Joy could stand to listen to a more experienced and learned hunter. She'd done the same when learning to ride her bike and performing stunts. But there was only so much that words and theories could offer. In the end, it would have to be through her own actions that the moon trainee would grow.
"I'll keep the dummies in mind," Joy promised, taking a downward swing at the shorter woman. "But I'll still feel like one myself if I keep failing to hit 'em."

"Being positive is important, Joy~" Shu stopped the shove, pushing the haft of the hammer against the edge of the shove. "If even you doubt yourself, nothing's gonna happen. Everyone fails, the point is is there any improvement after each failure." She swung it from a low angle. "I used to hit myself because I am not used to holding weapon and a hammer was too much for me." She detached the sphere as she talked. "It was too hard for me to swing it towards a target, the rebound and the tugging force from the wire all needed to be taken account of." The petite hunter smiled, feeling her shield was thinner. Another bark of laughter, good-natured and genuinely amused. "Lax-re, we Filipinos are known for our optimism," there was pride in her words, even if her succeeding strike showed fatigue taking its toll on her. Joy was still full of energy even if her FEAR shield was rapidly depleting. "Also for our hospitality, balut, and Manny Pacquiao!"

"Anyway, optimism would help you a lot during your time here, try to maintain it no matter what." The petite girl made use of the reflective action force to stay back. "I'd like to know what those phrases mean, if you don't mind?" She was always curious of things she didn't know, that was part of the reason she was in the Death division. Joy paused in her attacks, trying to think of the best translation. "Lax-re is just relax. Only backwards," she sounded like it was the most obvious thing in the world but failed to realize the whole backwards-speak had probably only been a thing in her generation. "Balut is a type of food, you seriously have never heard of it? It's fertilized duck egg. It got featured in shows like Fear Factor and Amazing Race. And if you don't know who Manny Pacquaio I feel sorry for you."
Joy's FEAR shield as on its last leg but she gave no indication of it, other than her dismal aim which had been a constant throughout the spar. Pain really didn't bother her and she was proving it.

Among all the things Joy talked, the Balut was the only one that made she stumbled and missed. "WhhaaaAAAAAAaaat?! I mean - I know that but it is.....it is...so cruel." She didn't want to offend the girl's culture but it wasn't really acceptable for Shu to hear someone talking it so lightly, the girl loved animals. Sighing, "We've the fertilized chicken eggs as food in China, but not normal," added by Shu, "Do you - do you eat that as normal meal?" The side glance was short and flickering. Joy laughed again, cheerful and warm despite the exhaustion and pain of the spar. The claim of cruelty was shrugged off more than anything, Joy liked animals too but she really liked to eat meat. "Nah, balut is more of a snack. You a vegetarian? 'Cuz we got some great veggie-only dishes back home, too! Like vegetable kare-kare! Only if you're allergic to peanuts you might wanna skip that. And laing," she licked her lips at the thought.
She dismissed her weapon, not because she was giving up, but because "All this exercise and talk of food's making me hungry! What say we go to the Mess Hall and see if we can make hingi -err, ask for something to eat?"Meegane We can end the RP here smile
