Personality: To be expounded further.
+Friendly, Cheerful, Enthusiastic
Verve is a party animal. She lives in the moment and loves social gatherings with huge energies. It doesn't take much to get her on her feet and dancing to whatever song is playing in her head at the time and she'll dance with anyone available.
Fond of freshlings on principle and forgiving of whatever they may say or do, her opinions of them change once they hit junior age. Usually she ends up blindsided that how she perceived them as freshlings do not coincide with how they are as juniors. It's probably why, despite liking freshlings, she doesn't volunteer to be a big sibling.
-Shallow, Irresponsible, Easily Bored
Also she's irresponsible as all get out. Oh she won't let anything bad happen to a freshling if she can help it but she might not keep future promises if she finds tasks too troublesome or boring. It's not you, it's her.
Her shallowness isn't so much as disliking someone for their appearance but rather she doesn't allow herself to become attached to any one particular Nightmare even on a friend-level. She's much more comfortable with acquaintances because this way they won't expect much (or anything) of her and she won't ever risk disappointing them.
For Outsiders
Verve is a shallow, irresponsible, party-loving party animal. She doesn't "do" responsibility and sees any task that requires her to sit still (like classes, lol) for prolonged periods of time as bothersome and tedious. She's outgoing and loud and borders on obnoxious, if only because "OMG OTHER RACES! SO RAD! MUCH AWESOME!" and seemingly has zero concept of personal spaces or boundaries.
In return, she doesn't begrudge other Nightmares if they reciprocate the lack of boundaries nor if they rebuff her attitude towards personal space. Whether she respects their request for her to back off is another matter entirely, as sometimes (read: often) she just gets so carried away by her enthusiasm that whoops, is that your shoulder I threw my arm around? LOL sorry~
She adores freshlings, often referring to them as Cutelings and will happily accept whatever possible "meanness" (heck, she finds abrasive freshlings absolutely adorable) traits they exhibit as mere cute quirks. She treats juniors much the same way as she does seniors, though, seeing them as simply shorter seniors.
The thing about Verve is that she doesn't want any sort of deep relationship with the other races. Oh she'll happily hang out, happily spend time and chat, but she's not willing to go the extra mile for them. If an event or activity she's being invited to join/participate in will require a little extra effort on her part, and if said event/activity is not something she personally feels passionate about, expect a rain check (or five.) She will go/attend/join/support the cause not the Nightmare behind it.
Trying to use the "but I thought we were friends" argument will result in Verve looking bewildered and ollying out saying "Really? I thought were were just acquaintances."
It also doesn't help that any time Verve starts to feel a bond developing between her and another Nightmare, she will avoid them until she feels they're back on "neutral/acquaintance" territories.
There are two reasons Verve acts this way. The first and strongest reason is her own deep-seated xenophobia that her parents (who are openly and extremely xenophobic) cultivated in her. While she believes she's going against everything her parents taught her, the toxicity of their thoughts left lasting damage. As a result, she unconsciously can't bring herself to form any lasting bond with non-chimeras.
The second reason is her sense of irresponsibility and terror of disappointing others. Verve's loud and obnoxious and immature because she wants to be seen as shallow. And again, because of her xenophobia, she's absolutely fine with non-Chimeras viewing her in a less than flattering light.
For their Race
Verve is surprisingly avoidant of her fellow chimeras. While she is still prone to clan-loyalty, it's something she would rather not have to come up because she knows she'll always side with the chimeras. She reasons that she grew up with other chimeras and Verve feels that she knows enough about them. What she wants is the new unique experience of non-chimeras (though Daydreams are also on the "to avoid" list) and why she would much prefer hanging out with non-chimeras.
Back home where she can't escape interaction with other chimeras, she's more grounded and a little bit more subdued. This is because she worries that her behavior will get back to her parents and the reputation of her tiny offshoot but very ambitious clan is at stake. She's sick of the pressure from her parents and how she never seems to measure up to her older and younger siblings.
She tries her best to appear as calm and collected, which ironically stresses her out though she's more relaxed at the Academy thanks to the freedom of being away from her parents.
For their Clan
Hailing from a small but ambitious offshoot clan, Verve is the equivalent of the "black sheep" (or the Nightmare equivalent) of her clan. She's extremely suppressed and is forced to be this prim, proper, quiet chimera. Because of this, she's passive-aggressive and sometimes purposely performs poorly to spite her parents even if she can be capable at the task. She doesn't get along with her older or younger siblings, who are far more proactive and share her parents' world view and ambition.
While Verve usually just parrots back what her parents want to hear, she doesn't follow through with her promises to "shape up." Something that her parents worry will jeopardize the arranged triad marriage they have planned for her. Verve herself doesn't want to go with the arrangement but is incapable of standing up for herself with her parents so she agrees to it because saying "No" would result in a huge fight. Though it's less a fight and more her parents yelling at her and guilting her into thinking she'll never measure up and is dragging the clan down, and "This isn't what your grandparents fought in the war for!"
As a result, she shut down and developed a conflict-avoidant attitude, which she unconsciously maintained regardless of whom she's dealing with. She rarely ever says what she really feels/means/wants whenever she's with her family and tends to "fold" to their desires. At least she appears to fold to their desires when really she's going to try to sabotage their efforts whenever the end goal involves her life/situation.
She will support her siblings/family if it's a goal for their sake, but the moment it's about Verve herself, it's not going to end well even if it's for her own benefit. She ends up doing the contrary out of spite.
Reason for Attending:
Given the xenophobic attitude of her parents, why would she have been sent to the Academy? Well, her parents see being sent to the Academy as a sort of punishment. The idea of being surrounded by all these grounders (if making up an "ic-derogatory" term for ground dwellers is not allowed, lemme know and I'll change it to ground dwellers) horrifies them, and because they raised Verve to be just as xenophobic as they are (though in their mind, I'm sure they see it as "acting like a proper chimera"), they expect her to react the same way. Verve's older and younger siblings certainly see her enrollment as a punishment, and while they don't get along, they are "sympathetic" to her "plight."
Now and again, Verve gets a little package from home from her siblings (her parents already see sending her a monthly allowance as being unnecessarily generous.) One time, it was a stone from one of the Scepter's peaks with a note reading "Remember who you are and where you're from." She may have thrown the note away but she kept the stone.
