She had hoped she could find it buried in the snow somewhere, but it was completely gone.

Preparation for this journey had been a little slower than normal, her excitement waned. Her hands lingered on the strap of the saddle, having now tugged and checked it at least ten times by now. They didn't seem to want to remove themselves from the soft leather and her eyes seemed diverted to the ground below her and the horse.
Maple almost didn't want to attempt going out again with how many times she had been sent back down the mountain. So much illness, at least tended to thanks to the lake, and she had lost her food at the very peak of the mountain. So close, yet she had failed three times in a row. With a heavy sigh, the black knight leaned her head against the saddle and closed her eyes.
Urg, she should get moving. Despite her low levels of enthusiasm, she still at least wanted to try to improve her armor...phantompanther13 filling this one in at least so you can stumble on her and whisk her awaaaay ~

Micheal stumbled upon someone going out for a quest. Or at least he thought she was going out for a quest considering she was packing. "Hello, need some help?" Yes he was wearing the cape. No he did not think it looked dumb despite feathers being everywhere.

It was one of those times that Maple didn't jump when someone spoke to her, and it took a moment for her to finally peel her forehead away from the saddle of the horse to look at who actually was. An unfamiliar person. But he got a pleading, sad looked directed at him all the same. "I f-failed going up... three t-times... in a row... I am g-getting a little... disheartened..." She even sounded pitifully.
It was then Maple noticed his cape, much like that other knight's but in no way was she expecting anything from him. Just wanted to vent to someone at least.phantompanther13 auto correct wanted to change your name to phantom painter

She looked so helpless. Three times? Wow that was a lot. "Don't worry I'll help you." Micheal grinned at her, yes he was just going to offer help. "Here I'll just carry you. We will fly!" he couldn't actually fly but that was besides the point. Still it looked like he was having fun. Quote: I am the phantom painter. *cackles* I hope this is how we do this. XD

Deep down there might have been a little bit of hope that he would offer. So, when he did, Maple's eyes widened, and her brows pushed together in the most pitiful little look even though she was just elated to hear what he told her, "you w-would? Th-thank you." She finally pushed herself fully away from the horse that had been eyeing her, wondering if they were actually going to do this thing. (When it turned out they weren't, it went back to grazing).
Maple moved a little closer to Micheal, unsure of what to do. The other guy had.. just sort of picked her up and here it seemed she was making more of the first move.
"Um..... my name is Maple by the way..."phantompanther13 yah, pretty much.. just pick her up and carry her to the summit xD

"I'm Micheal." Micheal picked her up and was off. He just ran up cliffs and glided down them. This was fun! He ran without stopping, and because they were half gliding the whole time it was pretty easy going. Micheal only stopped once they were at the summit. "There you go! easy peasy." chirigami I hoped that worked, I have to go work now. sorry.

It was as thrilling as it had been the last time, and beautiful to see the mountain range below her feet. This time, however, she didn't feel as bad taking the easier route up with the aid of someone else. The failures had been irritating after all, and she felt that perhaps she earned something a little easier for all those efforts.
Besides, she still had a few more items to make the armor set complete (as so she had heard), so she would attempt the grueling way... again... maybe.
Maple's feet touched the ground as they got to the summit and despite her shy nature, she found herself wrapping her arms around the kind knight who had helped her. "Th-thank you Michael." She whispered, blushing as she found herself so easily doing. Maybe a bit too quickly and awkwardly, she pulled away from him. Um. "I.." She pointed to where the item was most likely waiting for her and decided it might be best for her to retrieve it.
Indeed, something shiny was waiting for her. A beautiful helm and engraved on it was an intricate pattern of what looked like a maple tree. Like... her name. Maple had found a helm of maple. She had to smile for the coincidence (or was it).phantompanther13 Thank you! If you wanna add a post, you are more than welcome to bring them down.

He smiled at the girl when she hugged him and briefly returned the hug. She seemed nervous, but they were all knights now, she could do it. he let her go up and retrieve the helmet and then gave it a glance over. "Hey it matches your name."He nodded once, almost stage like and then swept her up again. "Alright we fly!" and off they went back home again. chirigami I just felt the need for that post.
