He had to give her that. Being chased by a spider beat getting shot full of arrows. "Can't fault ye for that!" He was at least relieved they'd managed to keep from getting killed by the volley... or the spider.
Of course, their success was short lived as a large flaming creature flew past. The mare, poor thing as she was going through all this insanity, reared back and let him slam down into the ground as she took off. Neithan slowly rose to his feet, sore still from his last landing on the ground and none too pleased with this outcome. Slowly he looked to Aniu and frowned. "Suppose I'll be walkin' the rest of the way then..."

That he has a tendency to linger towards the back of them certainly assists in this. Slow to speak to others, despite his usually narrowed gaze he can be civil to any he passes. His preference for space and few words might earn him a frosty reputation among some, but the simple attire and warm light brown eyes does match the simple pleasures he finds in smaller gatherings and lighter conversations. All a great contrast to the immensely fiery temper he possesses, something he's still struggling to fully rein in despite training. Neithan is a man of action first, deliberation second, something fueled quite easily in his experience by his sheer size, strength, and explosive determination. "Do you wan't mine?? Because if mine throws me one more time I swear to god I'm going to feed it the the eight legged you know whats." She grumped as she picked herself up. "But no seriously. I'm about ready to just start walking. We're almost through this at least? This better be worth it."
There was suddenly a loud screeching kakaw noise and Aniu groaned just in time to get mauled by a giant eagle. "I GIVE UP." She whined. "GET OFF GET OFF GET OOOOOOOOOOOFF YOU OVER SIZED CHICKEN!"

Neithan gave a small laugh, a rough sound as he shook his head. "No, thank ye. It's better for me t' walk as it is. Hadn't ye been the one t' point out how my height scared the poor beast?" He at least still had the map, and took the time to open it up and take a look. "Aye, we're almost there. Though there's a strange... warnin' on here?" He peered down at the symbols, trying to make out what the map was trying to signal.
Just in time for the screeching to start and Aniu to get attacked by a massive bird. Neithan lunged forward, grabbing at the creature's massive legs and trying to wrench the thing away from the girl. The creature at least turned its attention from her onto Neithan, the man bringing his arms up to defend himself barely in time to avoid the creature from clawing out his eyes. He did manage to release his sword from where it was strapped to his back, lashing out at the creature with a roar of his own.
The eagle screeched again and fled, though Neithan wasn't sure how badly he'd managed to hurt the creature. Huffing, he returned the massive sword to his back and went to help Aniu up. "Just ahead. The artifact should be just ahead at the top of this accursed place."

"So remember when I said people can have tendencies where they just ditch partners because 'holy s**t, do not want to deal with that again.'? This is kinda what I meant. You have seen me in action, wanna rethink you're decision again big guy?" While she posed it as a serious question, the grin on her face was all playful. "Thanks for that. I put forth the motion that, before we try this again, we find a third person again. And maybe some horses that are prone to spooking. Let's grab the thing and split. I think we've done enough for the day."

Neithan smiled a bit. It was just a corner of his mouth that lifted, but hey. A smile was a smile. "Not in the slightest, lass." He patted her gently on the shoulder, unsure of how injured she was. "You do well as a distraction at least for the critters till I'm able t' kill 'em." Though in all honesty, she'd done well. Better than some, he'd imagine. Most?
Still, he was in agreement with her on perhaps getting further assistance next time. And more stable horses. Neithan moved forward to grab up the artifact and looked to her with an edge of exhaustion. "Now for the return trip." At least she still had her horse...
