Tesla held a brief moment of silence for sweet, sweet ignorance.
"Oh ********. Oh ******** NO! Uh-uh, nope. That is /not/ what they told me. I said I was looking for technical machines and that I was willing to split the profit with my informant. They pointed me at this van. There was noooo mention of a bunch'a uniformed fruit cakes who twirl mustaches in their free time." She paused. "Uh...no offence."
Clearing her throat, Tesla barrels on. "Look man, I just got off the boat. Completely fresh here. You want to take me out for ignorance fine but I'd be more pissed at tweedle-dee and tweedle dumb. They're the one's who gave me your number. Lucky for you guys, I'm incompetent but what if I had been an undercover cop or something? They didn't check me for wires. Heck, I didn't even have to /pay/ Mike. Dude started singing the minute I batted my eyelashes."

Her response caused Jerome's eyes to widen a little more, watching the girl as she realized just who she had been trying to rob, making it very clear that she at least knew of them. No surprise there though.
"... Uniformed fruit cakes?" Ryan repeated in a confused mutter, glancing over to his follow grunts who shook there heads. All but Kyle who's brow furrowed in his frown.
"Oh bull s**t" Kyle spat "You're only saying that becasue you actually got caught!"
"Mike y'said?" Jerome spoke, overriding Kyle's concerns and causing the Grunt to fall silent. "Th'one from the Grifs?"

Pointedly ignoring the peanut gallery, Tesla nods. "Big dude with a scar? Looks like he's trying for poster child of Thugs R Us? Not much of a sense of humor? Yeah, that Mike." She wiggles against the pavement. "Look, can we maybe talk with your hands not around my throat? Both of us got played here so no reason we can't be civil, yeah? Here, I'll even take off my mask as a sign of good faith.
If allowed, Tesla would slowly remove her gas mask. The thick, black plastic was peeled away with a sharp sigh of relief; revealing Amber eyes and pale features partially hidden by a second mask. After pulling that down too, Tesla met Jerome with a 100 watt smile despite the nerves. Thieves thrived on secrets but this time a mask would work against her. Hiding her face would only serve to de-humanize her. It's why execution style was always to the back of the head. Faces made you people and people are hard to shoot.

Jerome narrowed his eyes in a contemplative manner rather then a threatening one. He said nothing for the time being, eying her for a few more seconds, and not moving to stop her when she reached up to remove her mask. On the contrary, Jerome moved his arms and hands away from Tesla's neck and shoulder, though he kept a hand on her arm just in case she decided to run off.
"You a Griff?" He asked bluntly "F'ya ain't what ******** ya doin' dealin' with em?"
Kyle threw his hands up a little when Jerome made to let the little thief go, Great, here he went again, for as scary as this guy could be he sure seemed to be too soft. "Sir are we really just going to let her talk her way out of this?"
"Guess th'a depends on what she gatta say bout it." Jerome said, though more to Tesla then Kyle.
Bro, who had drifted back over to Jerome, was letting out hiccups that reeked of Tesla's bomb, dull smoke puffing out of his mouth and causing the Rockets to turn faces at the discomfort. "Bro ya ********' stink." Jerome grunted "Back up off us!" The dark skinned man eyes Tesla "what s'tha he ate?"

Sitting up, Tesla watched the ghost pokemon with wide eyes. She'd never seen that type so close before. Now that things had calmed down a bit she took a moment to indulge in her curiosity. What exactly made it a 'ghost'? Was it a dead pokemon or something? It kinda felt dead, and Tea shivered at the memory of a tongue as cold as a morgue.
Flexing her fingers, Tesla glances to Jerome at the question. "Hmmm? Oh just hot peppers, ethnyol alcohol, and water. I mean..it's obviously not a good idea to drink it but...uh...yeah no clue how something like that would affect ghost pokemon. Maybe milk would help? Or ketchup?"
Turning back to watch the pokemon, Tesla continues. "And no, I'm not with the Gryfs. Told you, fresh off the boat. Was led to believe they had good information." A snort. "As to why they didn't live up to the hype...I dunno. Maybe get rid of the competition? Makes you wonder what they'd do if I had actually succeeded.

Bro- being part poison type was used to inhaling, ingesting and pretty much living among a number of noxious and terrible things without having too much of an impact on him. He did however know what kind of affects they could have on his partner, his brother, his best friend. Thus had no complains when it came to swallowing down a foul substance to keep it away from Jerome. He had to admit he enjoyed how bad a** it made him look too, and was currently relishing the wide eyed look the girl was giving him.
Jerome glanced over to Bro when the girl mentioned that it wouldn't be good to drink it, "Figure he's swallowed worse s**t." He commented, looking back at her "He did his job." Bro laughed, sending another reeking breath their way.
Jerome pulled a face of disgust, not letting go of Tesla's arm he moved to step away from Bro, who just continued to cackle and drift farther away. "Ain't put it bad the Griff T'do somethin' like that." The man pointed out. "But ya get what ya did would ******** ya over yea? Wanna know what my job is in this group?"

"Enforcer?" Tesla hedged, finally turning away from the Gengar to look at the man holding her. By nature, Tesla was not a patient person; at least when it cam to people. Playing the pronoun game, cliff hangers, asking obvious questions - things like this tended to driver her up the wall. If he was going to shoot her, shoot her. Don't talk her to bloody death.
Puffing her temper through a quick sigh, the woman keeps talking. "Look dude, I'll be the first to say I ******** s**t up but...maybe I can help you play this whole mess to your favor? Give me something, I dunno what - anything. Just make sure it has your club's name on it. Let me take it to the Griffs, pretend the pinch went off without a hitch. Follow me, wire me, I don't care. Either way you'll see that I wasn't lyin' about who gave me the intel /and/ get to find out just how far these Gryf's loyalty goes. Win, win right? Shoot me later if you have to but I won't lie - be nice to take a few people to the grave with me."

The title took Jerome visibly off guard, for a moment he pulled his head back and stared at her with a still surprise. Enforcer was not something he was unfamiliar with, but how long had it been now since he called himself that. He hadn't thought about that, but when she said it he supposed it was the closest thing he did have. Not quite... but not untrue?
As she continued talking, giving her a soft warning frown when her attitude started to tick up. "M'job Is T'protect m'team" Jerome corrected "an our cargo. In case a' some punk a** who think they can jus' walk up an stop Team Rocket, I make sure th'don't wanna get tha idea again... er' can't get th'idea again." He added with a light frown. "I ain't worried bout Griffs, Rocket's got their boss shakin' so hard he ain't even willin t'spill a bad word bout us. Ya wanna know why they sent ya t'Team Rocket? S't try and ******** ya up. not us. Ya get that much, yea?"
Kyle's face took on a smugness that achieved new levels of 'punch me in the face' ness as Jerome spoke "They set you up. idiot." he added, seeming pretty pleased about this idea.

"Noooooo, ya think?" Tesla growled the brat's way. "My point is that it was sloppy and careless on their part, not just mine. What if I'd been a cop? What then? You'd have a lot more to worry about the some skinny chick with a vial full of hot peppers." She shook her head. "What do you want? To kill me? Then go for it. Just leave my body in a dignified pose please."
It was a reckless, stupid thing to say but Kyle's dig hit home, at least partially. The Arboks...did they know? Why? No...she knew why. And it hurt, it hurt a lot.

Jerome let out a sigh, any annoyance he had just didn't seem worth it at this point. licking his lips lightly, and eying her for a few seconds "Yeah yeah I get yer point. I ain't sayin' this ain't ganna come T'somethin' with the Griffs, ain't like I don't take any chance I get ******** em over m'self." Letting go of her arm allowing his to cross his over his chest "Yo why ya so chill with us killin' ya?"

Well...at least there's that. So long as her funeral pile burned with Gryf blood she could die happy-ish.
A blink. "Wow that was morbid." Shaking her head, Tesla snorts softly. "Cause I just got ******** sideways without lube." Drawing her knees up, Tesla scrubs her face. "Don't get me wrong, living is great. Been doing it for a while so..you know." She shrugs. "Why? Do I have other options?"

The dark man tilted his head a little, a few dreadlocks falling away from his tattooed and pieced face as her listened to her explanation. She was young, he knew that much from just looking at her. He remembered that he treated death much of the same way in his youth. "Yeah ya sure ******** did." He agreed with her "F'I was ten years younger ya would be bleedin' out too. But I ain't" He said "And no one's ganna kill ya," He confirmed much to the exasperation of Kyle. "Since it sounds like ya get how much ya ******** up, n'go show me where Mike's been chilling out at."

It's an odd feeling, finding your next breath when you expected to taste lead. Somehow the show of mercy put Tesla more on edge. Death was a known, an end. Life was a hallway littered with doors and Tesla couldn't tell which this man was oppening for her.
She'd offer a hand. "Tesla."

Jerome glanced down at the hand, unfolding his arms and reaching out with his own. His grip was strong, she would be able to feel dozens of small scars and tough skin that implied that he used his hands a lot. Though there was a gentle way that he wrapped his fingers around his smaller hand. "Go by, Jerome." He answered.
He met her bright eyes, the contrast of her dark hair being an appreciated ascetic, not too unlike the only bright in his coloring being his own brown iris. Though he could only imagine how much more of an impact his eyes would make if his iris were as bright as hers.
"Aight- We walkin' r driving?" He asked her, not really sure how far Mike was, or where he hung around now a days.
