sigishooter halfcrash Oh man, this thread was created such a long time ago and I haven't been on gaia for a while now but I felt the need to come to this forum and kinda participate for once. Anyways I feel like this thread is probably the only thread that I feel comfortable participating in so here I am. I might as well start off by saying something about myself like the others have. So, I've enjoyed creating art since I was very young but never actually took it up as a hobby until a couple years ago. I mostly enjoy doing digital art with my drawing tablet. I seem to always get into an art block and not draw for a month and then start up again which is really frustrating. I plan to go to college to major in illustration and later become a digital art teacher and getting into a slump when I want to become a "professional" artist is extremely annoying. I also enjoy writing and creating stories. It's somewhat embarrassing to admit but the majority of the time I make my main characters have some of my characteristics because I like to imagine that I am them but they are just a stronger, handsomer, better version of me. Writing can sometimes be my creative outlet and when I get dysphoric creating confident character can be helpful. The inspiration for both my writing and drawing mostly come from movies or tv shows. Sometimes if I like the cinematography from a movie or tv show recreate it but in my style of drawing on my computer. I like to do a lot of color studies and really bring out the different compositions in a scene to show the depth, perspective, or mood. So there you go. I just wanted to post this here because I would love to chat with other LGBT+ artists as I haven't met very many. Hey, that's cool! And I totally understand making characters that end up being versions of yourself. I think at least to some degree everyone does it. I don't think that's so bad (even if it can be embarrassing) especially if you recognize you do it. Do you have anywhere you have your art posted? Anything to share? :0 I don't have any art posted online cause I don't want anyone stealing any of my art. I would love to share some of my art but since it's not posted online I'm not exactly sure how to share it.

It's too bad people have to take other peoples intellectual property. :/ Art theft is the worst.

I especially don't want to post anything because some of the work I want to share might end up being on my portfolio and I don't want colleges to see my work but in someone else's names if someone ends up stealing it. It would be a pretty shitty situation.

If you don't mind me asking--are you applying to or planning to attend any particular college/s? :0 Are you looking to get your degree in art? If that's too personal, I understand! I'm just curious because I'm a Sequential Art grad and I went to a school called SCAD not too long ago.

We actually had a SCAD employee come and present the college to us in art class. I want to get a bachelors degree cause I would like become a teacher someday. I want to major in illustration and maybe minor in some sort of writing. I'm planning on applying to RISD, Pratt Institute, and like 5 others.

I can only speak for my department (and my campus--I went to Savannah) but I've heard some good stuff about the illustration program there! Unfortunately I never was able to take any electives outside of my major ahah Definitely wishing you the best of luck!
