May I suggest a week devoted to everyone's heritage? Everyone could post something about them and why they love their roots.
I.e. I am 75% dutch 25% Friesian, and Friesland is a small colony in the netherlands. Most people know that Dutch people are from Holland. Did you know that Dutch & German are so similar in language that you can actually.......
that would be mine.

My suggestion is a wishful cherry blossom festival. (lasting for 1 month? A week seems a little short for this)
A special thread is made for this occassion, and everyone comes in and, on a little piece of card, writes down on it their wish and 'ties' it to a branch on a cherry blossom tree.
Ok, so that's the roleplay purpose.
For the actual thing, everyone comes into the thread and posts a sentence saying what they wish for. It can be an item, getting many comments on their profile, etc.
Then, the person who is in charge of the thread takes all of these and puts it onto an alphabetical list.
Then, each wish is sent to another partisipant (secretly) and they have to make the person's wish come to reality.
A little bit like secret santa, but It's the Cherry Blossom festival! biggrin

how about a writing competition, for short stories or poetry?
the winner would be decided by popular vote just like an avi contest.
