After that hellish experience Jason sighed, able to see the top of the mountains and hopefully the end to this quest. It was treacherous trying to lead the horse up the narrow pathways, and many times he had to rest (and cry because he didn't like heights), but somehow he made it safely to the top, where he found what appeared to be the artifact he was searching for. It certainly appeared to be a very rare and amazing one, what with the many gemstones fastened into it. He gazed in awe at how they sparkled in the sunlight. His prize in hand, he hopped back onto his horse and traveled back down the mountain, ready for a good rest. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 43 YOUR HP: 10

Jason really didn't want to go outside. Really didn't want to. Not only was it pitch dark without any source of light to see, but the castle was surrounded by hundreds of thousands of blood thirsty creatures that could tear him limb from limb. No he wanted to stay inside where it was safe. But, there were still artifacts that needed to be found, and after being given a very nice set of shoulder pads, Jason felt inclined to try his luck again. This new armor was of much better quality than the usual meal armor laying around the castle. If he was successful and brought back more artifacts, then he could be given more armor that might keep him safe. Or better yet, help him keep others safe. Grabbing as many supplies as he could, he saddled up his horse and rode it to the gates. Of course there were people still fighting shadows nearby so he was quite surprised when no one stopped him to ask what the hell was he doing. Maybe they knew what hew as doing? Or on a much more morbid note, maybe they thought he was fleeing the castle and weren't bothered stopping him. N-no, it had to be the first option, he was sure...pretty sure. Taking a deep breath, Jason urged his horse out of the castle. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 28 YOUR HP: 30

The horse was clearly uncomfortable around so many shadowlings, so it ran as fast as it could, much to Jason's relief. He kept low on it's back and held on for dear life as all around them the shadows heaved and budged. The sight was enough to make him sick. Soon enough the horse ran out of the main fray, and Jason straightened up. While he was glad he was out of immediate harms way he still had the major problem of not being able to see through the inky darkness. Quickly he began to assemble a torch out of a torch and some rags, but as he tried to light it his horse stopped suddenly, sending him over it;s head. Jason got a brief glimpse of what he thought was a bottomless chasm, before he started screaming and tried to pull himself back up the cliff side. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 28 YOUR HP: 30

With a surge of strength, Jason pushed himself up and over the cliff side and rested on the ground, trying to get his breath back. "Oh god...Oh god..." He whispered, giving himself a few minutes before he hopped up and got back on his horse. To his dismay he realize that in the chaos, he had lost some of his food provisions. Jason thought the forest was bad before. Now it was even worse, his torch casting eerie lights upon the tree trunks. He shivered, trying his hardest not to tear up as he felt the fear inside him threaten to overwhelm his mind. No...he had to focus. Focus on the path. Raising his torch to give himself more light, he saw something out of the corner of his eye and blanched. A set of red eyes stared back, and with a scream he fell off his horse. Said horse didn't bother to wait for it's rider and galloped off. Now Jason really felt like crying. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 22 YOUR HP: 30

"It's fine...I-i'll be fine..." He tried to reassure himself as he entered the labyrinth. "All I got to do..is k-keep going..Keep going..." He then felt his foot give way, and screamed as an axe came swinging from the side. "I'M NOT FINE I'M NOT FINE!" He shouted all the way out. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 17 YOUR HP: 25

Jason managed to keep running all the way to the top, and only stopped when he tripped over the artifact in the snow. "FINALLY!" He shouted in relief, then went tumbling down the mountain in the resulting avalanche. He may have spent a few moments crying to himself after that. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 17 YOUR HP: 15

Jason hated dragons. He had big tar dragons. He hated big tar dragons that were as big as the castle and easy able to swallow the hole thing hole. Feeling very ill and all over crap, he decided to take a break from the front lines and do something that was significantly less dangerous. Like going out on quests for artifacts. While it was still really dangerous, he found it less so. Because there were no shadowlings or horsemen or giant tar dragons to eat him. Moving around the back, he went about packing up all the food he could find and throw it into a bag, then once he located a horse he was set to go. Like a thief in the night he exited the castle quietly, escaping the notice of the shadows that swarmed it. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 29 YOUR HP: 30

As soon as Jason was clear of the castle he breathed a sigh of relief, happy to be away from the heavy fighting. But now that he was away from it he was faced with another fearful prospect. Traveling in the darkness. Not that he hadn't done it before. It was just something he couldn't get used to. But thankfully he had remembered to pack a torch and, after assembling his torch by wrapping some cloth around a wooden stick and striking it with a flint he was able to see what was in front of him. "GAHH! SOMEONE HELP MEEEE!" Jason shouted, barely managing to hold onto the edge of the cliff. He could feel some of his food supplies slide out of the bag, but he couldn't help that right now. Flailing preciously on the edge, he reached up and grasped the cliff with his other hand, managing to pull himself up to safety. "Why do I keep falling off the cliff..." He whined. He thought it wouldn't be that hard to remember it's location, but apparently it was. Breathing heavily, he jumped back onto his horse and continued his quest. "I hate this." Jason grumbled, shaking as his horse trotted through the forest. He hated how the trees looked in the dark, as if they were reaching for him. Bringing his black coat around him he urged his horse to go faster, holding the torch up high to see where they were going. Suddenly a tree loomed in front of him. Jason though the tree was frighting, and so did the horse too. It reared up and booted Jason off it's back before galloping away. "WAIT! COME BACK!" He shouted after the horse. Now that he was on foot it took twice as long to reach the laybrith, and by the time he did Jason felt tired, lonesome and miserable. With only his torch and his sword he entered the labyrinth and prepared himself to try and get through. It took him approximately three steps for him to step on a booby trap. "Wait what was - GAAAHH!" He leaped for the ground, covering his head as the axes swung overhead and taking a few strands of hair with it. With a desperate crawl he scrambled out of the way, before running for the exit. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 21 YOUR HP: 25

With his coat in tatters and his mind weary from all the stress, Jason crawled up the mountain side and flopped on the edge, groaning from over exertion. "Am I done yet?" He sighed, debating a nap before he looked around and saw a pair of leggings in the snow. He blinked. Was this the artifact? Apparently so, although he didn't know why anyone would consider something like this a artifact. Oh well, who was he to argue? QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 16 YOUR HP: 25
