Eternal Senshi

PostPosted: Fri May 15, 2015 2:59 am

Ganymede appreciated the clasping fingers from Ida and made sure to squeeze back as a show of thanks and reassurance. Indeed, she was physically healed from her ordeal. Looking at her now, one might not even be able to guess that she'd been apart of it. But there were other scars that couldn't be healed so easily, those more emotional and psychological in nature.

She was careful to leave her face blank when Ida described her ceremony and kept her eyes away from her. No one needed to know what else had occurred during that situation unless Ida herself felt it pertinent to share. Instead, Ganymede squeezed Ida's hand again as a show of support. Certainly Ganymede didn't think any less of her for it.

With Megrez's arrival, Ganymede released her old on Ida's hand. She offered the egg Senshi a bland smile, confused as to what the other Senshi meant to tell her, but as it seemed Megrez meant to do so later, Ganymede didn't push the subject. There would be plenty of time once the meeting was over for individual conversation.

In any case, the arrival of two others, a Knight and another Senshi, had Ganymede's attention temporarily pulled away from the conversation. She knew neither of the two new arrivals personally, but she knew there names and was sure she'd seen at least one of them (the Senshi) during other occasions. What drew her to them was not her familiarity with them, but the fact that she knew them as two others who had been through the ordeal that was New Years.

“Celsus, Penthesilia, I... my name is Ganymede,” she said. It felt like an awkward introduction, but she also felt the need to do so personally. There was a kinship between the three of them—or at least there was in her mind. They'd all been through that hell and come out of it alive.

“I was... over New Year's...” she tried to explain without going into too much detail and bringing back too many horrible memories. “I was there...”

She rubbed at her stomach, like she could still feel the cold burn of the starseed within. It struck her as something she may want to talk about, as she knew no other Senshi or Knight who'd been forced to consume a starseed, but she wasn't sure if this was the right place or the right time for it.

Liryn had turned startled purplish eyes in Babylon's direction at the Knight's comment that he was guessing that none of those currently gathered had tried to shove their ancestor's damaged starseed into their chest because it sounded very much like the brown-haired knight had gone ahead and done exactly that.

But how was that even possible? As far as he knew people couldn't go around just putting starseeds into chests - well not unless said starseed happened to be your own and if that was the case then you probably weren't going to be in much shape to be doing so.

And yet somehow, based on Babylon had just told them, he had somehow managed to put a starseed that wasn't his own, albeit one that was damaged, into his chest and someone called Sailor Cosmos had saved his life.

Not that Sailor Cosmos was a name that Liryn recognised, not from his wanderings and not (at least he didn't think so) from his time to time skim reads of the Senshi Primer. He made a mental note to perhaps look through it again in more detail - just in case the mentioned Sailor Cosmos was in there and he'd just overlooked them.

Next up to speak was the Squire and Liryn couldn't help fluffing up in unhappiness as the red-haired man talked about committing ritual murder, until he looked like a little fluff ball in Ida's lap.

The casual way in which he talked about it made Liryn kind of want to give the Squire a good hard n**, but he had a feeling that Ida probably wouldn't be happy if he went ahead and did so.

There was also the matter that as designated aura-blocker for the night that she was counting on him to make sure to do just that and even though Lucasta was here to help, Liryn was not the sort of cat to just dump all the aura blocking on her... Even the Squire really could do with a good n** and a hard one at that.

The Negaverse not being able to take starseeds seemed to be a recurrent trend though as Babylon, Camlann and Ganymede all mentioned it.

Ida mentioned being able to give energy and that she seemed to energy-drain faster. She also mentioned that she seemed to run into more youma when she was out on patrol and come to think about it, now he was thinking about it there did seem to be more youma about on the occasions when he joined her on patrol.

He didn't get a chance to ponder it for too long as another senshi arrived - this one an orange-haired eternal - and he couldn't help the exclaimation of "I remember you!" as she made her way over to Ida.

She had been there at the rescue along with a Page and another senshi, but she had been a Super senshi at the time and she hadn't had the glowing marks that made him think of feathers. It wasn't the first time that he'd met her - that had been in a warehouse full of bodies and he'd wanted to bite her at the time because she was picking on a Squire...

But he hadn't wanted to since then because she'd been okay from what he'd remembered when they'd been on Avalon and she and those with her had helped him try and rescue the white haired Eternal from the Lieutenants in the 'Fun House' rescue.

Which reminded him "That white-haired eternal, she made it out okay" not that he had seen her since that chance meeting earlier on in the year, but he thought that the orange-haired senshi that had mentioned that 'Penthe would be there soon-ish' had the right to know.

Two others followed not long after, the first another Knight, who apologised for being late in a voice that had an accent and the other...

The other was super glowing, from markings that seemed to be quite literally practically from head down to foot.

And she also seemed to be the mentioned Penthe based on Ganymede's greeting to her.

If Camlann hadn't been aware that Babylon was an idiot before, he certainly was now. He had never consumed a starseed, but he knew too many of them could turn you monstrous--that was when they were dying embers of a fire, not a roaring flame. "Doors open on my Wonder that would not before," he said. "And once a week, instead of once every two weeks." He was still working on the puzzle of the pounded linen notes. "No new uniform. Minimal glow."

He pointed at Celsus, a halfassed gesture. "You're one of the Zodiac knights, are you not? You were a hostage." It was a short list of people kidnapped, to be sure, but if he remembered things from his past life he was damn well going to remember them.

"No one has attempted to energy-drain me, and I cannot give energy. As for youma, I do not actually transform that often. I couldn't say."

The name Ganymede rung a bell; Celsus turned towards the young woman, eyes widening in recognition as he stepped towards her, cape swishing about his shoulders.

"Ah, yes," he said, and his smile was gentle, tone rueful. "I'm sorry that the last time we were...well, in the same situation, it was somewhat less than ideal. It is much more pleasant to meet you now, when we are not concerned over our lives."

The one with the glowing orange marks was given a brief nod, as well as the dark haired, lavender marked one. Celsus stretched out a hand towards Ganymede, an offering of kinship such as the one already in the senshi's mind. "I hope that since then, you have been doing well?"

His eyes flickered towards Camlann. "Yes, I am a Knight of the Zodiac," Celsus answered cheerfully. "And also a hostage, yes, though admittedly the former of those two descriptions is the one I prefer. I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name...?"

He trailed off expectantly, eyebrows raised in curiosity.

”Oh, right! Yes… I can travel more often to Ida, too. I forgot that part.” The purple senshi said with a wry smile. Altogether… it was a lot of changes in them. “And I suppose, the different feel to our signatures as well…”

Ida drifted off as she perked up, a familiar-not-familiar red head arrived and barged past the others to reach for her hands.

“Megrez! Oh, hello! My goodness, look at you…” She laughed, feeling warmed and slightly embarrassed by the enthusiastic greeting. She was still smiling, though, as she squeezed the other girl’s hands. “I didn’t know you were glowing too… Its so good to see you, and meet, I suppose. Officially.”

That seemed to be the theme lately.

“I’m glad you could come. If you need to talk to me, maybe we can go somewhere after this?” She offered another squeeze of the gloves hands because there were more people arriving. One was a more recently familiar red head and a young male she’d never met before.

“Welcome!” Ida said as she turned to each. “I’m glad everyone could come… and unless someone unexpected shows up, this is everyone I expected, and more.”

Hurring to jump in as Celsus asked for names, Ida pointed to each of them in turn.

“This is Ganymede, Megrez, and Penthesilea. The knights are Babylon and Camlann, and my name is Ida. The Mauvians suppressing our auras are Liryn, my team’s cat, and Lucasta, who came with Ganymede. We were just sharing what happened when the glow appeared, and the differences we’ve found since then. We’ll probably have to repeat for the new arrivals…” Ida said as she ran her fingers down Liryn’s back. “I had a memory from my past life, and recreated the ritual that passed the duty from one Sailor Ida to the next. I planted a tree as a headstone on my homeworld, and took an oath. Among the things that we’ve found are, um… being easier to energy drain, being able to travel twice as often to our homeworlds, having a different aura feel, glowing marks on our skin, increased youma finding us, and the Negaverse being unable to touch our starseeds. Ah… most of us can share energy, but Camlann said he can’t. We heal faster than everyone else, especially on our homeworlds, and our homeworlds are more… awake than they were before. And our magic for fighting is not as strong.”

Was that everything? It was hard to keep it all straight.

The group quickly expanded outwards in size, and though Babylon did his best to keep track of all the new names and faces, it was still a lot of people who he'd never met before. He took a step back, moving to stand beside Camlann - as the only squire here, Babylon felt protective of him.

"When it was only me, and coming on the heels of such a severe injury, I thought that the changes I was experiencing must be an accident," he said to the group. "But after those strange dreams - and now that I see there are so many of us in the present - what's happening to us seems like it might be more deliberate. We all got to this point in our own ways - but the end results are more or less the same."

"Transcendence - or whatever we want to call it - is some kind of natural process," he said. "Same as any other magic."

Babylon shrugged - he hoped everyone else was following along, because he thought he might be onto something. "So let's just ignore me because obviously I am Babylon Georg and am an outlier who should not be counted," he said, "But I think there's probably a pattern going on. Something that everyone did that led to this."

Ida shared Camlann's name before he got a chance to, which earned her a scowl. Rude. If Camlann wanted to share his name, Camlann would share his own damn name. "As she said," he said testily. "Camlann of Saturn."

Either way, it was done. He shifted his stance. "Sailor Ida completed a ritual on her homeworld that was meant to be done by each senshi, and accepted her duty as a senshi," said Camlann. "I... attempted... to protect the inclade from a criminal. You set your ancestor free." (He knew the story of the transcendence markings.) "I've noticed no change in my ability to fight." The rest of them were clearly just terrible at it. He'd bet on it. "I beat a knight in solo combat recently."

"You remember! I can't believe it," Megrez said, shooting a quick look and wave at the Mauvian who also expressed recognizing her. Everything seemed to be going swimmingly, and she paid attention as the names were listed, or at least she did till a certain name came up.

Camlann. She knew that name, all right. Someone who had nearly murdered one of her precious people was standing right there. The silly grin swiftly faded from her face when the Squire confirmed his identity, and she felt something drop in her stomach. A very quiet "C-come again?" slipped past her lips as she stared right at the Saturn Squire. She would not dare start a quarrel here and now unless something went awry, but it would not be easy to chase away her unease. She swallowed and forced a pleasant smile. "Um, it's very nice to meet you all."

When Ida listed off the apparent effects of transcendence, Megrez tried to take mental notes as well as she could through her shock. At one point, she felt compelled to add her own two cents. "I can't share energy either, but I can throw one more big egg. That's my Super magic. As for what I did, I did a ritual that my past self talked about. I communed with the past senshi and left a blessing for the next senshi through a song, and when that was done, I ended up like this."

Transcendence... The word tugged at Ida's memory and it pulled her head up, her attention shifting to Babylon. She felt like a missing piece had clicked into place and with it came a small upswing in her energy.

"Yes! That's what we called it, in ah... In my memories." She said, tripping a little over how to refer to that other time. It hardly felt real any more, but at the same time, as real as anything else that had ever happened to her. Everything else was things other people had witnessed, though... those memories came from a time that didn't exist and might never. It often felt like nothing more than a dream or a trick of her mind. "That name feels right. I don't know what else we'd call it..."

Ida glanced at Megrez, wondering at the tension in the girl who had seemed so bubbly moments before. Had something been said to upset her? The eternal reached out for her wrist, curling her fingers gently around it in wordless support and unspoken question. What was going on?

"I tend to agree with Babylon... We did something to cause this, but its hard to draw connections here. Everyone's experience are different, some more so than others. The effects seem to be the same, except for the energy thing." Biting her lip, Ida glanced over at Ganymede, hoping she wouldn't put up a fuss about this.

"I feel like... maybe we should share the information we've put together with the rest of our side. There could be others of our faction out there who don't know about us, or vice versus. It could be important for them to know these things, rather than risk being caught off guard by it. If our faction knows what's happening to us, then if it happens to someone new, they can know what to expect and can make contact with the rest of us." Ida released Megrez to spread her hands. "I'm just a fan of spreading information and connecting, but I understand if not everyone feels that way."

Babylon felt the change in energy, the odd tension between Megrez and Camlann that had only happened after the squire introduced himself, and adjusted his position slightly to stand between the two of them. He smiled at Ida, trying to lighten the mood, and said, "I agree. Knowledge is power, and the more information our side has at their fingertips, the better."

Clearing his throat, he continued, "I know a knight who's been doing really amazing things with the technology we have available - she made an upgrade for the knight rings a while ago that completely overhauled their functionality, and I'm planning to ask her if there's any way to make a mass communication function - sort of like a listserve. Being able to get information to everyone more easily would be win-win."

"Being incorruptible is nothing to sniff at," he added. "Right now, it might be one of the only advantages we have. I don't think any harm could come from more people knowing that this exists."

Camlann shrugged. "It should be spread," he said. "Chaos is a cancer, one for which inoculation is possible. This seems to come from our relationship with our pasts. Sometimes literally." He gave Babylon an arch look. He knew how he felt about the act of shoving starseeds into one's chest without adequate research. "We should encourage those around us to get closer to their past selves. Or ancestors. It would seem there's power there to be had."

Ida was entirely pleasant, and very helpfully introduced everyone. Celsus' eyes traveled around to each of the people that she gestured to, nodding in greeting at all of them. He knew hardly any of them, and only a few of them were vaguely recognizable, but this was mostly Celsus' fault for being so distant for the past year.

It was rather nice, knowing he was not the only one affected by things, that he was not alone.

"I was, ah...going through a rough time," said Celsus thoughtfully, and a little ruefully. He tapped a finger against his chin as he mulled over his thoughts. "I was growing distant and displeased, and I had thought that I was abandoned, but my princess, Princess Chronos - " There was a definite note of affection and respect in his voice at her name. " - she came and found me, gave me a task to complete on my Wonder. I met with my ancestor there, he...helped me, and well..."

Celsus smiled brightly. "Here I am."

Camlann was certainly a little...well, not dramatic, Celsus supposed, but intense was a word for him. He gave a little nod of agreement.

"I think it all circles back to being more...in-tune, I suppose? with our past selves, or our ancestors, on our home planets or Wonders," he said, still contemplating things. "And now we're incorruptible, as Babylon says, that's an incredible gift we've been giving. It can be used towards good, I feel."
