"Yeah, yeah," muttered Chance. "I should know better than to expect things to go well."
It was kind of of a dig or maybe it wasn't and Chance was just being Chance. He gave an almighty swing of his bow and cracked it against the beast's head with a sickening crunch of metal against flesh.

Well damn. Chance was just carrying the team right now. Claude rolled up to a kneel, and immediately fired back. She grazed it again, and then rose to her feet to keep moving. On the bright side, her weapon was charged. "Is that some passive aggression?" She asked idly, keeping an eye on the beast. Quote: HP: 30 / 50 DMG: 2 Charge: 3 / 3 BOSS HP: 14 / 55

"Would I do that to you," said Chance blithely, which was not an answer at all.
In response, Asher made a soft hum, and there was a burst of icy wind and arrows, a shower of them slamming forcefully into the beast. It gave one last, lingering howl of pain and anger before collapsing onto its side and shuddering out a final breath.
Chance lowered his bow, a satisfied expression on his face. He glanced over at Claude.
"After you."

"Yes." She let out a relieved sigh as Chance fell the beast. "Good work." Instead of de-summoning her pistol, she tucked it into her sash. Just in case. It'd be a shame to waste that charge she had otherwise. She gave Chance a short nod, and warily moved forward, looking this way and that. "It's a labyrinth." She commented, thought didn't appear fazed or daunted by the possibilities of getting lost or being worn out. Instead she apparently just made a beeline to the exit. If only she could as easily navigate the labyrinth that was Chance.Quote: Roll 75-100: Congratulations, you've made it through the winding pathways of the hedge maze.

Chance didn't desummon his bow, but instead let it hang at his side, following after Claude with a somewhat tense expression on his face. The labyrinth inside was thick and heavy, and Chance eyed it with some trepidation.
"Well, this looks delightful," he said flatly, as Claude disappeared.

Apparently he wasn't going to find the exit nearly as easily as Claude had. Chance ground his teeth together in annoyance.

He was lost. Chance stepped neatly over a viper and kept moving.
"Good ******** grief," he muttered, finally discovering the exit and slipping out to stand beside Claude. "This place is a nightmare."

Claude glanced behind her. Apparently Chance didn't keep close. Hm. She thought about calling out to him, but decided to give it a few moments, and instead took to examining the moat. This was going to be something... She glanced again when Chance, briefly giving him a look that said you really expected anything else? Now that he was here though, she started to traverse the moat. Things seemed to be going okay, right up until she was swarmed by a shadow. Claude didn't have time to even let out a sound as she struggled against it, and after a short but intense struggle managed to shake it off. She let out a breath, eyeing the shadows around her warily before she kept moving. She glanced back, to make sure he wasn't about to get jumped either. Quote: 9: -50% of your remaining HP. He may still have been annoyed with Claude, angry even, but it didn't mean that he was just going to let her die out here. He started forward immediately as the creature leapt at her, bow at the ready, but by the time he managed to step carefully towards her, Claude had managed to fight the damn thing off.
Chance gave her a look.
"You all right?" he asked her, a little gruffly, but he'd only just managed to get the words out when his leg was suddenly in excruciating pain. Chance gave a yell of surprise and yanked hard, kicking outwards, water splashing everywhere, and the crocodile hissed angrily, jaws snapping.
He crawled back to safety, leg throbbing, and got unsteadily to his ******** HP: 15 / 50

She was about to answer him, but when she opened her mouth his yell filled the air. She started, immediately whipping out her pistol and pointing it at the crocodile. Claude thought about unleashing her charge, but before she pulled the trigger, Chance managed to pull himself away. Claude idly blew some hair out of her face. "Are you alrigh--" Claude honestly didn't know what happened next. Something had gotten them. One moment she was talking to Chance, and the next there was a brief flash of pain, black, and then they were somewhere she didn't want to be. The beginning. Where they ran into that large monster. "... What." Quote: 4: INSTANT DEATH for the entire party. Your group needs to portal out and restart form Round 1!

So close, and yet so far. Chance made a noise like an angry cat.
"How the ******** did we get back here?" he asked, but it was more of a rhetorical question. Annoyed, he gestured for Claude to once again follow him back into the garden, trying to ignore the fact that they were now back at square one, and would have to redo everything they had just previously done.

She didn't have an answer. Smart a** or sassy or dead pan, so she said nothing. Instead she followed, and kept an eye out for that monster. Apparently Chance had given it enough of a thrashing though, because they didn't come across it again as they reached the labyrinth.

At least this time, they managed to slip through the garden without any incident. Chance kept his bow at the ready, just in case the creature decided to take a bite out of them again, but thankfully it was quiet, and he followed alongside Claude with a tense expression.
The labyrinth was where he'd gone wrong the last time. Chance went first, stepping in with a sense of resignation.
