Regardless of how long his hair was ( and it was totally shorter then yours Yuki, totes), it seemed that the gold knight had gotten a little carried away with his idea, and once Yuki had pointed out the fact he had only just started this relationship did Jason rapidly come down to earth and realizing he may have been pushing something onto them they didn't want.
"...Y-yeah, y-you're right." Jason placed a hand on the back of his head and tried to laugh off his sudden embarrassment, then realizing by the look on his friends face he probably felt ten times worse. "It is a bit sudden. S-sorry Yuki, I didn't mean to try and rush you into such a huge decision. I-it was rude of me to do so."
He hung his head, feeling a little stupid now, but quickly pushed that feeling aside. "While...that may be a p-possibility. I will be doing everything in my power to prevent that from happening." He looked up, his eyes staring back at Yuki. "I can promise you that much."

Yuki actually felt a little guilty by the way that Jason's mood deflated.
"Don't apologize," he said softly and seriously. "Love is a pretty bright light in all of this darkness. I'd cling to it, too, if I wasn't afraid."
Because surely love didn't bloom so swiftly, he mentally told himself. Despite the way his heart fluttered at the sight of her, especially since the words and contact that they had shared in the peace and quiet not long ago. Like some piece of him that had been lost had fallen back into place. Something he hadn't realized was missing until it was returned to him. It felt right.
He looked toward Jason, meeting the man's gaze and offering him a calm smile. "It wouldn't be the worst thing to rush toward," he said, lightly clapping a hand on his shoulder in hopes of offering some reassuring contact.
"I want you to keep yourself alive, too." Yuki urged, "I know it doesn't... Sound like the outlook is good, but I don't want to believe that there isn't still a chance.
And if you protect anyone between the three of us, besides yourself, you watch after Riley. I need you to promise me that you'll do that."

With the comforting hand on his shoulder Jason feel better, reassured he just hadn't offended his friend. "It is. It is a beautiful one, to be sure. Something that can keep us going when all else is lost, to keep ones soul warm against the chill."
He then offered him a small smile. "All I can say is that I will try, Yuki. I..don't know exactly what...will be required of me. But if there is a chance I...I will try my hardest." Perhaps there was a chance he could survive, and not have to break his friends hearts. He could only hope.
"Of course." He assured, before pausing. "...I may not be your leader, as such..b-but if you ever get lost...n-need help...P-please seek me out. I don't care what color you are, or who anyone else is, I will do whatever I can to assist." Inwardly he cringed, hoping he would be able to lead his own knights as well as help everyone else. Although he cared for them greatly, he knew he couldn't just abandon his position to help them if worst came to worst..

Riley busied herself with rolling bandages instead of openly watching them. Now she only surreptitiously watched them.
Seeing Jason's smile return, if weakly, Yuki was at least partly reassured. He nodded slowly, understanding that their time together was no guarantee. Not anymore. Not when Jason had much more than his own safety and theirs to concern himself with.
Yuki probably wouldn't have been able to handle the weight, and mentally offered silent thanks to fate that the same services hadn't been given to him. Not just for the promise of sacrifice, either...
"We'll all be looking out for one another."
Just because each brigade followed a different purpose didn't mean that they were to isolate one another. If such a thing were anyone's goal, they would most certainly not succeed in the coming battle.
"I hope we can all keep our heads about us this time." Yuki said after a pause, as if the memory of the corruption that Jason and Riley had suffered wasn't still fresh on his mind. "I wouldn't want to have to try and break your arm again or anything. I'd have to feel bad this time, for attacking a Great Knight."
And he was joking about something he probably shouldn't have.
Tossing an arm around Jason's shoulders again - because God knew he wasn't about to start treating the man differently despite him being superior to him now - tugging him back toward Riley's direction.
"If you're finished borrowing my presence all to yourself, we should probably go back to Riley before she gets too frustrated in wondering just what sort of secrets we're sharing."
Whether or not Yuki actually knew that they were being intently watched was a mystery.

"I don't plan to be possessed by anything." Jason was determined not to put anyone, including himself, through that horror. And he would be making sure to keep others away from that peril too. Though how he was going to accomplish that was another thing.
And then he was silent after Yuki spoke. Before he chuckled, because for some reason he found what Yuki said extremely funny.
"That reminds me, now that I am a Great Knight, it means I am pretty much your superior. Or one of them at least" He said. "It means you have to do everything I say. Otherwise you'll be in trouble and I'll make you do-."
Of course Yuki chose this moment to throw his arm around his shoulder, throwing him off balance. "Aww, come on~" He whined, following him back to Riley. "Give me some respect!"
Riley's busywork became suspiciously more concentrated when she realized they were coming back to her, and her eyes were narrowed intensely as she rolled a set of bandages up tightly and set them aside. She turned just in time to see them both come to her, and her face pinched with a kiss of color on her cheeks for no other reason than happiness.
"Are you two done squirreling away?" She asked, bouncing helplessly on her toes. Her expression was tempered but it was impossible to hide the smile that pursed on her lips, and the impatience that twitched her fingers the closer they came to her.
