She chuckled and shook her head; warrior type ehh? Having two older sisters who'd joined the army she could understand it. Guess this noble has a use then, other than looking pretty. "True, true. I've got a sis who tends to over do it on the training... Some fighters do that in an effort to get stronger." She shrugged. Hurting your body was stupid but some people were blinded by the goal! She couldn't keep the grin from widening into a smirk at his words. "Well~" she drawled; "if you want to undress go right ahead! Simba though;" She chuckled again; "would like to have his tack removed, yes." Simba, since the newcomer was so close, leaned over to sniff at the oban's hair before trying to nibble a piece of it.

She seemed to understand what he was getting at, and he could appreciate that. Training was training, and her point at overdoing it was also valid. There was a point where one would punish oneself to get stronger, and often those fighters were ones who did heavy weapons. Nuri was one who seemed more keen to focus more on his own inner self, and was still trying to find out who he was. That was why he kept going to train, not to get stronger, but to figure himself out. He still had yet to figure out exactly what direction he wanted to go, and it was getting very close for him to choose.
It took him a second to catch her meaning as she answered his requested, and when he did he immediately felt his cheeks flush at her bold statement before his hair was lifted from his cheek for her to see. Dark cheeks on display and blood red eyes wide with surprise, he glanced to the side to come face-to-face with the Xaraan he was admiring from afar. The beak was much more striking up close, and he had to resist taking a step back in surprise. Instead, he took a moment to lift his hand and move to hesitantly touch Simba's beak where his hair was before gently prying it from where it was being nibbled.
It was already quite damp.
Sending Sanele a disgruntled look, he let out a long sigh, "Alright, lead the way and I'll help you...remove his tack?"
As he questioned this, he moved to reach out a hand and offer it to pet his cheek, remembering seeing Simba nuzzle Sanele earlier in the same area.

"No stripping? How disappointing!" She snickered as Simba decided that hair was a tasty thing to nibble on. "If he bites just smack his beak. He shouldn't but. just in case." She said as she opened the stall door to let Nuri in. "Thank's for the offer, Simba's a big boy so it always takes me a while to get his tack removed, cleaned, him cleaned and all that. Also, it is dirty work so... your clothes will get messed up." Her red eyes glinted briefly; "And you'll go back home smelling like sweat and animal... Stripping may be best!" She decided he was a fine target to tease: and why not? He wasn't an arrogant noble so some friendly teasing wouldn't be amiss.. of course if he had been her teasing would have been much more cruel! And she wouldn't have let him help with Simba. The stall was a square shape, large enough that the three of them were not squished thankfully. Simba, since Nuri had not squeaked or swatted him, brought his beak down to nudge the boy's hand for a scratch, being creful to not gouge him with the sharp protrusion on the top of his beak. He gave a soft (for him) warble that asked for pets.

Nuri didn't bat away at the Xaraan, he just grinned at the giant creature and scratched a bit under it's beak with a warm fascination. This was the closest he had ever been to a racing bird, and the thing was all calm and collected. To imagine that he had just been running at top neck speeds was unbelievable.
"Don't worry about it...I've considered becoming a rider...so the offer was a bit selfish." Petting the creature was causing him to relax and drop the solider guise he often held, and his smile was still across his face as he imagined the different type of hard work he was bound to be doing today instead of training. Surprisingly, he was fine doing it, and made sure to let Sanele know.
"I guess today I'll just consider this my rider training...today I learn how to properly take care of a Xaraan...sweat, animal, and possible stripping."
As they entered the stall, Nuri examined the area and obliged to more scratching, as well as picking up a brush to begin cleaning off the dirt from the race. He quietly brushed methodically from top to bottom, keeping an eye on his work and glancing back toward Sanele as he went, ready for her to direct him in this new training and assist in any way that he can. It may not be ideal, and if his parents walked in they may not approve, but Nuri would not choose any other way to spend the rest of his day.

She smiled: "As much as I love racing.. a rider is not actually my path. I'm going to be a beast tamer! Riding is just a dream of mine.. and a way to get my name out! The more people know me, the easier it will be to find wealthy people willing to fund creating a ranch of my own. But mostly.. I want to race because I've always loved watching races... always admired the Xaraan and their riders. That and the speed!" Her eyes got a bit distant as she paused in removing Simba's saddle. "It's almost like flying... there are times when it's just perfect. Just you, the animal, and the wind." She focused back on him with a grin. "There's no reason I can't do both! As for training... Simba's one of the better ones. He doesn't step on your feet, swing his tail and knock you into the ground, doesn't bite... So guess this is the easy way to start!" She chuckled at his comeback. "There's always a big party after the races! My whole street always comes out to support our favorite racer... so you can always learn proper stripping there!" She gave him a teasing leer before she finished pulling off the gear. She preferred to clean Simba herself.. but there was no way she'd let a newbie touch the tack! She gave him tips when she could, pointing out the sensitive areas that needed extra care in cleaning to showing him how to get the feathers cleaned without damaging them.

They seemed to make some minor small talk between the directions and the sound of the race, but Nuri stayed focus on cleaning Simba on his other side and keeping an eye on what Sanele was doing. Often he would dart over to where she was, observing over her shoulder to see exactly how she would clean the tack. He had a feeling she wouldn't let him do it on his own, and made sure to ask plenty of questions and get her to show him at least twice when he was close to Simba's toes. When he wasn't cleaning, he often would be brushing or petting the bird, and he found himself enjoying just touching the feathers and amazed at how soft they were.
As time went on, he was quite surprised to find how quiet it got, and when he took a glance outside of the stall, he was surprised it had gotten darker. Sweat seemed to stick to his top and he found himself smelling like hay, animal, and something he wasn't quite sure about. His parents were probably long gone at some party, his mother mildly worried, his sister concerned, his brother and father not giving him a second thought.
Wiping his hands, he turned back to where Sanele stood and made up his mind.
"So...you said something about a commoner party?" He said with a tired grin, brushing back his sweaty bangs that seemed determined to fall back into his eyes.

Sanele found she rather enjoyed the conversation and help while she cleaned. It certainly helped that someone was there to keep Simba occupied and not bored enough to play pranks! Eventually, longer than she thought, they finished. Because she was showing him stuff and giving tips and advice they didn't speed through the cleaning.... Which meant she'd be late to the party! Especially since she had to drop Simba off at Lan's, clean off herself, and then head home... She gave him a grin;"Oh? Gonna go find out how the lower class parties?" She chuckled. "I've heard of the elite style of party! Very fancy but stiff apparently.. Us? We go wild! All the food, drinking, dancing! Loud off key singing... sometimes brawls." She said as she lead Simba out of the stall. "Gonna need a simple wash and change of clothes...." She looked him over. "Hmm.. I think you're close enough we can raid Jaya's, a fellow apprentice, locker for a clean set of clothes... I'm gonna drop Simba off at the ranch and clean up.. you want to join? Then you cna go party with us!"

robot kitten sorry for the massive delay! Nuri pulled away from Simba fully, feeling himself fall back into the soldier mentality as his hands fell away from the creature. He looked at Sanele as he thanked her softly for the lesson and guidance at caring for the familiar, genuinely thankful for the past few hours they had. He had learned a lot on how to deal with the creature, and he felt confident that if he ever decided to become a racer, he could at least hold his own as a carrier as he built his way to the top.
Thankfully, he would never have to be in that role, but the knowledge wouldn't hurt.
"It sounds like another...educational experience..." He responded to her description of the party with a bit of a grimace, it growing as she explained he would need to find a change of clothing, "If I have no other choice...there is no reason for us to linger. My parents have already left to go to their own after party, and I would still need to head home and chance and by then I would be too late to attend...let's go." He sounded defeated and shook his head, but he couldn't hide the small smirk and slight curiosity that seemed to lighten his eyes. This entire day seemed to have just spun out of control.
Nuri was tired, he was worked to the bone. He had been thrown for a loop. But at the end of it all, he had had a lot more fun than he was expecting, and it seemed that the night would only be getting better.

"Ahhh.. you sound so sad to have to go to our party." She grinned teasingly; "Noble boy not sure he can handle the rowdy commoners?" She walked Simba to the edge and looked at Nuri. "Hmm.. you're not too heavy looking and Simba's a large boy.... Think we can ride him back to the farm? I've got to get him back there anyways.... Might as well ride him back? He's been cleaned once so I'll just clean him tomorrow instead of tonight." She chuckled. "All that time spent cleaning him and now he's going to get dirty again...." She looked at the fancy saddle they'd just cleaned and put away and shook her head. No way was that carrying two people! Bare back it was.... "We'll have to ride bare back. It's a bit bumpy but fun! Think you can handle it?" She gave him a challenging smirk, red eyes glinting.

He shook his head at her jest, choosing not to reply to her comment and instead let her lead him and Simba to the edge of the barn. As she offered to let them ride, he suddenly felt a bit remorseful that she would need to clean him again, and lifted a hand to run it through his already messy hair.
"At least it was a worthy lesson, and you a skilled teacher." He softly spoke up, before adding "I'm up for the challenge, and I think we made enough of a connection for a ride..."
He chose not to remind her that he had never ridden a Xaraan before, assuming she had made that connection already based on the smirk that adorned her face. Instead he moved to the side and waited for her instruction, figuring she would make the first move. As an after thought, he sent her a glance with a raised brow, simply showing her he was ready, and waiting, for whatever bare back would require.

Elyessi time skip! Do what you need to fill in the bits! She laughed and hopped onto Simba;s back, offering Nuri a hand up. "You can brace yourself on his leg, Simba's a big boy and won't break." Bareback Xaraan were not the must comfortable thing to ride... not with that huge backbone! But she was not in the mood to walk back. "Oh.. and hold onto me otherwise you'll probably fall off!" She advised with a laugh. Once he was settled she tapped Simba with her heel and clucked her tongue. The ride to the farm was.. bouncy to say the least! Once there, she let Simba loose into his stall, where fresh food was already waiting for him. Then she raided her fellow apprentice's locker for fresh clothing for Nuri to wear and showed him where he could do a quick wash up and change while she went to the women's side to do the same. She trotted out and waited outside for Nuri to show up, re-braiding a few of her looser braids and then tying everything back up with a new handkerchief.

Nuri quickly finished his shower and donned his new tunic, surprised at the feel of the commoner clothing. It was really quite nice, despite the slight restrictive dress and the different fabric. He could tolerate it for one night. As he pulled his fingertips through his hair, he walked outside into the heated night and looked around for Sanele, catching sight of her finishing her own primping and walking over with a silent nod.
"I take it that this party isn't too far off?" He inquired softly, noting that Simba would not be joining them as they traversed. Hopefully he would be able to make his way back and change before he went home, although he wouldn't ask out of respect for the girl and her offering for a shower and a change.

She grinned, "Nope! One of the reason's I work here and can still live at home is cause it's close enough to walk." She stretched as she stood up. "I think you'll like it. I usually, after dropping Simba off, get there before the food's finished cooking so we should be there before its all gone." She strode off through the darkening shadows towards home; "Ma makes the best gumbo and Brish, the granny next door, is one of the better bakers I know. You're in for a treat.. even if it ain't fancy food it's delicious!" After the race and cleaning she really wanted food!

He nodded to her explanation, actually quite famished now that he was thinking on it. He had not eaten since the morning, and cleaning a Xaraan was hard work. No matter what the food was, he would have some and hopefully enjoy it. Considering most Obans did know their way around a meal, he wasn't too worried about the food. Even if was plain bread, he would still gladly eat it.
He was brought out of his thoughts as Sanele began to explain just what they would eat, and despite he wasn't sure exactly what some of the meals were (Brish?), they sounded interesting enough. It seemed she also read his mind, as she teased him yet again about his fancy palette.
"A shower and a meal? It seems as if you commoners know some courtesy." He joked dryly, beginning to hear the sounds of the gathering ahead. It sounded rambunctious enough, and Nuri hoped he wasn't getting in over his head.
