had taken it seriously.
Jarias wasn’t her. But she should be. She should be the knight that Isidora would be proud of. That she could claim the title of Verona like she should.
It had been a long time since she smoked, and she only kept the cigarettes on hand for when she was really stressed. Pushing herself off the couch, she took one from the half empty box, 6 years in the making and went outside, lighting it. It tasted like s**t, but it did something to her nerves. Calmed them, let her think rationally. Let her think at all. She couldn’t think with all the damn thoughts in her head.
Smoke curled up over the blonde hair rainbow hair and towards the stars. Storm was coming, clouds that stubbornly gray and dark crossing the bright moon path. She watched them and lingered over how much it was like her heart. How stupid and romantic and poetic. She wasn’t that.
Jarias was a failure of a knight and her wonder had said so. And she couldn’t really fight that. What had she done for her wonder? for Cosmos?
The whispered nothing, failure was replaying and she took another drag. One cigarette became two. She gripped the banister of her porch, overlooking Destiny City.
Was it Van’s fault? No. That much she knew. Van was great, amazing beautiful, fun and intelligent. Way to good for her.
But Isidora had thought the same for Cosmos, and now those feelings were meshing and confusing her. She didn’t wan’t the memories of Cosmos hindering her, but she couldn’t keep Van close to her if she continued this thought process.
It wasn’t fair to Van, if anything. If she justified it, it wasn’t fair to her. She’s be second guessing, whose feelings were stronger, who mattered more? Who was she truly for? The questions would always linger and the hot blaze of feelings she had for Van were new and just that, a blaze. What happened if the blaze died down and it was just her? Burnt to the ashes? Burnt to the ******** ground and scorched with memory of what could’ve been.
It’d be a ******** mistake.
She had made worst before.
Somehow this felt like the worst of them all.
She pulled out her cellphone and sent a small text.
Then she smoked the rest of the pack of cigarettes.
