Nodding sympathetically, Namaka did her best to hide her smile.
"Fights happen sometimes, little dude. Best course to steer is to make sure if you gotta fight, you're doing it for the right reasons and being smart about it. Which it sounds like you are."
She wasn't at all sure who Horatio was, but part of her wanted to go have a long talk with him about telling a kid to hunt down monsters.
"Until you hit a growth spurt, my friend," she said thoughtfully, "I think a stick is your best bet from a purely physical standpoint. Gives you more reach and makes it harder for them to grab you. Throwing things works too. Hurt 'em from a distance and stay safe until you can do your finishing move."
If she had her way, Oort would never be allowed out to fight. But that would be taking his choice from him and this was clearly a kid who took his responsibilities seriously.

Oort wrinkled his nose a little at the 'little man' comment, but apart from that made no comment, his reddish eyes serious as he listened to Namaka's words.
They made sense and he found himself giving her a nod "I'll try that if I come across any more of the monsters and can't find a stick" he said.
Although it wouldn't be tonight, since it was getting kind of late.
"I have to get back" he said. "But it was neat meeting you" and he meant it - because odd 'little man' comment aside Namaka hadn't tried to treat him like a little kid and she had the whole shark skin magic going on which was pretty neat.
He turned and took a couple of steps before hesitating and turning back "By the way, be careful around the sandpit because there was a monster there once."
Then he gave a small wave and turned round again before heading for home.DaisyMilk Oort closing tag on my end

Nodding in satisfaction as her words apparently found a home, Namaka blinked a little in surprise. Was it really that late? A quick glance around showed that it was. Smiling as the kid excused himself, she stood up and stretched.
"It was a pleasure meeting you too, Oort the Incredible," she said with a smile. "And thanks for the warning! I'll be careful."
For a moment, she thought about giving him some cautions too, but he already seemed like he had a good grasp of being careful. So instead, she waved back and waited until he was out of sight to turn and make her own way home.
