Chalcedony's eyes went wide for a moment before he started to laugh, "Well, I can happily say that is one thing that Chandra never did." He said, glad that he'd never lost his eyebrows to his son having a magical misshap. Likely due to him having a good grasp on the power, perhaps? That and having a good teacher in the form of Takoda he thought to himself, "Glad to hear that it was only his eyebrows that he lost and that he's since gotten them back." Magic was certainly not for everything, that much was for sure. He couldn't imagine Aysun with it for instance. Giving a nod he said, "Yes, he uses magical tomes, always has them in hand, reading them, seeming to be wanting to get every single detail down. He's a serious boy, probably doesn't want to risk anyone see him fail a spell." He gave another nod, "Yeah, Aysun seems to be busy a good deal of the time so that he can keep his beasties healthy and content. So long as he continues to do so I have no reason to get after him about them." Now were he to drop the ball and fail to take care of them correctly that would be something different all together. Not that he could see Aysun failing to care for his pets unless he was sick or something. If that were to happen, truth be told, Chalcedony would have no idea what to do to help. As such he prayed that his younger son remained in good health.

Phaedra chuckled when Chalcedony started to laugh. "Yea, they did grow back. I think one is a little lop sided though, but don't tell him." Her magic skills were hopeless despite having both parents have an affinity for it. She lifted her shoulders slightly. "I'll stick to weapons." The girl gave a nod, almost sagely, as she paused momentarily to buy a fish for the dinner. Once it was wrapped and in her hand she looked at the man she was walking with. "My father uses tomes as well so I can understand the obsessive nature."Farther talk about his sons made her shake her head a little. "You have more patience than I then. I don't think I would be able to put up with a whole zoo." Then again she'd never had a familiar and neither did anyone in her family. "Though I guess if he takes care of them and is happy it's not such a bad thing." Phae still couldn't imagine being trailed by more than one animal. "So would you train me to fight?" She questioned. Her eyes had once again gone to the muscled core that was Chalcedony and a nice blush had appeared on her cheeks. It was odd of her to be thinking in such a way but she supposed she could chalk it up to puberty being vengeful. Clearing her throat she'd move her gaze away from him while she waited for an answer.

Chalcedony lifted a hand to smother a laugh, unable to help himself when it came to the mental image of a man with lop sided eyebrows. It was an amusing picture to behold and now he sort of wanted to see the man in real life to see if he lived up to the image in his mind. Giving a smile he said, "I have a feeling, at least from observing, that magic takes a lot of time and effort, to command the elements in such a manner, it's impressive." Though not exactly how Chalcedony would spend his time. He merely hoped that Chandra was able to put his all into the endevor and come out stronger for it. Nodding along with what Phaedra was saying Chal said, "I have infinite patience when it comes to my sons, I sort of have to since their mother is a very temperamental woman. It helps to balance things out if I am the more patient and calm one." Though he knew it didn't always work out that way, it was just the ideal. Giving a little shrug he said, "Though really when it comes down to it I can't say it bothers me, he takes care of them to the utmost after all, meaning I don't have to." That meant that he could keep the pets, at least in Chal's opinion. As the girl asked him if she would train him to fight his eyes went a bit wide before set to thinking on the question. He wasn't sure if he was the best one to teach her, they weren't using nearly the same sort of weapons after all. Not to mention he hadn't taught anyone before, "I don't know how well I'd do at it. Perhaps asking Aysun to help out since he wields a somewhat similar weapon to the trident you mentioned." That would be catching Aysun and getting him to settle down long enough to help out, it might be difficult but at the same time it would be worth a try.

She had to admire what he said. Patience truly was a virtue. She possessed it, just not in such abundance. Or rather, only with certain people. To everyone she was generally gentle and understanding, but she did have her breaking point. With her father, she was more patient. While Phaedra had moved on from the hurt that her mother had inflicted she knew her dad had not. When Chalcedony mentioned that he wouldn't be able to help much and suggested she ask one of his sons she smiled up at him. "Maybe you could bring him with you to dinner? This way I can meet him and ask." That and she was slightly curious to see what this man's sons looked like. He was exactly what path he'd chosen. A fortress. Were his sons equally as muscular? The leaf girl had to wonder about that. "Uhm.. just, no zoo please. I don't think I can feed all the animals as well." Phae gave a chuckle at the thought.

Chalcedony gave a bit of a chuckle, "Tonight's dinner, that would likely be impossible. Aysun roams around with that zoo of his, I can't exactly say where he might be at the moment. I can catch him at night when he comes home to sleep though. Once I catch him I will see about making some plans so that he can meet with you. As for no zoo, that will be a bit more difficult, but I am sure I can talk him into it." Alright, he wasn't sure at all, but he would still do his best. Giving her a smile he said, "It can be pretty tough at times catching up with my boys, they are growing up and getting so busy, but I will see to it that you and Aysun are able to meet soon." He felt that Aysun would be the better sparring partner for her given their level of skill and their weapon choices being closer to each other then that of Chalcedony himself and Phaedra. They would learn more if they had each other to spar with and him to offer advice from the sidelines, when he felt they were ready though he'd allow them to take a few shots at him in the name of progress though.

Hearing that it would be near impossible for him to rope his son into coming to dinner that night she nodded her head. Phaedra understood being busy as you grew. She seemed to take on more responsibilities as she got older. Must just be something that was done. The leaf girl wasn't sure what adulthood held in store for her just yet. "Well that is fine." It would be asking too much to have her dad be alright with a group of people and animals in the house. Phae offered a giggle when Chalcedony said he would make a way for her to meet Aysun. "Don't force him to meet me if he doesn't want to. I'm not that rude."

Chalcedony seemed to be thinking for a moment before he gave a little chuckle, "It's no much that I want to force him, Phaedra, it's more that I would like him to meet up with you. He needs more friends that aren't covered in feathers or fur." He told her, giving a smile. He wanted to try to get him hanging out with others, with those more like Aysun himself, Earthling friends, maybe even Alkidike friends if they weren't the dangerous sort. It would do his boy some good to have more friends to talk with that might actually talk back. "Come on, if there is anymore shopping that you would like to do we can get that done before we decide to head out. My shopping can wait for now." He would see about the dinner that she'd offered him since he did want to learn more about her and meet her father, then after that he would go and see if he couldn't do his own shopping. He'd likely get home late but so long as he got things done it would all work out.

At first she blinked at the man but eventually the laughter came through. To think that he thought she could be a friend to his son simply because she had no feathers or fur. It made her happy. "Well, would wearing feathers or fur improve my chances of being his friend?" Phaedra jested. She was enjoying the conversation with Chal. As he mentioned more shopping she nodded her head a bit. "I just need to pick up something for my father." Thankfully what she was going for was already ordered and just waiting for her to collect. Once that was done she could head home to make dinner.
