Any sympathy he might have had for the Oban, even if it had been just a drop in a bucket, was instantly gone with her words. He felt himself stiffen at her words. "Is that your reply? What can you do?" He took a step towards her. "Do you always expect others to do your thinking for you? It only took one person to start building those traditions. Why couldn't one person start to break them?"He shook his head. "Maybe it's just too big for someone like you. You have to want it, and since until this moment it never even occurred to you, I seriously doubt you have the passion for it. So how you can help, well that's up to you. I won't tell you how. If you really are unhappy with what your people have done and are still doing, you'll find your own path."He met her eyes. "Like I have."

Ziari’s quirked an eyebrow, returning the boy’s stare. It wasn’t long before she shook her head and glanced down to her kinfa. “There isn’t much one person can accomplish. Especially one as young as us. The adults...are very set in their ways.” She looked back up to him, lips thinning. “I am Oban and I do live amongst them. I think I know how stubborn they can tend to be. Though…” She trailed off, eying him closely before continuing. “If there were others out there. Those with the same views, and such, then maybe that would be worth looking into.” She shrugged and glanced back to the city. “The world is cruel out there and every race has their bad eggs. Of that I’m sure.”

"Don't tell me what I can accomplish. People younger than me have accomplished great things. Don't put me in the same category as you. I am willing to change things." He leaned forward. "You sit there and give lip service, but when it comes to doing, there is nothing but excuses that pour from your mouth."
He pulled back, his orange eyes flashing. "Change doesn't happening by never trying. Even if I fail I will simply get up again and again until this entire world has been changed."
"Every race has their bad eggs, you say?" He laughed. "But not ever race goes around enslaving people, thinking to conquer everyone." He shook his head. "You just confirmed everything for me. Just how important it is for me to keep moving on my path. Thank you for that."

Ziari huffed, eyes narrowing on the boy as he spoke. She wasn’t like those people he talked about. She wasn’t enslaving anyone and neither were her parents. She paused, a small frown marring her face as she thought on everything else he had said. It was true, though, that she did absolutely nothing to change things. She bought her goods from the market but, aside from leaving Oba, that was unavoidable. She stepped aside, motioning towards the direction the city gates were in. “You should be on your way, then, if I’m such a lost cause. Nothing keeping you here.”

"You're right. The first time in this whole conversation." As he turned he saw the baby kinfa, almost haven't forgotten the animal during the conversation. He gave the bird a sad smile, before swiftly turning away and heading to the gate.
The sooner he found his sister the better. If that girl was what the non-slavers of Oba were like, then he was scared to imagine what the ones with actual slave might be like. He shook his head and continued towards the gate, never taking another look behind him.

Ziari watched the boy head off in the direction of the city. Her gaze only flicking away once he’d disappeared into the city gates. She looked down at Aser, a small, sad smile, much like the boy had given him, on her face. “Sorry, Aser…I’m not so bad, promise.” She sighed and looked back up, her mood for playing long gone. “Let’s go back home, hm?” At the kinfa’s chirrup, Ziari couldn’t help but let the corners of her lips twitch back up into a sort of smile. At least her kinfa liked her. With that, she set off back into the city and back to her home.
