A laugh came from her. To know that her best friend wanted to meet someone that caught her eyes was amusing. Mostly because she wasn't even sure she would get to see that Alkidike again. Likely not. She'd asked her Gran if the girl was from around here and the older woman had shook her head no. "If I ever see her again, sure." Mentioning of others warming up to him the longer he was around made her nod her head in agreement. "Since you don't have Alkidike blood then they are more likely to accept you faster." While she was always optimistic and believed there was good in everyone, she wasn't so foolish as to think that she would be accepted anytime soon.

"Maybe you're right, but it's the Alkidike blood in you that I've always admired, Ming." He reached over to touch her antennae with a smile. "It makes you unique; special." Callum had always made it clear how cool he thought Ming and her brother were because of their exotic features. To him, his hybrid nature had only brought grief and a sort of washed out appearance, where as they...they stood out.
"If no one here can see that, then maybe you should travel someday." Nodding, Callum rose and brushed off his pants. "So...do you know of any inns around here? I think it might be better to find a place to stay for a while before it gets too late." Of course, asking his friend for a place to stay in the area that was shifter friendly was a tall order!

Him touching her antenna made her shiver slightly. It always did. Those things were sensitive. Still, Ming'we smiled at him. "Thanks, Cal." She followed suit and got up from the ground so that she could dust herself off. "I'll have to travel soon anyways. I need a teacher and there aren't many in this area." Ming tilted her head as she was asked about inns. Sadly she didn't. Mostly she avoided the village if she could. It wasn't like she wanted to be stared at or even attacked for what she was. "I don't, but you don't need one. You are always welcome to stay with us, Cal. My mother has always adored you and my Gran won't mind." Yes, her Grandmother was strict about the rules but she did so only to keep Ming'we and her brother safe from those that disliked hybrids.

"When you decide to travel out, let me know. If you want some company, that is." Callum really could use a chance to stretch his legs. Spending most of his life as a nomad meant that staying in one place for as long as he had was pretty much a torture in itself. Maybe one day he would explore on his own, but until then, why not with a friend?
"If they don't mind having me, I would love to take you up on that! I've missed your mother." Of course, he missed both of her mothers, but some things couldn't be changed. "Oh! Here, it's not much but-" Callum twisted so he could dig into his hip pouch. After a few moments of fiddling the gangly youth held up a handful of rocks and edible roots. "I understand if you'd rather not take them, but they're from Sauti. I thought it would be a good reminder of what I had, so I took them with me, you know, so I wouldn't forget. I'm not the only one whose made a big trip, though, so I thought you might like some."

"You would travel with me?" Ming'we smiled at Callum. It meant a lot to her that he would offer to travel with her when she decided to leave home. Even if he didn't actually go. Since she loved him just as much as she did her brother it brought a grin to her face. "I'll remember that, Cal." When he dug into his pouch she blinked as she waited. Seeing the rocks made her give a sentimental look before she reached out to take them. Pieces of home. Why hadn't she thought to bring some with her when she'd left? "Thank you." What Callum had given to her was more than simple rocks. It was her home. It was part of her mother.

"For a ways. I wouldn't want to hold you back, but a trip would be nice." Of course, Callum wouldn't dare speak of his desires to find his own path. That in itself would only breed worry, and it would take the concern off of Ming'we, which is where it should stay. His friend was a dear, precious sister to him and while Callum could afford to have bad tidings happen to him on his trip he would stop at nothing to make sure hers was safe.
The lanky youth put his arm around her shoulder and gave her a comforting squeeze. "Let's go see if your mother will be as surprised to see me as you." His tone was light hearted, and teasing, though he feared the reaction of the older Alkidike. Ming's mother was a friend, but her mother? That would be interesting.
It gave him something to ponder over on the short walk back to their home. How many Shifters could say they had been welcomed in this part of Jauhar? A little smile of a rare pride cropped up. Yes, he rather liked the thought of it.
