Vuka was surprised to find his brother so near to the beast, not because he thought his brother was a scaredy-cat but because he'd been so worried about being eaten before. Then again, maglardilla were mostly food. Why would you be afraid of that?
He threw up his own arms in a mockery of the bug, not trying to scare it but just finding the motion intriguing, and then relaxed as if nothing had happened. When his brother leaped on the bug he rushed forward and began to pull at its legs, inspecting the membranes between the, looking for a tear or hopefully something they could fix right here. They should have brought bandages, just in case!

The maglardilla was not very impressed with the administrations of the small children and obliged by opening its wingcasing, flinging Val off in the process, Shifter dislodged the maglardilla scurried blindly right toward Vallen, who squawked and scurried up a tree..closely followed by his unintentional pursuer. Val stopped at a branch and poked the dilla with a foot, preventing it from crawling over top of him. "Quick Vuka, check the wing case!" He squealed. This healing thing was awfully hard and stressful work. How had dad done this for people when even insects were so hard? Of course Dad's healing was a hobby but not one that Val was likely to take up, nu uh.

"Hey!" It wasn't as if he expected the insect to listen, but his instinctual reaction any time anything potentially hurt one of his siblings was to scold it. Vuka probably did not much help Vallen's case when he ran after the maglardilla in an attempt to stop it. They began to scurry up the tree, and the Shifter paused briefly. If it could still climb trees, why was it running around on the ground? Had it fallen? Once again proud of his brother's bravery toward the bug (disregarding that he had recently been running from it), Vuak was able to reach up and get an eye-level look at the maglardilla.

Vallen watched with fascination as he hung from the tree blocking the insects path, his brother was getting up close and personal with the creature, it seemed to Val at least that he had some magical way of communication but that could just be wishful thinking. "Hmm," he poked the maglardilla gently with a foot and it waved a leg at him in warning. "Well we three are good and stuck now." Val, having no where else to go got a bit closer and tried to get a good look at the creature. "Oh! Vuka I see a thorn under the wing case, just there," He pointed with a delicate shifter toe. :I can't reach it from here," nor could he move or their patient would scurry right up the tree.

Vuka spotted it about the same time his brother did. The maglardilla still seemed intent on being intimidating even if two rather larger creatures were shoving and poking at it.
Really, Vukasin was a gentle child. There were times that called for a little force, however. This was one of them. If he dallied, the bug might scurry away or hurt his brother and they wouldn't have helped anyone at all. So he grabbed the wing case, pulled it back a bit, and grabbed for the thorn with his free hand. He plucked it from the soft flesh between two fingers and looked it over. Huh. That must have hurt.
"I got it," he said after a moment.

"Yay!" Vuka scurried to the side so the maglardilla could go past before he offered a hand for a high five. "Good teamwork, remind me to ask you next time I get a thorn in my foot." Vallen giggled. Ah it was wondrous having a brother like Vuka. He dropped to the ground with a thump, rolling to absorb the impact and getting covered in leaves. Exuberant about their success he scurried around under the thick leaf litter looking a bit like a carpet mole. It was so much fun. He popped his head out. "I hope the thorn was all that was wrong with it, I bet flying hurt way to much."

He watched the maglardilla skitter away, and then Vukasin's attention was wholly on his brother. He didn't seem hurt in the drop, and the boy couldn't help but smile slightly at his brother's skittering.
"I think so. It ran off pretty fast." Of curse maglardilla didn't fly, they glided, but there was no reason to break that illusion. People didn't like being corrected, not even when you were their same age. He'd pull the thorns from his siblings' feet any time, though. He wouldn't enjoy it, no, but who would? Certainly not the victim. "I'm glad we could help him."
In fact the Shifter felt a little warm and found himself smiling.

Val grinned back, "He did, poor bug, I'm so glad I have hands." He paused for a bit. "Well I'm all sweaty, want to go take a dunk in the stream?" The water would be wonderfully cool and Val liked the water, much like his father, but they were not old enough to find their fathers lake so he would settle for the shallow stream where he could at least dunk his head and then lay in a back eddie. Sometimes little fishies would nibble your toes, it always made him giggle madly. His feet were quite ticklish. He liked watching the colorful fish float closer and closer before gliding close to the toes and nibbling, charging away at the slightest twitch and well Val was prone more to flailing when nibbled.

Vuka tossed the broken thrown aside and brushed his hands off on his legs before considering the option. Well, on one hand they had gone completely missing from home, but on the other nobody was really going to notice, were they? Besides, he and Vallen would watch each other and make sure they were both safe. Finally he nodded and took a few steps in the direction of the stream.
"How do you think a maglardilla got a thorn in its wings, huh?" Had it flown into them? Ouch. Vuka had never seen one crawl like that before.

"I only get thorns when I blunder through them, I bet he flre into a pricklebush the wrong way," he slithere into the stteam with a heartfelt sigh. It was hard work being responsible and all ... well mostly responsible, they had sort of wandered off, but they would go back after all. They had been guarding the denizens of the forest. A noble cause to be sure, in times like these the opportunitty to accomplish something wtihout parental guidance didn't come around all that often. Val splashed a bit, talking care not to hit Vuka with the spray, and enjoyed the cool feeling of the water washing over him. He patted the water, " The water is good if you feel like a swim?" It occured to him that he could splash but he felt very respectful right now of his nimble fingered brother who could pluck a thorn out of an irritable maglardilla while halfway up a tree.

It wasn't cold? Vuka considered his options and then stepped into the stream. The cool water ran over his toes and he smiled. Nah, it wasn't cold. It was nice. At his brother's urgings, Vukasin joined him in the water and sighed happily. He was grateful for the lack of splashing although he'd never have guessed the reason. They really should be starting to head home soon, but a little swim wouldn't hurt anyone, would it? He'd bet nobody even knew they were gone yet. The youngling closed his eyes and let the water wash over him. Today had been a productive day, hadn't it?
Duke Edward Drake I did Vuka's other prompt, so we don't have to make this one last forever! 8P
