"What the hell?" Faust asked aloud, mostly to his companion senshi. "How come she gets to keep the damn bottle?" Faust didn't think much on their origin, nor why they might be lying in the street - he cared that they were shiny, and not in his possession. Faust glowered at the one pristine bottle before he huffed smartly. He might've lost the bottle, but he did gain a communicator.

Faust fastened the clip to his ear while flower petals and vines exploded behind him. It felt like it fit perfectly. "So you're sayin' that, I can call Thraen and tell 'im to get me some lunch without havin' to leave the bed? Or I can call him while he's out on patrol and remind him to bring home some tuna? Sweet! Been wanting to do that for ages." The Mauvian nodded sagely. "And it does everything Thraen's does without havin' to do with the pushin' buttons. They pinch my toe fur, you know? Damn flip phones. Can't even get 'em open without thumbs. Waste o' time." He cast a glance over furred shoulder to see if their accompanying senshi finished his twirls and stood ready for action.

Luckily, Faust missed the part where the vines started feeling him up.

Faust trotted toward Thraen on cue, and ricochet jumped from trash can to shoulder without incident. He settled into a crouch on the senshi's shoulder, and playfully swatted at the false butterfly decoration in his hair. "Awright, we ready to roll. Think we should keep to the warehouse roads and unloadin' docks? Seems like a damn nice place to keep some senshi bottled up. But, I mean, if she's wanderin' around town she could be anywhere. I'll look to the right if Ash hops up and takes the left, and you can... You know, do your thing. Sound good? I been workin' on my planning lately."

Ash caught the jealous tone in Faust's voice and scrambled to flop on top of the contested bottle before he could even think of making a move on it. Swallowed by soft tummy fur, the silver cat whisked it away to her subspace pocket where it would be safe from sticky paws. Stretched out like that on her stomach, Ash gave a lazy yawn and began to wash her face as though nothing untoward had happened.

At least, until Faust began to talk about the communicator. The mauvian gave her companion a long, narrow eyed look as he talked about abusing the technology to get food and essentially boss his senshi about. And the part about difficulty working the phone with his paws... Really, it had been as much a hassle for her to do it, but she'd done it, hadn't she? She'd even built the new senshi phones before she'd gained the ability to have fingers when she wished for them. She wasn't sure he had much room to complain about it any of it, but she considered herself too much of a lady to argue with him.

When Thraen called for them, Ash bounced to her paws eagerly, but her pace towards him was far more sedate than Faust's scramble and series of jumps. Just because she felt the need, the silver guardian rubbed the flat of her side against Thraen's ankles before she sat back and reached up with both dainty paws to pat at his knee in clear request. She was a lady, she was not going to jump around to get up onto a shoulder... at least not with Faust around to see it. Thraen could be a gentleman and pick her up.

"We need to get inside of the buildings, but we'll have to be careful to keep our escape routes clear in case we run into any nasty surprises inside. Two Mauvians and a senshi do not make for a formidable force against a sizable collection of Chaos agents."

'Do my thing,' whatever that is. Likely involving glittering flowers and vines grabbing everyone's tarse, or getting in some fluffbutt's way. Thraen's eyes were sparkled with laughter, but he offered neither rebuttal nor corrections. Each having a direction was a good clarification, and for Faust, an improvement at having a plan of even that much before guns blazing. It was a win.

The eternal senshi crouched with practiced grace to gather up the second Mauvian into his arms without complaint of burdens. It wasn't a burden at all. However grim the occasion on the whole, there was a small portion in the back of his mind that was well contented to have TWO cats to carry about. Faust's greater weight was pleasant to his shoulders, and the extra fluff tickled at his jaw and ear, while Ash's smooth silk and smaller heft were satisfying to right hand, forearm and cradled against his chest. Thraen started smoothly into a run-and-jump to win them unboarded windows and easier access. "There's less bars and security at the windows on the upper floors. Some well placed knocks will loosen fastening, and that should be able to gain you both entry to most. Where it doesn't, a boot breaks glass without damage and I can slide you in to listen, smell and look about before carrying to the next. "

He stopped at a likely window on a 5th floor, perched with cautious balance on a narrow brick ledge, and gave the frame pounds with left fist to jostle it at the points of a compass with senshi-strength. Some paint and rust chips rustled down. Another quick minute with his nails, and rattling the lower portion freed the latch to open the lower 6 lights out to pa-chunk onto his boot-tops. It looked industry-dirty, but at least there was a perimeter walkway that caught shafts of citylight only a man's height down from the window. Some sort of observation walkway that overlooked the central, lower floor where machinery may or may not still decay in disuse- it was too dark to tell from outside without cat's eyes.

Faust rocked slightly with the stoop. "Hey, why you gotta pick her up? We gonna run into some youma and she gonna be lunch cuz she can't use her damn legs quick enough to get outta the way. Or they break on use or somethin'." Faust grumbled. The last thing he needed was some helpless Mauvian in the midst of a fight. He sincerely hoped he wouldn't need to dive into the face of danger to scruff the cat and drag her to safety. No, that could be Thraen's job if he wanted her to tag along. The technology was a nice boon, but he hoped it didn't come at a price in battle.

When they parked near the windows, Faust tested his girth between bars. The whiskers brushed both bars framing the window, so he backed off to let Thraen take apart the building for them. Since the window frame was now gone and out of the way, Faust made the leap to the catwalk on the inside of the building. It was a long drop, but he landed it successfully. He started around its edge, shaking his paws as he went to ease out some of the pain of landing. He spotted little until his pupils widened to accommodate the darkness. His gaze cast multiple sweeps along the floor, from great machinery to tiny stations.

"So far I ain't seein' nothin'," he called back to his senshi. There looked to be nothing down there and no way to climb down, even for a cat. Some door sat opposite him, but that was the only indication of how to get down-

except for the awfully convenient-looking crane poised just over the walk.

"Yo, you want me to get further in? If not, I think we can move on. Not like I'm hearin' any cries for help in here or somethin'. Sounds more like there ain't been nothin' here in a long time." And probably won't be for some time yet.

The silver guardian looked entirely too smug as she was picked up to cradle against Thraen's chest. He was such a good boy... always obliging, always thoughtful and intelligent.

"My legs are not going to break." Ash said primly, her tail curling over Thraen's arm to twitch back and forth. Her forepaws hung down and out around his hand, but she chose to ignore how undignified she probably looked. It clearly irritated Faust and she was enjoying it. "I promise, if we run into trouble, I will be the one farthest away from it."

No way she was getting anywhere near fighting anything if she could help it. She had two big, strong males with her, if she had to then there was something very wrong with this set up. When they reached the upper window and the senshi of gardens set to, Ash sidled off to the side to investigate the ledge and brick encasing the glass. A careful rub of her cheek was given to mark their entry way, accompanied by a grimace for how dirty it all was. Ugh....

Following Faust inside, Ash landed with less thumping about and she took the opportunity to wander the opposite direction from him, her eyes darting here and there as she went. It certainly looked like no one had been here in a while, but what did that really say, with a faction that could disappear and reappear somewhere else?

"We need to at least circle the ground floor once... She's a single girl. She could be stuffed in a broom closet with a cat and we could walk right over her without knowing." She said as she moved to the edge of the walkway and crouched, extending her head over the edge to judge the distance to the floor. Too far, sadly. Even if they couldn't feel her... it was going to be hard to hide some sign of someone having been here recently, and the smell of someone in captivity, or even just another cat around. Ash was confident if there was anything here, they would find it.

Turning, she bounded back as she had come and passed Faust up, going for the door with a smooth leap to latch onto the handle. Back legs braced against the door, she twisted until the latch disengaged, holding it tightly open.

"Make yourself useful, Big Boy, and pull this door open!" She grunted, struggling to hold it.

Thraen waited and listened for a few moments to make certain that auras weren't going to flare into life around the two cats in a sudden panic of infiltration. At Faust's complaints, he left the window for the roof and scanning around for extra entrances or auxiliary spaces where someone could be stowed. It didn't take long to ascertain that there wasn't anything extent, nor to find the door the two had located. Rather than wait for Faust to jimmy it open, Thraen pulled from the outside to swing the hanging silver Mauvian on the other side of the handle out to a external catwalk where the senshi stood to reclaim the two to move on.

And on. Another building, window opened and seached to be declared empty. A third, larger, found like the first two. Thraen didn't emote disappointment or show any inclination but to finish out all that they'd set out to- all the buildings in the chosen perimeter district. Hind-thoughts only wandered, considering needs of food and water for the two Mauvians after the search was done. Done? Do I already assume it will be fruitless? Yes. It is a likelihood, with no information specifically pointing to this district or any other. Blind shots in the dark. I wish we knew more.

"Ain't nothin' anywhere."

The fourth, fifth, and successive buildings afterward yielded just as much nothing. Faust had squeezed himself into ventilation shafts, padded about on catwalks, and squirted through pulley systems to no avail. With the sheer volume of space covered, the Mauvians and scout found absolutely nothing. At one point nearing the latter part of their search, Faust felt a Dark Mirror signature bloom for a breath but they immediately navigated away from Thraen's signature. Overall, that was the height of the evening -

that and, Ash might argue, when Faust got his back half stuck when trying to wiggle through an air duct exit. No amount of fluff greased up that chamber well enough for him to squeeze out and it took Thraen's help to free him.

The grey fingers of early dawn spread slowly over the horizon, and light started to wake the buildings. More and more lights cropped up on the residential buildings. The number of citizens chancing the streets began to increase. They'd been at it for hours and found nothing more than emptiness; Faust was discouraged.

Had they lost this Amphitrite forever?

"There ain't any sign of her. She could be anywhere by now. Your senshi might be gone for good, Ash."

Each place they looked was a failure and a dead end, one piling atop another until the guardian's shoulders sagged and her ears angled back in distress. She felt drained by the time they finished the last one, despite even the momentary amusement of the larger cat actually getting himself stuck in an air duct. You'd never see her trying to worm her way into a space too small for her already slender body!

Faust's summation of the night was despressing, but true, and Ash sat down to wash her face as she struggled to revive her flagging spirit. Another fruitless search. Another day passed with no word. It was frustrating and disheartening. It was hard to think of anything else lately.

"I think we can call it here for now." She said finally as she straightened up and faced her two men with a solemn expression. "Thank you so very much for coming out with me tonight. I'll let you get home to your beds. If I hear anything, I'll let you know and I expect the same in return, if you don't mind. I'm becoming used to the idea that there might be nothing good at the end of this search, but I've put so much into it, I can't just stop now. For good or bad, I have to see it to the end."

The silver cat wove her way between Thraen's ankles in farewell, taking a little comfort in his steady presence. Here was one of her own she hadn't lost yet... even if her ownership was contested by the great black cat he kept company with.

"Safe trip home!" She called as she trotted towards HQ and her own 'home'. Tomorrow was a new day and a new set of chances to find what she was looking for.
