Ever shot Zeke a pained sort of look, sliding past him to help out -- because his injuries, by now, were nowhere near as bad as the other man's, left only a lingering twinge in one ankle. Together, at least, they'd have no problem getting the bookshelf off of Cain.

"He'll be fine, so long as you stop trying to speak French." Which, of course, Ever didn't actually know, but it seemed true enough as he looked down at the young man's face. "Say 'ça va' for Zeke."

Couldn't they just leave? No. They had to help and one of them even tried to coax french out of him, with terrible french mind you, while he was ******** trapped. Instead of answering he growled another round of s**t and tried to squirm and push some books away. When the shelf was pushed back he got use of his arms and legs again and started to push the books away properly, outright ignoring the man crouched by him.

Cain was a little scuffed but his shield took most of the thumps, not that they were much anyways. Was he alright, like it really mattered to them, assholes. When Ever spoke up he rolled his eyes and looked to him, violets narrowing at the call for ok. Cain opened his mouth speaking coldly, "ça va. Bâtard."

This wasn't awkward at all.

Cain didn't know this yet, but if Zeke didn't care he wouldn't have bothered to even push the shelf back upright. He was a very selfish individual, very cold and apathetic, at least to the majority of the island. It made him a questionable choice for infirmary duty, though admittedly they hadn't put him back on he shift rotation since he'd woken up. Probably waiting til he had his strength back. and didn't wince at the slightest strain to his shoulder.

A look of feigned irritation was directed over Cain's head at Ever, but it melted away quickly enough. He knew his french was s**t. He was too out of practice to sound anywhere close to fluent anymore, but at least he could understand it.

Cain's insult only made him smile.

"So cold, Ever." Brows gave a twitch, pale eyes lingering on the taller Life's face for a long handful of seconds. Then he was reaching down, hooking a hand under Cain's arm drag him up into a sitting position.

At least Ever didn't try to help: he just stayed crouched by the pile of books, arms draped thoughtlessly over one knee. He cocked his head to watch Zeke drag Cain to his feet, with just a faint rumble of a sound, somewhere between amusement and disapproval -- maybe even he wasn't sure.

"We should probably make sure he gets back to his room alright." It came with a little shrug, apologetic, as he looked up at Zeke. It meant an early end to their night. Or at least moving it.

In the middle of book he fumed silently what the hell was this, who just has a conversation around a person. Was he ******** invisible? Did the world stop making sense when these two were together, wait- "Hey!" He grouched when an arm tucked under him and hoisted him up. Sitting now he threw a jutted lip pout at Zeke before catching himself and deadpanning again. Who the hell do you think you are, don't just touch people, haven't you been taught any god damn manners?! He wanted to shout this but clammed up, not use to this kind of treatment, the air around them. It was weird.

A moment to catch up and Cain red face and all tried to get up, wincing as he finally stood on two feet. The pen had caused him to roll his ankle but it was nothing serious, would likely go away over night in fact. Adjusting he peered down into the mess of book and pointed to three books, "give me those." He demanded not caring who did it and holding out his hands for expected compliance while adding, "and like hell you are seeing where I sleep at."

Creeps.

No, Zeke didn't have any manners.

The grouchy looks, the protests, the jerk away from his helpful touch. None of it seemed to bother the Mist in the least. That same lazy, half amused smile lingered on his lips as he got to his feet a little stiffly, eyes closing for just a moment as he arched his back, stretching sore muscles. When he opened them again he looked down at Ever, frowning at that apologetic tone and everything that went with it.

There went their evening.

Well. There delayed their evening. Changed the venue. Disappointing, but not as much as it could have been. He made a slight face, though the smaller blonde's quick objection had him smiling all over again. "Why? Afraid we'll break in and ravage you in the night?" He saw the blush.

"Be nice, Zeke." Exasperated, Ever reached out to grab the books and tuck them under one arm before he straightened as well, rolling his shoulders -- and holding onto them. He didn't offer them back to Cain, though, instead opting to carry them himself as he put the shelf at least somewhat back in order. Or at least put the books back on the shelf completely out of order. He'd be the one to fix it anyway, most likely.

After a moment's pause, he looked up at them." Although, if he can't remember which room is his, he might have a concussion, in which case he'll have to sleep in one of our rooms, so that we can make sure he's alright."

It was deadpan. At first. But it soon melted into something else, a smile spreading across his mouth.

Even through anger the slow, stretched movements were noticed. Was he hurt? Which it didn't mattered above the fact that Cain might be able to take him in a fight. Not that he doubted himself not to win in a fair one but still. Wearing a seriously not amused and uncomfortable look violet eyes watched the pair. Then the life nearly toppled over at the question, this guy, did he have no shame!? "Why the hell would I be afraid of that? Stupid pervert." He snorted, irritated and trying to shift his weight to his good ankle to keep the cramped hurting down.

Ever moved and Cain frowned, eye twitching in annoyance with the man as his books went under the pale mans arm. A loud dramatic exhale and he surrendered not in the mood to put up with this longer than necessary. As soon as Ever let go of the books he would get them and leave, but for now, "******** fine! Just take me to your room." He called the bluff, running a hand through his hair and hoping they'd just turn over the books and let him go without an escort.

Besides they couldn't be serious after all considering that would ruin whatever was left of their evening.

Right?

Wrong.

Pale eyes twitched over the smaller blonde's shoulder to meet much darker ones, and a knowing smile followed. "I'm always nice," he repeated, humor more than apparent in his voice as he crossed his arms loosely across his chest. The venomous retort from the smaller Life made him chuckle. Baiting him was proving to be incredibly easy. Ezekiel loved it. It made him want to push harder, dig deeper. It made him want to see see just how far he could take things before the younger man snapped, either leaving or giving into some baser urge. Violence, or otherwise.

He resisted this, because Ever had told him, twice now, to be nice. It meant the Mist held his tongue, for now. Which was fairly impressive, given Zeke didn't hold back for damn near anyone.

For as bristly as the shorter man was, his agreement to come with them to one of their rooms was a complete surprise. It had Zeke blinking, eyes widening just a touch, before that lazy smile of his grew ever wider. A thoughtful, considering look crossed his face, and again he looked up to Ever, sharing a glance, before reaching out to touch fingertips to the small of the shorter man's back. "Alright then." A soft nudge to get him moving, a long, lingering look over his head at Ever, and Zeke lead the way out of the library.

The look Ever gave Zeke in return was a very clear no, but at least he didn't tell him to be nice again. Instead he stepped forward, casually, to sweep an arm around Cain's waist and toss him over one shoulder. For all that he looked like a reed in the wind, Ever was deceptively strong -- intermediate trainee strong -- and he could at least manage to carry a young man as small as Cain.

"There might be some crackers in my room, too. You could probably use those...and a glass of water." And with the young man uncomfortably settled in a fireman's carry over one bony shoulder, he started back toward the dorms.

For a moment the shortest man looked dumbfounded. That wasn't suppose to happen, what the hell did he do now? Confusion only got worse when a hand pressed to his back so lightly it startled a noise from him and he moved on instinct. As they moved from the library Cain glanced to the floor speechless for the moment, nose curling up as his temper started to boil again and give him confidence. They were ******** with him, teasing him because he was younger, smaller, weaker. No. Not weaker he was a hunter too!

Just when he was about to turn on Zeke, Ever swooped in and Cain found himself giving a startled gasp as his body took to the air then landed over a shoulder. "Ah!" Fully stained in red the teens features all scrunched together and a flash back of his sister came. She would always do annoying s**t like this, pick at him, prod him. It was all her fault. Cain bristled turning into Ever's neck and narrowing violet eyes up to the pale haired man, his mouth opened in a seconds warning delivering a breath of hot air before a soft supple mouth closed around his jugular and bit. The bite was sharp enough to draw attention but not blood, just enough to get down hopefully.

Zeke's response to that look was an almost imperceptible smile and a roll of broad shoulders that would serve as a shrug. He'd follow Ever's lead, wherever that may take them, and trust that he'd have fun along the way.

The smallest member of their little group had fallen quiet as they started walking, and the Mist gave him a curious look before Ever had ducked in to toss Cain up onto his shoulder, carrying him. A truly amusing sight, given just how red those tan cheeks flared. A snicker followed, low and not entirely nice, but Zeke couldn't help it. Ever was stronger than he looked, a fact he seldom saw fit to prove, but Zeke was well aware of it by now. He'd had his own ride brief ride on the blonde's shoulder, whisked up rather unexpectedly before their Colorado trip.

Cain, it seemed, was full of surprises as well. Auburn brows shot up as the smaller man turned on Ever's shoulder, going for the pale line of the Intermediate's neck. It was an interesting reaction, and one that had Zeke shifting closer, a warm hand finding the back of Cain's neck before fingers slid up into his hair and closed almost softly around pale curls to give a small but firm tug. "Careful. You don't want to start something you aren't looking to finish." His tone was more promising than truly threatening, despite dip in his low voice.

Ever had siblings, or had had siblings -- which meant that he could deal with a bit of a biting, or pinching, or nudging. Still. The combination of bite and Zeke's casual reaction dragged another laugh out of him, made him stumble and then knock Zeke's hand free so that he could set Cain, a little roughly, back on his feet. He needed a moment, leaning on his knees, to catch his breath.

"s**t." It was still bubbling with laughter, though. "I thought maybe your head was spinning too much to walk..."

A warm touch brought a stir in body, the back of his neck and hair sensitive. Sensitive enough to draw a whimper that sounded suspiciously like a moan as blonde locks were tugged. Glaring back to Zeke Cain opened his mouth to challenge, "wasn't it you who started it?" Not that it really mattered nor WOULD it be going anywhere to finish anything in the trainees mind but still. He was right, was always right.

He heard the smack of hand but didn't expect to be put down so fast nor so roughly. This time his head did spin thanks to Ever, he stumbled back bumping into Zeke on a groan before a hand went up to rub the ghost sensation of fingers from his hair. "What the hell is wrong with you two.." He hissed as his weight finally pressed enough to hurt a little on foot.

Cain might have interrupted something, but Zeke was still having a good deal of fun. Every action seemed to have a new and interesting reaction. The trainee was still irritated, still bristling, but the unconscious responses, the things you couldn't quite control, those were painting an entirely different picture.

It had the Mist grinning from ear to ear as Ever smacked his hand away. He'd heard that moan, slight though it was. "I believe someone threw a book at me," he countered mildly, teeth flashing in the dim light.

When Ever stumbled an instinctive hand was there at his side, steadying, as he set the smaller man back on his feet, but a second later he'd find his hands full as Cain fell against him. Large hands dropped to thin shoulders, thumbs at the back of his back. What was wrong with them? "Absolutely nothing."
