Everything seemed to be going alright in the forest, honestly, until Yuki's horse walked him face level into a giant spider web. In the extremely unmanly flailing that commenced, the beast bucked him off and took off into the trees.

Snakes were worse than spiders. He didn't know if these snakes were poisonous. He ran like hell just in case.
He finally lost them and counted his blessings that he hadn't run into anything bigger. Maybe all of the stories about this forest were made up to scare knights-in-training. He wouldn't put it past the realm of possibility...QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 6 YOUR HP: 20

So close. He was so close to getting his first artifact and completing his first successful quest that he could taste it. It tasted better than the stale bread in his bag, he'd have you know... A lot of things taste better than stale bread but victory is high on that list.
Just as he neared the magical artifact, magically larger-than-normal birds showed up out of nowhere to fight him. There was immense regret that he'd cursed himself by being thankful for smaller animals chasing him.
Also he wished that his horse was still hanging around so he could distract the eagles with it.
Regardless, he managed not to die from his talon wounds and secured his prize. Hooray!QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 1 YOUR HP: 10

This time, Yuki was planning to retrieve an artifact and actually get it back to the castle without losing it. Because succeeding in a quest and not actually having anything to show for it really made him feel like a failure.
Well, probably because that totally made him a failure but he was going to try to make up for it ok.
He even picked out a different horse from the last trips, because clearly the other one had a problem with him. Hopefully this one would be nice to him. Nice horsey. Maybe there were carrots or apples in this bag of supplies he could bribe it with...QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 31 YOUR HP: 30

Apparently something was going around... How often he was feeling under the weather was pretty bogus.
However through the magic of rerolls will to persevere, the knight-apprentice continued on anyway. Maybe the feeling of unwell would pass. It was normal to be nervous before a mission, he told himself. Especially if that task was something he'd decided to take on alone.
He wasn't alone though, he could probably talk to the horse if he felt like it. Too bad the animal couldn't hold up another half of a conversation. Surely a knight's horse would have quite a few interesting stories to tell. Maybe.

[Rerolling Step 1]
Fortunately Yuki felt quite a bit better and didn't have to rush home after all, but he really could have dealt without meeting a beehive with his <******** face.
The horse threw him off and bolted in approximately four seconds, leaving its rider flailing in the dirt trying to swat away bees and get to his feet. Considering that there had been nothing to do but take in the scenery as he rode, luckily he knew that there was a creek nearby and he ran for it to take a quick dip and hopefully get away from the bees that managed to follow.
So after several bee stings, a cold swim, and a sore everything from falling off of his horse, he could only walk ******** horses were useless. How could something so massive be so easily spooked?QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 31 YOUR HP: 30

Yuki's luck certainly didn't go very well the last time he had taken the trail through this forest, having a horse throw him off and all - something he was getting used to - but hey, this time someone seemed to be looking out for him.
He took time to pack up the nice stash of food that he found, unsure of who was responsible for the random aid but certainly not taking the gift for granted. It had all looked safe to take. Thanks, random stranger!QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 36 YOUR HP: 30

Who needed a damn horse? He had better luck without one, apparently.
Though, it would have been nice to have a horse to help him carry all of this food he kept finding.
Even though this particular crate of goods had a few corpses around it. Fresh ones.

This quest went miraculously well, actually. Yuki was pretty pleased with himself. He might have been tired, but he certainly wasn't going to go hungry and the artifact was right within his grasp.
And he wasn't going to lose it this time.
Nope, he was a good knight-apprentice.
Grabbing hold of the prize, he suddenly heard huge flapping wings and barely missed being snatched up by talons. What was with the animals around here being abnormally gigantic?
At least they didn't seem determined to have him for lunch, and Yuki found his opening to get away from the giant birds and haul a** back toward Camelot.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 36 YOUR HP:20

Another quest, another horse, and plenty of food. Yuki had confidence this time, in himself and his horse. The mare was a friendly one, and he had bribed the animal with a couple of carrots from his stash of food before they set out.
If horses could understand humans, well, this mare might listen to him and keep him on her back until they got the artifact if she wanted some more treats from his bag of food. Food oriented animals were the best kind of animals.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 36 YOUR HP:30

The journey started out well, if Yuki could say so himself. The weather was nice, there were by some small miracle only a few shadowlings to bludgeon into submission and his horse was pretty good at keeping her footing on the loose stone.
Scratch that last part, Yuki clung to the saddle horn for dear life as her hooves slipped and nearly took them both off the steep ledge they were creeping along.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 36 YOUR HP:30
