"Cool, thanks for telling me it's not a movie. I super hadn't noticed-" Creedence cut herself off there. She wasn't going to let this girl hear anymore about the things that upset her. Talking about her family, about being scared and out of place everyday, to Peyton would no doubt just result in the same as before. You should be grateful. Other people have is worse. Get used to it, worse is on the way.
"Maybe you can tell me this isn't a game next."
She flipped her grip on the knife mid swing, the blade striking into the other girl instead of cutting across.
"Probably not," came the answer, muttered and pensive behind the insincere smile.

"Is this all you are?" She had to stop, grunting at the plunge of the dagger into her side, then pulling in a breath as it jerked free. Shields helped, but only so much. "Insolence and attitude?" This time, when she swung she connected. Pointy little knuckles digging into the taller girl's side as she snaked in, exploiting an opening. "I don't know what bug crawled up your a**, but I'm not the bad guy here." She danced back, putting a little distance between them again. "I'm the one that wants to make sure you know how to fight, so you can stay alive and be an asset." Arms came up, taking on that defensive, ready posture again. "Why did you join this organization?" "Yeah this is all that I am," Creedence answered easily. She took the hit and it hurt but not as much as it should have, was nothing she couldn't shrug off and keep going. The next question, however wasn't nearly so easy. The dagger was gone, desummoned between one breath and the next. "I'm done. Thanks for the help." She didn't even manage to sound snide this time.

The change of pace was entirely too abrupt, startling. Peyton blinked at the other girl, frowning thoughtfully with lips ticked up on one side. "Right." That was just strange. Nice hadn't worked, challenging hadn't worked, pushing hadn't worked. Peyton didn't know what would. Didn't have a damn clue why this person she'd never met seemed to have disliked her before she'd even so much as opened her mouth. True, she could be pain in the a**, condescending, but she was well meaning. Hips cocking to one side, the smaller of the two crossed her arms over her chest. "What's your deal?"

Shrugging, Creedence gave her an unhappy look, "Well, what's your deal. What are you trying to do here? You got to lecture me, show me that you're better and more experienced, lecture me some more, and ask questions I don't want to answer. What else do you want?"

Peyton's posture actually shifted backward an inch. "Is that what you took away from all that?" Her hands dropped, thin frame straightening up into something a little less severe, more casual. "That wasn't showing off, if I wanted to show off I wouldn't have spent so long defending, and I sure as s**t wouldn't have desummoned my weapon when I went on the offensive." She had a perplexed look on her face. "I'm a Sun, this is my job, to be a good fighter. I specialize n combat training on top of that. So what I want is to train people that need training. "I didn't push this spar on you. I offered, you accepted, but you've been nothing but overly defensive and hostile from the moment I showed up." She had to cross her arms again to keep from poking a finger into the taller girl's chest. "So once again, what's your deal?"

"OK, Vegeta, you only showed me 15% of your power or whatever. You totally didn't show off and I feel great about myself and super trained and enthusiastic. Job well, done." Creedence offered the other girl a wide-eyed golf clap. "You offered to spar with me. You didn't offer to teach me, and I didn't accept that. But since it's your job or something maybe you think that's your right. It doesn't matter though, because it could have been worse right? You could have really shown me your stuff and I'm lucky you didn't right?"
Flushed and uncomfortable with the level of emotion she was showing, Creedence asked plainly, "Can I go now?“

What is happening here?It hadn't strictly been meant for Warrick, but the demon gave a grunt of a reply anyways, clearly at as much of a loss as she was. "Wow." She had to chuckle. It wasn't funny, but she still had to laugh, because she just didn't understand this level of blatant hostility from a relative stranger. A number of ill-tempered responses slithered across her tongue, but Peyton bit back all of them, swallowing the impatience and the irritation with them. "Where is all that animosity coming from? Did I wrong you in a former life?"

"Cause it'd be just impossible in this one," Creedence muttered under breath as she started to walk around Peyton.
"Yeah I'm just a really angry person," she answered, voice turning bored. "Full of irrational hate-ons for random people. It's a shame you got caught up in my unreasonably bad attitude, all for being a good samaritan. Talk about ungrateful, right?"

"You could try letting a person know what they did to piss you off, instead of just being passive-aggressive." Didn't matter, the other girl was already walking away, and Peyton's patience for her was just about used up. Lifting a hand she offered a wave over her shoulder, heading in the opposite direction. "Have a nice day." Her tone, at least, lacked anything but a mild chirp.
