"It's her way of saying she's switching strategies!" Lex bellowed to Leslie, kicking one of the massive rodents when it had gotten close enough to nibble at his shins.
"Not the most reassuring thing, Princess, but I guess it's better than nothing." He grunted, taking a large, slimy tail to the ribs.

"This is a little extreme..." She admitted, shooing aside another rat but this time choosing to focus on Lex.
"Look, I'm going to Paris for real after this so my spirit is indomitable!" Which would explain why she was humming while she kept rats off the two men.

With Abbi playing defense and Leslie finally managing to get a hit on the mass of disgusting s**t, Lex's face broke out into a small grin. Maybe they could do this; maybe they wouldn't have to write "mission failure due to disgusting rats" on their mission reports.
The griffin was thrumming in his head, raring to be let loose. Lex could only oblige, sidestepping both his partners and flanking the rat king, aiming at the central mass of the abomination - the knot of tails.
He pulled the trigger and a blast of golden light shot out of the barrel, accompanied by what would sound to the Hunters like a high soprano opera note, silenced as it crashed into its target.
Yes, Lex had a singing gun. Shut up Leslie.

Totally convinced of their win, Abbi flashed a smile at both of them before she responded to Leslie.
"We'll do another Paradigm Shift, and you can cover me! I'm very good at attacking scary monsters, you know." Because of course she was, she had totally saved Jack and Lex the last time they'd been on a mission.
While Lex decided to do some fancy footwork that resulted in a very pretty show of bravado, as well as a solid hit on their sewer scummy foe, Abbi chased after him and swiped at any rats that tried to get too close.
"So shiny, so bright!" She cooed at the light show.

And of course, Lex missed a clear shot right after his little light show.
"s**t." He whispered, picking up and smashing a smaller rat that had started to make a snack of his boots against a stained wall. "Just tell me when to defend, Princess."

A curt nod was Abbi's response to Leslie and she backed off Lex in favor of returning to protect her friend. The failed shot from Lex, accompanied by his words, had her mulling ideas. Similarly to how they had defeated the monster with Jack, she figured they would need to switch to a rotating attack and defense maneuver. While she did have bandages and a healing charge, those were only one time uses and at the moment Viveca wasn't charged so it was useless.
The ghost rumbled in Abbi's mind, wordlessly offering suggestions and once again the teen nodded.
"I've got a plan! I think!" Abbi shouted as she used the blade of her scythe to scoop up a rat that looked ready to pounce on Leslie. "Leslie you attack one more time, and then Lex you cover me and I'll attack! Then one of you cover the other while you attack, and I'll patch one of you up." The teen nodded once, proud of herself, but then paused with a small gasp. "Oh! Someone needs to cover me for a few attacks, I've got to charge Vivi! She can heal somebody!"

Her idea seemed good enough to him. Leslie nodded and flung himself at a rat, clobbering one but hitting no others.
"I'm charged up with s**t that should help you focus," he said, nodding at the pair of them. "I'm gonna burn it now."

Lex nodded along with Abbi's plan, standing back to let Leslie build up his charge. A rat came rushing towards the redhead, and Lex fired a round into its grotesquely proportioned skull.

Glad her plan was going over well, Abbi waited with an eager expression for Leslie's charge to occur. When the bolt missed she kept her face set in a grin and gave her friend a thumbs up.
"You'll get it next time! These rats are very distracting." And just because she couldn't help herself, she tilted her head to one side, and as innocently as possible, asked, "Have you done it sideways? Sounds fun!" A quick show of her tongue and a wink indicated she was just teasing, and trying to lighten the mood, but Abbi didn't wait around to see Leslie's response.
She hopped forward, dodging around Lex to slash at the monster, thankful for the pole-arm to keep her distance. A few more hits were needed before she could use Viveca's charge, but that was ok! Despite the grossness of the situation Abbi felt pretty good about all this.
"Ok Leslie, you cover Lex while he attacks and then I'll bandage him!" Abbi was totally going to tie bows on Lex, just like last time.
