[Part 4] After spending a fair amount of time traveling, Shun settled down to rest once more. His wound still ached, but he did his best to ignore the pain. His task was more important, and if he could not deal with a little bit of pain, then he was likely too weak to become a true knight. That would be unacceptable. A figure approached while he rested, and he found his hand drifting over towards his sword. It was an elderly man, which begged the question of what the hell he was doing out here. Before he could really question him, the old man offered him a small supply of food. Now, Shun was suspicious. Was this poisoned? He begrudgingly thanked the hermit, taking it. He did not really plan on eating anything though, not if he could help it. Once he was finished resting, he continued on. Before too long, he found something in the dirt, deep within a cave of the mountain. He carefully unearthed it, finding a remarkably made tabard. Black with gold accents. Shun took a moment to clean off what he could, then tucked it away. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 25 YOUR HP: 20

The king was still missing. It was troubling, to say in the least. He had taken some time to rest, so it was just about time for him to set back out into the world and see what he could find. Shun packed up a stash of food to carry with him, then fetched Blacktide. "You better not abandon me this time," he muttered to the horse. Shaking his head to himself, he dug his heels into his sides then rode on past the gates. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 23 YOUR HP: 30

Shortly after leaving, Shun paused and looked back. He had a feeling he had forgotten something. He didn't dwell on the sensation for long as he went through a mental checklist of everything he had. All was in place. Once he was certain, he turned back and continued on towards the mountain, traveling at a steady pace. While he rode along, he kept a sharp eye out for potential trouble. That mountain lion that had attacked him last time had cost him a fair bit. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 23 YOUR HP: 30

As always, each quest was going to have its perils. It would be too easy otherwise. At some point, some rocks had come loose, and came crashing down towards him and his horse. He managed to avoid getting crushed. Narrowly. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 23 YOUR HP: 30

Unfortunately, the maneuver required to do what he had just done caused some of his supplies to fall loose. They were now lost under a pile of stone. Once it seemed that the rockfall had settled, Shun carefully inspected the path. The way back was going to require a detour. It was something to keep in mind, but there was no point in returning to Camelot just yet. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 20 YOUR HP: 30

Further along, Shun found another stash of food lying around. He tilted his head as it seemed this was a more common thing than one would think, really. Where exactly was all of this extra food coming from? Were the other knights also on this quest really that careless? Granted, he had lost some of his rations as well, but there was reason for it. The food he lost could not be retrieved. The food he found was just... sitting there. Nicely bundled. With a sigh, he took it and added it to his stash. Shun saw something off to the side. With a furrowed brow, he dismounted and went to investigate what it was. There was a gleam of some sort of metal that caught his eye. It could be another piece of armor, or perhaps something the king had left behind. Hopefully it was not the king's corpse. When he approached however, he heard a light hiss. Before he could question what that was, a large snake had snapped out at him from the corner of his eyes. Grunting, he stepped back and quickly drew his sword to behead the creature. Apparently that grunt of his had triggered something else as well. More rocks were coming down. Cursing under his breath, he dove to avoid getting crushed. He didn't come away completely unscathed this time around, unfortunately. Shun closed his eyes as pain coursed through his body. Now was not the time to rest. He was close to something, he was sure of that much. He pressed a hand to his leg for a few moments, then looked around. At least he could still hear Blacktide nickering close by. Hopefully the horse would stay put long enough so that he could ride back. There. Shun could see some cloth billowing around a corner. "My King, I have come--" he started as he rounded about. There was no king, once more. The king must be in another cave. Instead, he found a mantle, snagged on a branch. Sighing heavily, he took it down. With his injuries, it wasn't wise to continue on. Things were dire, to say in the least. Shun needed to keep working hard. There was a lot at stake, and he wanted to keep at it while he had the chance. If any knight or knight-apprentice out there were slacking, then Camelot may very well fall. And so he left again, setting out to see what he could find and bring back for the sake of the kingdom.
