Olea was rather sure footed as she made her way down the bank. "I-I agree, w-we should g-g-get back well before cerfew." She remmebered how that poor faun was dragged off, and thought sadly for Princess Celestia. She hoped that things were going to be well in the end.
Her mind distracted, she wasn't paying as much attention to where she stepped, and as she lifted a hoof to move forward the ground beneath her fell away. With a yelp, she fell backwards, hit something soft and solid, and then felt that fall away as well as she tumbled into the water below.
The water was freezing! With a gasp, she found her feet beneath her, and stood up, soaked to the bone. She looked to the banks and was relieved to see the basket had landed safe and dry, though some of it's contents were spilt out. She sighed and moved a massive wet curtain of hair from her eyes. But.... wait, where was the Prince?
"Oh no....." Slowly, almost as if time was frozen, her eyes moved from the bank to the water. She hadn't.... had she? A sense of dread filled her stomach

Nodding, Chev was rather distracted of mind himself now, recounting her tales and still wondering if it had been right to ask her. Right to drudge up such memories that caused her a bit of pain along with happiness. It somehow didn't feel like such a small price to pay.
When he looked back to her it was already too late. Events were in motion and his reflexes not quite quick enough. Her footing had slipped, his arms reached out to catch her only helping to drag him in with. Having not expected so much so soon his wings served only to ensure it was a soft land, not enough umph to gain altitude in such a short amount of time.
Shutting his eyes and catching his breath he felt the cold water envelope him instantly. It took a moment for his hooves to find right way down and dig into the floorbed. Once upon surface he took a breath, brushing his soggy mane from his eyes. How foolish! How clumsy of him! So many things running through his mind it took all he had not to outwardly curse himself.
She could have gotten hurt! "Forgive me! I was not quick enough!" he panted, sloshing forward towards her. "Please tell me you are unharmed Miss Olea!" he asked concerned, taking her hands encase she needed assistance standing as he looked her over.

Tears burned from her eyes down her cheeks as Olea began to cry, seeing him soaked from head to hoof. This... this was all her fault! He could have been hurt, or drowned! How would she have explained things if he'd died?
He took her hands, helping pull her to a steady stand on her hooves, and the sobs over took her. Her face scrunched up as tears waterfalled down her face. "I'm. So. Sorry." She gasped out as she attempted to continue to apologize to him while crying. The rest of her words came out muddled and garbled, completely impossible to understand.

Chev had opened his mouth to speak but stopped, unsure that what he would have said next would have done any good. Any time he tried to be courteous she just seemed to break more and right now.... Right now he could tell she was hurt. Perhaps not physically but emotionally.
For the first time in a while the alicorn allowed himself to laugh. Not at her but at the situation in general. "Perhaps a swim was in order." he smiled, drops of water dripping down his face from his soaked mane. Linking one arm around her back he moved the other behind her knees to pick her up, sloshing his way to the nearest riverbank. He tested the edges with one hoof till he found a patch he was sure was stable and carried her out of the water.
Once far enough away he set her down gently on her hooves in a soft patch of grass. "No harm done Miss Olea, see?" he gestured to himself which was fine. Wet and soaking but otherwise fine. Nothing that couldn't be fixed. "I must insist though that we make our way back. If you'd rather not walk I can carry you."

A completely different sound came to Olea's ears, and she sniffled and rubbed away her tears to see that Chevy was laughing. She blinked, surprised, as she was picked up and then was carried out of the water. She felt a little better, but not by much.... he did look ridiculous with such soaked mane hanging in his face.
Her hooves hit the grass gently, and she wobbled a little before regaining her balance. She took a step back to look over the Alicorn, tears still residual leaking. "You promise *hic* you're not hurt...?"
She nodded as Chev insisted on going back to the tree. She wasn't exactly wanting to be out, soaked wet and mortified of what she'd done. Oh god, what was the Princess going to think when she saw the sopping wet state of her son? Oooooh she was a dead faun. "Right... -hic- I ju-ju-just need my th-things *hic*" She paused for a moment, then her eyes widened. "I-I-I can't *hic* leave yet! I ha-haven't gotten those l-leaves!"

He nodded, not taking his hands away until he was sure she would be steady on her feet. He didn't need to go literally breaking one of his mother's people now. "Promise, Prince's honor." he smiled, crossing one arm across his chest briefly.
However at the mention that she still was missing one thing he had to stop a small frown. He didn't want her getting sick, not out this late and soaking wet. But it also seemed like a silly idea to have to come back tomorrow when what she needed wasn't too far off, as he understood it. "Might as well, we came all this way and had a swim." he said softly, walking over to pick up her basket to carry for her.
"When your home though, please do take care not to catch cold." he advised, concerned. His mother would probably not be too pleased if she got sick, not to mention he'd beat himself up for it. Hurting anyfaun in anyway was never his goal. He wanted to keep them all as safe and sound as he possibly could. Even if that meant taking damage for them.

Olea felt her lips pull into a small smile, unable to not return the friendly one on Chev's face. She pulled her tail to the side, wrung it out, then did the same to her mane after detangling her hair ornaments. She didn't protest as he picked up her basket, and instead lead the way to a plant with purple flowers only yards away.
Her cheeks reddened as he expressed concern over her catching a cold. "I-I promise I w-w-won't." She paused a moment before adding. "P-please do th-the same. I couldn't forgive myself if-if something happened to yo-you." She looked over at him with concern in her eyes. She really wouldn't be able to live with the guilt of knowing she'd done something to cause him ill.
She pulled another arm full of leaves, doing her best to fill the basket so that she wouldn't have to make another trip, then nodded in satisfaction. "L-let's go home."

"I will do the same them." he smiled, taking a moment to wring out his own mane and tail. As they walked to find the last thing she needed, he flexed his wings to help the drying process. Once she had gathered up the last bit, he offered his free arm to her again. "Home indeed."
He insisted on still carrying her basket as he led the pair home. With some luck he hoped it wouldn't take long to return and that they'd make it back before curfew.
Once they had finally gotten back to the tree, he escorted her back to her room with the intent on seeing her get dry and warm, but a thought popped back into his mind. Setting her basket of ingredients down he realized he hadn't quite gotten what it was he even came for. A basket. "Ah Miss Olea.... I hope you aren't too worn out still to fetch a basket?" he blinked, giving her a small smile and a sort of 'oops' expression.

It was comfortable, walking next to Chevalier, though she still felt bad about having pulled him out to protect her only to now have him carrying her things while being sopping wet. It had certainly been a day, and she was so exhausted that all she could think about was going to her room and collapsing.
And once she had gotten to her room, she had the reminder that she wasn't done, not even close. "O-of course! That's what you ca-came here for, after all." Her cheeks felt on fire again. "I.... I actually don't ha-have one made a-at the moment. If-if you'd like, you can make you-yourself at home while I fin-finish one. It shouldn't take more tha-than a couple minutes...."

"Only if its no trouble Miss Olea." Chev said, though he found it hard to bring a smile to his face just at that moment. Not that he really meant any disrespect for her, it was just.....well... her room was kind of cluttered. So much materials laying around every open space besides her bed he was worried about stepping on something or ruining her stocks.
Doing his best NOT to touch anything, the alicorn did a funky sort of tip toe dance around several objects until he found a nice clean spot near her bed to sit down and rest his hooves for those few minutes it took her to finish up a basket. It also allowed him a moment to tidy up his tail and wings after their impromptu bath. As he did so, he watched her work with much interest. Basket weaving wasn't something he'd ever consider doing but he could admire the processes necessary to make something so useful.

Olea easily maneuvered through the mess, finding her way to her work stool and settling in to work on a nearly finished basket. Along side her were her storage baskets, holding her various materials and tools within reach as her eyes honed in on her project. Everything else began to melt away as she became less focused on the world around her.
She vaguely processed as Chev picked his way carefully, and her voice was soft, but mildly flat through her focus. "Don't worry about breaking things, I don't have much sentimental value in anything here. If it's breakable, it's replaceable. Also, feel free to use any cloth to dry off, and I have a brush on the dresser by my bed you may use."
Her eyes shifted back and forth from where she was working to her materials, always watching, and her fingers moved on their own in muscle memory, pulling and twisting where it was needed to keep the hemp tight. She would have this done in a matter of minutes.

Chev shook his head, not wanting to break a single thing even if it was replaceable. "I would feel most at fault if it cost you more swimming trips." he said with somewhat of a playful tone. He hadn't hardly ever used such a tone, at least not in a long long while that it almost felt strange to him. Foreign even. He wasn't quite sure he liked it so it didn't last much longer.
Glancing around to find the brush, he hesitated a moment. He had wanted to reach out and use it, comb down some of his tangles but using someone else's belongings also felt strange. "Thank you for the offer Miss Olea but I can wait till I return home. You are most kind however." he nodded, sitting quietly as he watched her work.
Once again she didn't seem broken, her words not coming in gasps or stutters. He had to wonder if she was like that around all faun or if it was just him or something about him. Even still, he could tell she was a kind and gentle faunie beneath it all. She was a quick worker too as it took her no time at all to finish the basket. "It looks lovely Miss Olea, I am sure mother will be pleased and it will see much use."

Olea felt a laugh bubble out of her at the comment about swimming, but her hands never stopped moving and her eyes never left her work. Within minutes, it was done, and the faunie brushed a stand of mane from her face. "There... M-my apologies f-for the wait."
With a sheepish smile, she offered the basket to Chev. "Th-th-thank you, I h-hope Pr-Princess Cadence sees many good s-s-seasons of use. If i-it break, pl-please allow me to fix i-it."
She helped Chev to the door, stopping to take something off of a shelf, and once they were both in the hallway, she bowed her head deeply to him. "Th-th-thank you f-f-f-for you help. I c-c-could not have done this wi-w-without you." She then held out her hand to him, in it a small crystal shard. "H-h-here, it's from our K-K-kingdom. I'd l-l-like you to keep it."

He nodded in promise about bringing the basket back should it break, taking it from her gratefully. "If that should happen I shall indeed seek you out." he smiled, accepting her help to the door, pausing outside only when she bowed to him.
He was about to insist she not bow but then opened her hand, revealing a small crystal that sparkled just as beautifully as she. He stared at it in awe, words lost for a moment before he forced himself to tear his gaze away. "I could not....such a reminder of home...Miss Olea...." he began but paused. He couldn't be rude, not like this. "If you must... I promise to take great care of it..." he said softly, reaching out to gently take the crystal.
He turned it over in his fingers a few times, holding it up to the light before clutching his hand around it protectively. "Thank you again Miss Olea, you have been so kind today that words can not express." he smiled, giving her a short bow to bid her farewell.
He waited till she was safely back in her room before he left her door, making his way back home, stealing glances at the crystal as he went.
