"No." He said, like it should be obvious that crystals did not normally grow on trees. Jahuar was just a different kind of place.
Then again, if she hadn't seen the other trees, she wouldn't know what they looked like. He guessed maybe it was strange to her that other trees didn't have crystals, since she wasn't used to him, just like how he'd thought it kind of strange when he'd seen his first Jahuar tree... Or something. Thinking like this made his head go in loops, and it hurt.
"Uh." Ruelash frowned, about as close as he could get to sympathy. Yeah, she really couldn't carry him. She looked pretty wimpy, but that couldn't be right. Sure, he'd saved her life, but she was an alkidike. They were strong. Everyone had off days, but surely she was stronger than she was letting on. Or than she looked.
The canopy sounded like a good idea, though. "Yah. I can do it." he lied. No, he couldn't. He was too injured to manage a climb, both in arm and in blood. But if she honestly couldn't do it, Ruelash was no one's burden and he'd at least give it a try. How hard could it really be? "Sure." he said, levering himself onto his feet with a belying wince.
