Ah that wasn't a good thing. She knew from experience that the time that it took to load a arrow could get you killed.
"No? I'm sure there might be someone else of mixed blood that could teach you. Or travelers? That's the only good thing, we have people from everywhere her. I'm sure there might be someone in Ast that could help?" she smiled. "At the very least they would have a weapon there for you to practice with? Unless of course you have one and I'm just assuming that you don't'?"

"Mm, no, I don't have a weapon yet." And it wasn't for lack of trying. Her mother and gran were against her having an earthling weapon in the house. They were traditional Alkidikes. Still she seemed to perk up when Ilyra mentioned that there might be someone to teach her in Ast. "Oh? I will have to travel to Ast then and find out." It would be good for her to have some training now so that she could get acquainted with the crossbow. Or at the very least get better accuracy.

She nodded. "In my experience Ast is pretty much the most open minded place there is. For people like us, people that are different, it's normally a good idea to go there to get things. I'm sure there will be someone that will help you. I wish I could be of more help, but I know nothing about crossbows." she laughed.
"So what were you doing out here, before I rudely interrupted you." she said with a smile. She did feel bad for their rude introduction, but at least the other girl didn't seem to hold it against her.

She was happy to hear there was somewhere in Jahaur that she could go to get what she needed. A weapon and a teacher perhaps. She would hate to have to go farther from her family to do so. Ming'we knew she would have to leave home in order to peruse her dream of being a sniper, but she didn't want to go too far. "Oh, I was just out here practicing my aim." Of course she didn't have a bow or a single arrow on her person. Instead she pulled a crude looking sling shot from the back of her waist band. "Of course, yours is more deadly than mine."

She smiled. "We all have to start somewhere. If you want you could practice with my bow? It's now what you want to use, and the aim is a little off, but it's better then a slingshot. In fact, this is just my practice bow, my real one is back home getting repaired, so if you want it until you can get yourself a cross bow..." she trailed off, holding the bow in her hand. She was always willing to be helpful, and she had a feeling that this women didn't get a lot of help from her other sisters.

Ming'we gave a grin. Start somewhere indeed. The slingshot she held in her hand was the same one she'd picked up as a youngling. Ever since she had been repairing it on her own so that she still had something to practice with. When Ilyra offered to let her use her bow she blinked. "Oh, no I couldn't.." The blonde did her best to wave her hands but paused when the alkidike practically offered the bow to her to use until she could get her own weapon. "That is very nice of you but I'm not sure when I would be able to return it, so maybe it's best if I don't."

"You wouldn't have to return it. Consider it a welcome gift." she held the bow out. "From one oddity to the next." she teased.
"No but seriously. My aunt is a weapons maker, and she has tons of practice bows laying around. It won't be a loss for me, but it can be something to help you practice." it would also make Ilyra feel better about letting the halfling wander around. The forest could be dangerous, and she needed more then just a slingshot.

A gift? Ming'we stared at Ilyra. "Really?" She smiled, dimples showing, and reached out for the bow. At the alkidike's teasing she giggled. "We are not oddities. We are rarities." She nodded her head to affirm what she'd just said. Hearing that the girl's aunt was a weapons maker she went slightly wide eyed. "How lucky you are!" Ming felt a bit envious of that fact. If she had a weapons maker in her family it would be easier to obtain the weapon she wanted.

She liked that view. That she was a rarity. She would have to use that line one day. "I like how you think." she said with a smile.
She laughed. "Yes I am. Her name is Dyakida. When you get older you should seek her out. She makes the very best of everything, though in your case you might have to give her time. I've never seen her make a crossbow."

With a smile she'd do her best eye batting, giving a bit of a flirt Ilyra's way, and reply. "I like the way I think too. It's verrry refreshing." Ming'we gave a chuckle afterwards. Sometimes she could be a real ham about herself but this time she was simply playing around. Bow in hand she'd think about the offer to seek out Ilyra's aunt. "She wouldn't mind... someone like me?" It was one thing to have a family member that was different and accept them, but an entirely different thing to accept a stranger that was different. Last thing Ming wanted was to cause problems for Ilyra.

Ilyra laughed. If she wasn't infatuated with her girlfriend, which she hoped was still her girlfriend, then she might have flirted with the girl. She was a halfling, but a pretty one. "I couldn't agree more." she teased back.
"No. For starters she's blind, so unless you tell her she might assume you are one or the other. Most likely an earthling since it's an earthling path. But even if you do tell her she won't mind. My mother and aunt have always been open minded about mixes. When I was really young there was another youngling that lived with us, she was all kinds of mixed." she reassured the girl.

a pet dino D: I thought I replied to this yesterday. I am soooo sorry. //guilty. Hearing the condition of Ilyra's aunt made her pause and blink dumbfounded. How could a weapons maker be blind? Ming'we wasn't about to straight up ask that, as it would be rude, but the curiosity was written all over her face. Still she nodded her head. "Good to know I won't be turned away then." The promise of being able to seek someone out to make her a weapon was a weight lifted off her shoulders that she hadn't even realized was there. Her pure blue eyes dropped down to the bow she held. It was only now that she realized the quality of the weapon. Practice, though it was, it still had good merits. Even with the wear from being used. "I probably won't need one for a while yet, but maybe you could tell her that I might seek her out at some point?" At least if Ilyra did that it might take some of the surprise out of her visit when the time came.

She laughed. "Yeah most people feel odd about a blind weapons maker, but I assure you she is amazing at her craft. She has a way with the materials she uses that I've never seen before. Plus she can't fight, so it gives her a place among us." she had no problem talking about Dyakida's blindness, and she figured that her aunt wouldn't mind either. It was something made her special. Like Ilyra's skin.
"I'll happily mention you the next time I see her. It's actually better that way, so that if she needs special material for it I can start searching for it." She was happy to help this sister, especially since it was obvious from this first encounter that not everyone else had been.

This was amazing to hear. "I will have to ask her if I might watch her at her craft then. I feel like it would be mind blowing." And Ming'we meant that. The amount of detail the woman would be able to feel with just her fingertips would floor the hybrid if she ever got to experience it. Even just thinking about it made her look down at her hands and tilt her head curiously. Generally one thought of calloused hands when they thought of a weapons smith but a blind one would need to keep their hands soft so they could feel, right? The blonde came back when Ilyra said something about special materials. "Oh, if she needs something specific please tell me and I will search for it."

"It is. As a youngling I often sat quietly and watched her. It's amazing. The detail she is able to create... It's just amazing. Many of the elders and older sisters have weapons made by her. People come from all over looking for her." well not all over, not yet, but Ilyra knew one day they would.
She laughed. "You can't steal my job, I've been doing it for her since I moved in with them. Though I would love the company. We could look together. It makes you feel more connected to the weapon, if you search for the materials yourself."
