Pharos was shocked to hear he relieved his ancestor, surely that meant his ancestor was no longer on his wonder. She wondered why when one ancestor proved to be very helpful he would do that, but when she thought about it, their ancestor had probably been there for a long time. She wondered if they we're lonely before a new page awoke.
"That is a good of you. I can understand, I think, I can see why your wonder rewarded you. Does that mean you will one day take your ancestors place though?"
She looked at his weapon with a better view and decided it was probably one of the coolest things she had seen in quite a while. "I will definitely talk to him and see what he know and what I can do and I would love to talk to other's about it. It would be wonderful if you could point me in the write direction."
She pulled a note pad and tiny pen out of her waist band, something she'd learned to carry being a page. She had no idea her ring could be upgraded so she would no longer need to carry such things.

Babylon pursed his lips briefly. "I'm not sure," he admitted. "My understanding is that the ancestor's vigils were only set because the lines were interrupted - they died with living heirs but no new knight to take their place. If things go well, I think we're supposed to mentor younger knights while we're still living." That was how it had been for Mistral, hadn't it, from what he could tell. Her mother had still been alive, but she'd been training as the knight. He shook his head slightly. "So no, I don't think I'll have to stand a vigil." Unless the Negaverse wiped all the knights out again - which seemed distinctly possible, based on the dark future they'd all seen. He had to try very hard to remind himself that that particular future became more unlikely by the day. "You'll want to speak to Eternal Sailor Ida. She's really the expert," he said, not surprised by the appearance of the pen and paper - it was a good habit to be in. He was still in it, even with his upgraded ring - sometimes, a note was better than a voicemail. "There's also a knight of Chronos named Celsus - he might have some information specific to Surrounding wonders. There are more of us - close to ten in all, I believe, but those two are the best place to start, in my opinion." He narrowed his eyes at her signet ring, now that she'd brought it into view. "Excuse me," said Babylon, "But you haven't got the upgrade, have you? For voicemail and holograms and things?" He had a few of the rings rattling around in his pockets at the moment - force of habit. "It's... convenient," he said, holding out his own hand so she could see the way his ring was paired with a thinner one that cupped the signet. "Would you like it?"

She suddenly found herself wondering where Babylon was all her knighthood, him and Hver. The two seemed like veritable fountains of knightly knowledge. She was learning a lot lately, things she could pass on.. Maybe she could be more useful for the information they had offered.
She nodded at the explanation of their ancestors and how they came to be where they were, "that makes sense. My ancestor is my uncle, he didn't haves kids but nieces and nephews I suppose that would have taken his place, like me. It good to know hopefully no one else will get attached to a wonder, like that."
She wrote down Ida's name then gave a big grin at Celsus's name and looked exceedingly excited. "Celsus is transcended! I will have to talk to him as soon as possible. I had no idea. That's amazing." Her voice dropped to a more acceptable level, "close to ten she repeated."
It would be nice to hear how the other's did it and it gave her hope to have such a reward in the future. She blinked not understanding momentarily the topic change before she noticed he was looking at her ring. "There's an upgrade," she whispered questioningly.
She nodded looking to his ring and in awe, "yes please. I would like that very much. It would be most helpful. How does it work?"

Babylon smiled, relieved that one of the names seemed familiar to her - it was a good sign that she'd be able to get more information. (Not that he expected Ida to be anything but excessively forthcoming.) But, anyway, ring upgrades. "Yeah, there's an upgrade," he said, digging around in his pockets until he came up with one of Mistral's little devices. "It lets you send and receive voice messages and holograms. You need to take your ring off for a second..." He held out his hand. "It just snaps around it, okay? And then you're good to go. Just speak the name of the person you want to call and then start talking. Mistral made them. She's a knight of Mercury, like me."

Pharos took off her ring, an odd thing these days as she almost always wore it, even to shower. She held the ring out and stared in amazement. "I never imagined the ring could do something like that, with just a simple piece that snaps on. That's amazing."
She noted the name of the other mercury knight and wondered if she could meet her too. If she created the upgraded she seemed like a good knight to know. She wrote the name down with the rest and made a resolve to find her some day.
"Thank you Babylon," she said, "this is going to make things easier, so much so. If I come across another knight who doesnt have one should I send them your way or maybe tell them to find Mistral or is there another way to get them?"
She waited patiently to get her own ring back really wanting to try it out, then frowned slightly. "It will only work with upgraded ring then? Or can it still send messages somehow?" It would suck to send a message and have the other party not receive it.

"Amazing's sure a word for it," said Babylon, grinning broadly as he handed the ring back. "There are some blueprints floating around that the Code can hand out, if anyone wants to try their hand at making them themselves - I get them straight from Mistral." It was handy to always have some on him - he'd met plenty of knights who were happy to take the upgrade. "Anyway," he added, "it'll send things to older rings as transcriptions - pretty nifty, I have no idea how it works, just that it does." Like, yes, he was a knight of Mercury and Mercury was a tech planet, but Babylon's wonder had never asked him to engineer s**t. He was perfectly happy to leave that to Mistral and her visions of past grandeur. "And it'll still work the old fashioned way." Sending notes was still handy. Sometimes. He shrugged. "Anyway, anything else I can help you with?"

Pharos happily took her ring and put it back on looking at it, with an excited sort of glimmer before looking back to Babylon as he explained about the blue prints and mention the code. She was intrigued but she decided to leave it for now. The code was something to ask him about next time they met.
She nodded when said the ring could send transcription and still worked the old way. That was good to know. She smiled brightly and shook her head when he asked if he could help her with anything else.
"You have been most helpful and I don't need anything else," she grinned brightly, "thank you so much Babylon! I should be getting back home now, I have to be up at dawn. I hope to see you again soon!"

Babylon blushed and rubbed the back of his head, affecting more bashfulness than he actually felt. "Aw, shucks," he said. "That's a mighty generous Yelp review. Babylon was most helpful and I don't need anything else." Lowering his hand, he waved. "Alright, yeah, I've gotta be up around the same time." Being a park ranger and all that. "It was great to meet you, kill a thing with you, chat science with you. A plus, would hang out with again. Good night." He did a little finger guns flourish, then waved again, and with a swoop of his cape, turned to go.
