Ghost

Admittedly, Ghost was a little surprised when Riley's paws touched the vouchers. Whether or not the Espeon noticed, his paws were starting to emit a faint, feverish glow as he enacted his psychic abilities onto the slips of paper. She wasn't entirely sure what he was intending to do with them, but she could only assume that he was as hopeful about receiving his correct voucher as she was- it wasn't like his abilities would destroy them, not by any means.

The Absol simply held them, allowing Riley some time to get a feel for the vouchers with his abilities. She didn't understand much about psychics, other than what moves they used and how to counter them in battle, but she imagined that it was likely an intuitive process. You felt what you had to do, as opposed to thinking it through with each step. From watching Riley, she idly mused that it might be akin to deep breathing. It was a process that took time and energy, but once mastered would be as natural as could be.

Broken from her thoughts by a tug on the voucher, the nervous Absol jumped a little bit, surprised to find Riley declaring his ownership of one of the tags. She wasn't as assured as he was, but she doubted it could do much harm. Realistically, they were both slips of paper and she had to take one of them. Might as well be this one.

She nodded appreciatively. "Thank you, Riley." She held her voucher up in her paws, sitting on her haunches as she gathered it up with the rest of her paperwork.

"In your line of work?" The Absol tilted her head very confused with his manner of speaking. "You are allowed to use your psychic abilities in the guild, aren't yo- Oh... I s-suppose you meant magic, if your hat is any indication. I probably should've guessed that." If an Absol could blush, she did. She was a little embarrassed not to have thought of that before she opened her mouth. This was one of the many reasons that she didn't often speak to other Pokemon.

Glancing up at him, still a little awkward, she dipped her head politely. "I'm sorry- pardon, I just should really be going." The Absol twitched, shuffling her paws. "Well, I mean... Th-the guildmaster was kind enough to allow my extra time for my mission report and paperwork. I shouldn't leave him waiting. Goodbye, R-Riley."

Without a moments notice, the Absol was up and trotting back down the hallway, clearly seeming more alert than she had before. She did not wish to bump into anyone else, not after that disaster. At least the Pokemon was nice.

Riley

Removing his hat, Riley placed the card in it carefully, assuring that it wouldn’t be lost again: nothing that went into his hat could ever be lost, even if he was separated from it—that was one of its magical qualities you could say. He replaced it carefully just as Ghost spoke up, questioning his prior statement, and the Espeon quickly opened his mouth to explain but she reached the conclusion on her own before he could do so. ”Right you are!” he said cheerily, giving a deeply dramatic bow in his companion’s direction. ”My true calling is the art of magic, regardless of the other ways I choose to occupy my time.” He would have gone further, the glimmer of excitement in his eyes revealing his intent to give the Absol a demonstration, but suddenly she spoke up again, excusing herself and hurrying off before he could urge her to reconsider. ”Ah… Goodbye then Ghost.” Riley spoke after her, his words falling on her back as the Dark Type receded into the distance. His face fell and he frowned, tilting his head in confusion and slight concern as she faded from view. Perhaps she was just worried about fulfilling her duties, she did have the appearance of a young and eager recruit about her, but he couldn’t shake the worry that he’d offended her somehow to make her run off like that. Surely that was no way to make a first impression—he’d have to find her and remedy it sometime later.

Turning toward the hall Ghost had vanished down, Riley hesitated once more, paws suddenly reluctant to lead him to the partner that awaited him; the Absol’s question had sparked a doubt in his mind, one that made him wonder if he truly belonged here. He didn’t identify as a Guild member anymore, and certainly not a Team Leader—he was and always would be a magician whose sole wish was to share the joy he could create with the rest of the world. There was something that seemed hollow about saying he worked for the Guild, and he couldn’t help his thoughts from straying to Era; this was what she had meant wasn’t it? A shudder ran through him and he shook his head violently to shake off the dark thoughts. This wasn’t the time for doubts: he’d missed his chance to turn back. There was someone waiting for him now, someone who’d come here with high hopes about joining the Guild. For that Pokemon’s sake, he couldn’t bow out. He raised a paw to adjust his hat and steeled himself for the process that awaited him. Everything would be alright, and if it wasn’t... Well, if it wasn’t, then it was his job to make it that way.

Veilmys

"Bother." The quiet murmur of displeasure escaped the Guildmaster as he recalled the disarray of his office. It has truly been a mistake to hire on interns to assist in keeping the guilds records organized. Their first attempt had it entirely backwards, their most recent attempt had put them in alphabetical order as if that would make keeping tabs on specific teams easier.
Veilmys had sorted the mess himself, discharged the two with as much of an apologetic manner as he could, and then gone on a walk.
Quite a few teams had been disbanded, new arrivals had popped up daily and he found that running the guild was not as easy as he had naively thought prior.
But it was a most satisfying challenge.

The Sylveon smiled, lacing his ribbons together neatly across his chest as he walked along.

Riley

Riley made his way into the Main Hall from the Guild's entrance, humming cheerfully to himself as he entered the Guild's grand center with a jovial jauntiness to his stride. The Espeon had just returned from a performance in town and was in a marvelous mood: his audience members' expressions were always enough to brighten any day. Being new in town, he had the benefit of being relatively unknown to the Pokemon of the area, which made everything ever more delightful, since they didn't know what to expect of him. Now he was making a name for himself here too, and that was always a delightful occurrence regardless of location. The only thing that would have made it better would have been the company of an assistant, but alas Keiran had been busy and the decision had been too spur-of-the-moment to seek out Clive and ask for his help, so he'd had a solo performance. Still though, he couldn't complain, it had gone so smoothly he considered it nothing less than a success.

Eyes lighting on a familiar figure, Riley's smile broadened and he made his way over to the Guildmaster without a moment's hesitation. "Good day to you Guildmaster," the Espeon said, sweeping into a bow with hat in paw. Glancing up at the Sylveon with a grin, he straightened up and replaced his hat securely on his head. "It's been a while. I trust you've been keeping busy?" It was only to be expected that the Guildmaster of all people would be the busiest of them all, and Riley had been doing his fair share of non-Guild related business as well, so he hadn't seen much of the Sylveon recently, even in work-related affairs; running into him here, when he didn't seem to be in a rush to complete any business, was thus an unexpected and pleasant treat.
