Jana grunted. “Nnh. Too bad.” He tilted his head, multi-hued gaze flicking to study his bedmate before a teasing grin stretched into place. “And you?” he countered. “I could be persuaded to tutor a first timer. Or we could talk about girls,” he conceded, shutting his eyes. “My options are flexible. Just don't wanna waste my entire stay.”

Janatheil blinked and shot the other a furtive glance. He’d expected an outright ‘no.’ The vacillating, shifting and grumbling that he received instead told him quite the opposite story, and after a moment of assessment, he laughed aloud. “Why?” he repeated. “Aw, c’mon, I don’t know. Maybe because I’m just that dashingly charming and you’re ever so curious and pouty and could use a little color in your life, tch…” He draped his fingers over the edge of the mattress, studying the other another minute before shooting him a smug, teasing look. “I’d be gentle.”

“Mm. I w—ack!” Janatheil started, wings beating out and drawing him full up off the bed as he fled the unwelcome approaching ice beneath him. “******** brat,” he snapped. “I was kidding.”

He scowled, a shiver climbing up his skin as his bare feet came to land on the floorboards, and he rubbed over his arms to calm the prickling hairs there. Wings still puffed with irritation and outstretched, he dipped to snatch up a loose pair of undershorts and dragged them on.

“Well, magnificent,” he griped aloud. “Thanks to that brilliant move—” After lacing the undershorts shut, he started stiffly over, approaching Asi’wi’s bed, “—I hope you really do like company.”

Without giving the other a chance to protest, he pushed, ushering the other’s smaller body over to make room before dropping himself onto the boy’s bed.

“Goodnight.”

“Like ******** I will,” Jana grunted. “You don’t wanna share, you can sleep on the floor or you can sleep on ice. You messed up my bed. I’m tired, I’m sore, I’m cold, and I came a long a** way to get to your stupid continent. I’m not sleeping on wood like a peasant.” He shut his eyes, dragging one of the other boy’s pillows in beneath his chin and propping a wing between himself and the dovaa as a makeshift wall. “Do what you like elsewise.”

Janatheil tensed, wing jerking at the pluck and then shoving like an overly large arm, effectively rolling his ‘companion’ off of the bed. With the space to himself, he turned, tucking under the covers and giving his back again to the dovaa, wings folding back in and body curling a fraction, away from his company. Half of the mattress remained empty.

“S’none of yours,” he mumbled beneath his breath. “Just go to sleep.” He shut his eyes, burying mental images of blood and bent limbs, and prayed the smaller boy would take a hint.

Jana kept his eyes shut, listening as the other picked himself back up but not moving. He ignored the commentary, waited, and only when it seemed set that the other would leave it as was did he relax a fraction, grunting and settling into the sheets. In the morning, the other bed could be dealt with, but for now, this would have to do. He fell to sleep with reasonably little issue, and if in the morning he was stretched out more languidly, one feathery wing layered over his unwitting bed companion, well, that wasn’t precisely his fault, now was it?
