Maya's eyes shot up to look at the youngling. "Not our right, our duty is to protect our mother Aisha, and our sisters." Picking up a stray twig Maya lopped it into the fire and watched as the flamed licked and consumed the organic material. "I do not think our right belongs to all of Tendaji. We are not some oppressor who wants to act like obans and control everything. We shouldn't be, but then if the mystics say we should, they do speak for Aisha after all."
Pacju shifted again only to receive more petting from Maya. "Remember Lumikani, Earthlings are just smaller than us that doesn't make them inferior in anyway."

She was silent as she thought over Maya's correction, sitting still for a long moment before nodding. It went beyond just simple defense, it was her duty and what she was bloomed for - she was here to protect everyone around her that she cared about. It was a hefty duty, even she knew that, but it was one that made her body thrum in excitement. She would do it with honor.
As Maya continued, she listened with a furrow in her brow. The lands were their own, weren't they? So why would they need to share with the people who fought and attacked and hurt the lands. As she pondered this, Maya answered for her.
"...yeah...we must follow the mystics and not act against their will, for their will is Aisha's." her solemn response was one repeated, one she had heard before.
And suddenly, it was back to the size again, and Lumi moved to stand as she thought about it.
"...I would never think them inferior...I am small like an earthling but I will be strong like a sister...I guess if I am strong and smart, they can be too...."
Her anger in her voice was gone, and she just sounded soft and contemplating. Maya seemed like a strong sister that was bound to give her some stories, but instead she gave her some lessons to think over. She would have a long night to work everything out.

Closing her eyes Maya listened to the vibrations in the forest before opening them again. She could tell by the time that it was getting later. It hadn't helped that news from other sisters had reached her. She had been so distracted by wanting to travel with Shukri that she had forgotten the sacred festival that was coming up. She had to find him before turning around and heading back to Chibale and promising him that she would indeed return.
Groaning Maya moved to stand, sending Pacju dashing off into the trees ahead of her. Reaching out she moved to pat the younglings head. "Aisha is our highest voice. Though I don't agree with some of the mystics lately." She paused and gave lumikani a warm look. "Earthlings have magic, and the hybrids who are mixed with them can be just as powerful an ally."

Swinging her arms back and forth in an attempt to release her energy, Lumikani watched as Maya moved to stand. Her eyes snapped toward the movement caused by Pacju, and once again she felt determination to get a strong creature to have as a companion.
She looked up when she felt the gentle pat of her sister on her head, and smiled at the final words despite the mystic comment. Lumikani knew that it was often hard to deal with words when feelings conflicted - she felt that every day with her smaller size than her sisters.
"...I have faith in Aisha, and our sisters." she nodded with determination, before rolling her shoulders and looking to the trees. It had gotten darker and she needed to head home before Elsheba and her mothers threw a fit, "I hope to see you again, Maya. Even if it's to hunt, I want to someday fight by your side."
With that, she gave the elder girl a cheeky smile and spun on her feet, taking off toward the trees with a wave and heading back home.

Maya nodded and gave a short wave as she watched the youngling disappear. At least she was returning home in somewhat good health. That was always a good thing for her to see. It reminded her of her own daughter and Maya gave a chuckle at the thought watching carefully to make sure she wasn't ambushed randomly in the trees before turning away herself. With the celebration coming up she wondered if it was possible to take Teiluj with her this time. Though she doubted it with the growing animosity from some of her sisters.
"Perhaps someday we might be on the same team. And perhaps someday we may be on opposite sides." Maya muttered as she moved to catch up with Pacju but in the end what really mattered was the child remained true to herself.
