"Tools..tools....well a shovel is a good start!" he said, fluttering toward the tools aisle. He landed and started looking at small shovels. Trowels apparently he thought to himself.
"How about this one?" he asked, picking up a silver trowel with a bright blue handle. It was a similar shade to his own coat. "Although the metal might rust underwater...but plastic would float. What do you think would work best?" He turned toward Holly, eager to get her input.

She looked at the tiny shovel and listened to what he had to say, taking in all his input. He was right. Metal would rust underwater, but plastic would just float! ", Well... What it there was something attached to a harder plastic one so it could stay underwater? That way it wouldn't flat and it wouldn't rust."
He was sure being real thoughtful and caring about her situation. It really did help her a lot! If only more phonies had been this helpful to her as well.

"Oh that's the ticket! Tie a rock to the handle, and the plastic won't float away!" Crooner clapped his hooves together. "Alright, that's one thing down! What's next Holly? Lead the way!"

"It sounds good to me!" she smiled, trying to think of what else she needed. Also, she was still trying to figure out why a complete stranger would help her ", Hmm... perhaps some sort of plant fertilizer? Since I live in a cave, there isn't much dirt for the land plants. Mostly just rocks."

Ah yes, fertilizer! Crooner trotted to the end of the aisle, but didn't see where the fertilizer was. He came back to Holly and said "Hold tight kid. I gotta ask where they keep it!" He left the floating merphony where she was and went to find an employee, who pointed him in the right direction.
The flutter came back to Holly, and waved her over. "This way!"
He waved his hoof over the rows of bags. "Found it!"

As she waited for Crooner to get back, she tried to think of why he would be so nice to her. There many reasons she could come up with, like him pitying her and doing so out of grief, but that sure didn't seem like it. Perhaps she could ask him?
Heading after Crooner, she went up beside him and began her question ", Crooner, why are you helping me again? I just can't seem to grasp why. I thought it could be out of pity and grief for my situation, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Why... why is it?"

As Crooner tested the weight of the fertilizer bags, he cast a grin over his shoulder.
"Nah, it ain't 'bout pity or anything like that. It's cuz..." he paused, thinking of how to word it. "It's cuz it's the right thing to do! You see someone in need, ya help, ya know? If no one helped anyone, well, then everyone would be left alone! And alone ain't for everyone kid."
He wasn't sure if he made any sense, but that was the best he could do. He decided one little filly wouldn't need a 50 lb bag of fertilizer, and settled for a much smaller one to drag along the ground.
"Alright, now are we missing anythin'?"VerityHattress I'm a terrible person and forgot about this rp! *bows head in shame* I'm sorry I've kept Holly from growing!

"I think the word you're looking for is kindness." Crooner said, taking the pile of items to the register. "Doing something and expecting nothing else in return!" He conversed with the shopkeeper a moment, then turned to Holly.
"So she's got someone who can help you carry your stuff wherever you need it to go. I have a little shopping of my own to do before I leave. Good luck with the plants kid. Maybe I'll come see the ones above the water yeah?"

"Kindness..." she whispered to herself, not paying attention to what he was saying to the cashier before he got a hold of her attention again ", Oh! That would be great! Thank you Crooner for helping me. I would still be trying to get that flower pot if it wasn't for you."
So this was what kindness was? Doing something and expecting nothing else in return, those words just kept echoing in her head. Perhaps a little kindness would go a long way in the end for everyone, so she should start being kind to others too! She liked it when Crooner helped her, and she was sure that others would like her to be kind back!
"Crooner... perhaps you could come by my place sometime and I can give you some flowers as a thanks?"

He chuckled lightly. "Not a problem! I do what I can." His eyes brightened. "Wow really!? That'd be swell!" He patted Holly on the head.
"You're a good kid, ya know that? You're gonna be a great grown up someday. And when ya do, come see me sing sometime!"

"Okay Crooner," she replied, a soft smile showing on her lips. He really was a kind phony, and she would love to come see him sing some time. She was sure such a nice phony would have such a nice singing voice as well ", I'll come see you sing sometime in the future. Thank you so much for your helpfulness and kindness. Bye." She lifted her hoof and waved goodbye to him, beyond grateful for him helping her and showing her what Kindness was.
