Carib laughed. "Depends on what you're hunting," he replied, and left it at that. He gave another stretch, this one to make sure all his muscles were properly awake, then sat up. Though he didn't ooze grace the way a feline could, his movements were practiced and quiet efficient as he climbed out of his hammock on the opposite side of where the big cat was perched.
"If you're worried about inconveniencing me, you can put that to rest by helping me get this thing down. Having one less tree to climb make me very not inconvenienced." He flashed the cat a quick smile, a smile that held mischievous humor in the corners of his mouth and the way his eyebrows quirked up, then he set to untying the knots on his side of the hammock with the same clean efficiency he had shown when climbing out of the suspended netting.
"Nightclubs do have their fair share of drunks and idiots getting kicked out," Carib admitted as he worked. "But they're still enjoyable. It's nice, you know, just letting go and not worrying about being serious." If the impression he'd been getting was correct though, he'd bet kitty cat rarely did anything that wasn't serious. He wondered what it would be like if he could get him in a nightclub and on a dance floor. He was curious, quite curious indeed, but decided not to push too hard. Not yet. "If that's not your style though there's always the local parties. Mostly for tourists, but there's a few that hold to traditional style of dancing and performing." He glanced up at the cat and gave another of his quick, impish smiles. "I know some of the dances myself. They're excellent for exercise."

He frowned. Winking as a trap or a lure, then, not a spear? So this would be a metaphor in this language. Perhaps... "Ah, you refer to the 'hunt' for a mate or a lover. Yes, that would be a useful bait to trap a mate, I think. Depending on circumstance," he added. "Some mates are better trapped with different lures."
That mischievous smile promised nothing but trouble. It was starting to worry him quite deeply what this hummingbird was up to. But, on the other hand, he didn't want to inconvenience the other, truly he did not, and if the way to pay him back for the inconvenience was to help him with the hammock, well, that was a price that he was willing to pay. He untied the hammock and began to roll it up. "Drop your end, please, and I will carry it to the ground." The hammock looked a bit heavy, but no heavier than a quiver of spears. He had carried those up and down trees to the upper canopy before; it would be no trouble to carry this hammock down to the ground. He wouldn't want to carry it all night, but he could carry it, at least, for now.
Relaxation...the very idea of relaxation...of not being serious... It was tempting. A'ka's heart was so heavy with sorrow it was a wonder he could even stand, and he couldn't even remember the last time he was not on edge. He knew he acted stiff. He knew he acted stern, as though he had no idea what fun was. But he also knew that his friends from childhood would scarcely recognize the panther in front of them now, and not just because of the wings. He ached to let go.
He forgot about temptation. He forgot about being proper and doing right by his ancestors. He forgot about all of that. "I...would be willing to try out a nightclub, if you think it would be interesting. If I do not like it, I would be willing to try out the local parties. I think my own dances would likely match the traditional style of which you speak." He didn't realize it, but A'ka was smiling at the hummingbird--a genuine smile, albeit one full of longing and love long lost.

His languid nature might cause some to think he was lazy, but it wasn't the case. Still, he certainly wouldn't turn down an offer of help. "Since you insist, I won't argue," he chuckled. Carib waited until kitty had rolled up most of the slack from the hammock, slowly feeding out his own line until he was holding only the end of the rope, then let it go so the rest could be folded.
He watched the male's face as he folded the hammock. Several emotions flitted by, all so brief that he couldn't really tell what they were, but it seemed he'd gotten kitty's interest. He was just about to mention he knew the perfect place, in his best purr of a voice, and maybe add a wink or sidelong glance, when kitty threw that smile at him. That darn smile!
Carib suppressed a deep sigh. Damn. And kitty thought he played games. If the smile wasn't so genuine, it would have made Carib suspicious. Well, this just meant he'd have to alter his plans a little. Not by too much. No matter what he clearly wasn't going to get more tonight than a bit of fun by teasing the big male. Even if he could have seduced him, he wouldn't have. Everything kitty was saying seemed to conflict with his body language, the little glances sent at Carib when Carib moved a certain way. It was just begging for trouble to get involved with someone seemingly so conflicted without first knowing a bit more about them.
Carib had hoped to take kitty to an actual nightclub, since he'd agreed to try, just to see if the male could let loose and have fun. It would have been enjoyable to watch. But that smile made him revise his plans, decide on something that was less about fulfilling Carib's sense of entertainment and more about making sure kitty had a good time as well.
"I know just the place then, if you're free tonight. It's quite popular, but I know the owner so I'm sure they can squeeze us in even if the event is booked." Carib chuckled, and began his descent from the tree. "It pays to be a bit of a nosy nuisance. Some people find it charming, so I've got quite a few friends all over the place."
Once Carib reached the ground, he did indulge in the deep sigh he'd held back earlier. "Since I'll be your guide, at least for a little bit, I suppose I should give you my name." He wrinkled his nose. "Try not to laugh, it's a bit of a mouthful. Caribbean Sunrise. People just call me Carib though, or Car. I only told you my full name cause if my friend agrees to let us join the luau, and I'm sure he will, he'll probably make a couple jokes about it in your presence. It's easier to just get it all out now rather than endure the awkwardness later."
