"I honestly do think of her as a child - but I should have been more upfront about her age, that I WILL apologize for." Darren said, giving her hand a gentle squeeze before he let her have her space. He wasn't about to crowd her out - but he wasn't going to let her run away either.

"I'm also sorry for making you feel like I don't take your emotions into account. That's not true. That is why I am here instead of out looking for her..." He chewed his lip for a moment.

"I won't lie - I am a bit worried about her safety, but at the same time..."

He looked away himself.

"There were a lot of us there - I am pretty sure she made it out alright, but my priority, will and always has been you.

"Because I love you."

"It's okie. You don't have to apologise. You didn't do anything. It was all... me." And that was as far as Hafwen was willing to go, just falling short of offering an apology for what she did. Although Darren had allowed her some space of her own, the blue-haired girl still felt trapped, being unable to hide her reactions by rolling away or moving lest she risked jarring her back and hurting herself further.

Frowning, she looked down at her own hands. "Like I've said, you should get back out there and make sure she's okie. If she dies or loses a limb tonight..." She took a deep breath and looked up, noticing that he too had averted his gaze from her. "... it'll be my fault and you'll resent me and things will never be the same between us again."

Balling her hands up into fists, she chewed on her lower lip. She wasn't being the matyr here. Nope. Everything including her thoughts and actions were all carried out with her own interests and intents in mind given the self serving individual whom she always was. "I don't want that. I don't want anything to change. It's not like I'm going to kick the bucket if you step out for an hour or two to go check on her. I'm not going anywhere..." But even if that was the case, if Harmonia was killed or maimed as a result of her own selfishness, that was going to weight heavily on her conscience and wasn't something that she could probably live with.

"The problem is, I wouldn't know the first place to look for her - and quite frankly you're in a worse way than she is right now, as far as I am concerned." Darren said, frankly - he was worried but... more worried about Hafwen.

"I will text her, and see if she's alive - then we can relax and... try to figure out where to go from here?" He picked up his phone, watching her for a moment as he went fishing for Harmoina's contact details.

"How do you know for sure? Maybe she's barely alive and all by herself out there right now for all we know..." Hafwen retorted, not at all seeing how she, being powered down and back in her dorm right now, was in any way worse than the Senshi of Harmony whose current whereabouts and status were unknown to both of them. "Okie..." Nodding absentmindedly a few times at Darren's decision to text Harmonia, it suddenly struck her that he would only be able to do so if they knew each other in their civilian form.

Yet another thing that had surfaced as to what had been exchanged between them.

She couldn't help wondering if there was more and how else she was going to have to learn about them eventually. Curling up more on herself, she tugged the sheets over her head to hide from Darren, trying to keep herself from hyperventilating as her growing insecurity drove her to irrationality and triggered the instinctive reaction to push Darren away yet again. "... she knows that you are both Darren and Corinth huh..?" She finally asked but only because she had to know and confirm that to be a fact for herself rather than a gross assumption.

"The night the youma tried to take my head off - remember that huge mess? She found out then..." He said quietly as he drafted a quick query text and sent it off to her. "She's a freshman at Meadowview, and as far as I'm aware beyond putting up with learning the basics from me - hates my guts. We didn't get off to a good start."

Probably his insistence at calling her a child...

"Oh, I quit my band, by the way," he said quietly. "After they tried to get me to prank her - they wanted met to flirt with her and I refused to... So I asked her to play along and just pretend to be floored while we had a really - really dull conversation..."

He lowered his phone once the message was sent and he rubbed the bridge of his nose.

"So... We have more time for date nights... That is if you don't dump me for being a shitty boyfriend first..."

It was getting increasingly difficult to believe that there was nothing going on at all between Corinth and Harmonia or Darren and Chailee all things considered. Hafwen rationalised with herself as she tightened her grip on the sheets. What more was there left to say when even she herself and Darren didn't know that they were Knights until much later?

"Oh..."

That all went out of the window however as soon as Darren decided to come clean with regards to what had transpired between Chailee and himself thus far. She wasn't really expecting that kind of information to be volunteered before she got round to asking for it truth be told. But it certainly worked in rendering the situation in his favour given that it had caught her completely off guard and nipped in the bud any paranoia that might have taken form in her mind had she been given more time to mull over the state of things.

"Her impression of you might have changed for the better since that youma encounter on that night though." She pointed out nonetheless, lowering the blanket a little so that she could peer at him. Maybe she was overreacting a little and things weren't as bad as she thought they were after all.

"I don't recall ever calling you a shitty boyfriend so far." She began, willing herself to take a deep breath and then slowly release it. "If you've crossed the line and made me fully intent on breaking things off with you... I would have thrown you out of my dorm room by now instead of having this... conversation."

"If it has she hasn't made any indication as to such," Darren said softly. "And if she did... well I'm spoken for - so she'll have to deal." He smiled at her weakly.

"Well I am glad that you still love me." Darren said softly. "I don't think I could survive losing you a second time."

He fumbled a bit then, stumbling over his words. "I mean... we're still young and you could do better... but I wouldn't be opposed to giving you all of the rest of my life if you wanted it..."

Suddenly his face flashed hot and bright red and he had to look away.

Whoops.

"Obvious indication you mean." Hafwen promptly pointed out, not at all intending to cut Darren any slack by reminding him of his obliviousness when it came to the other girl. She might have interacted with Harmonia over a much shorter period of time compared to goodness knew how many patrols both Corinth and the Senshi of Harmony have already had together so far prior to the one today, but it was already enough for her to observe the difference in the other girl whenever she addressed Darren.

"You should see the look in her eyes when she talks to you. She's practically glowering and hoping that you'll see her as more than a friend."

On the flip side, she supposed she should take heart in the fact that Darren had just made known his stand that there was no room in his heart for another girl. "That's good to know..." But still, being a female who was naturally inclined to be paranoid about things beyond her control on top of knowing that men were evolutionarily made to be polygamous so long as they came across other suitable females, she couldn't help worrying nonetheless that she would lose him to another girl who would treat him far better than she had so far.

"... wait a minute. What did you mean by that? Is that a p-proposal..?"

After all, only a masochistic idiot would choose to remain with her if another better option came along and practically threw herself at him.

"N-... Yes... I suppose in it own awkward and stilted way... That was what I was trying to say..." Darren said, his face turning another shade of red, practically beet at this point. "I mean... after you finish school and stuff... no... rush or anything."

Unless she wanted to rush...

"I mean - unless you wanted to rush...I mean..."

He was stumbling bad - it was obvious this was completely from the heart and he HAD NOT THOUGHT THIS THROUGH.

"I don't even have a ring I had wanted you to have my mom's old ones... but..." now he was rambling...

Badly.

It was practically Darren's fault that Hafwen too was now stumbling all over her words and thought processes right now after he admitted that he was indeed proposing marriage to her. This was wrong. So very wrong. Who on earth would think of proposing to a girl in her dorm room as she laid on her side on the bed with an injury and without any flowers or ring to boot?

"N-No... no no no no no. There's no need to rush into this. It's not like we've had sex like rash, irresponsible kids and I'm now pregnant with your baby..." She was flustered, her entire face red as well as she too started to ramble and everything little thing she could think of just came out like that without any prior thought given to it. "I mean..." She managed to put a stop to it somehow then. This was important. She couldn't just agree to something that was decided on at the spur of the moment. Darren was obviously not prepared for this. How could she entrust the rest of her life to an idiotic bloke like that?

Taking a deep breath to compose herself, she made a face as she started with the very first of her many many concerns. "... how can you be so sure about wanting this when we've only be together for such a short period of time..?"

"Well to be completely honest, I'm not sure," Darren admitted without any hesitation on the subject at all. "I don't mean I'm not sure about wanting to stay together - don't... take that the wrong way. What I'm not sure about is rushing into it. I want this to be special for you and I kinda feel like I'm bungling it up... Between the fight, your injuries and the fact that I am woefully unprepared."

No ring and no romantic setting? What was he even thinking.

"I don't care that we haven't... had sex." Again - blunt, to the point. "I mean, I'd like to - but when you are ready..." Oh god, she was going to get him to air out all his damn secrets at this rate.

"I just know that - regardless of Harmonia's feelings - be them wanting to date me or otherwise - I want to be with you..." He was starting to fumble again and he knew it.

"You can call me an idiot if you want... or a glutton for punishment or whatever... But I do know that I love you and that I'm willing to stick it out for the long haul. I don't know if our relationship will last - I hope it does... But I am not going to just simply give up on it when it gets a little bumpy you know? s**t happens and we're going to have disagreements and we're going to fight over stuff and sometimes it'll be dumb stuff and sometimes it'll be important stuff. I think this current argument we've had falls in between the two."

He turned his attention back to her though, his face had cooled somewhat but he was still quite red in the face. His ears more so than anywhere else.

"But... I do know that I would do this all again in a heartbeat if I had to... so that has to mean something right?"

If Hafwen wasn't incapacitated because of her back injury and laying on her bed right now, she would have turned around and walked the moment she heard Darren admit to being unsure about, presumably, things between them. It was indeed a fortunate thing for the both of them that she couldn't do that or shut her ears so she was pretty much stuck with having to hear him out from the beginning to the end.

And boy was it blunt, tactless yet at the same time honest and left no room for any doubt on her part. That was probably for the best when it came to dealing with her at this point really. Looking him over with a perplexed expression on her face, she was silent initially, unable to come up with some form of retort, reprimand and insult for perhaps the very first time since they met. She remained like this for about a minute or so, her voice soft when she finally spoke.

"... I don't know what I've ever done in this lifetime to deserve you and your affections."

Tearing her gaze away from him, she lifted an arm to rub the back of her hand against her eyes, trying to stem the tears that were falling freely now. "You... Darren Waughner... Corinth of Neptune... are a big masochistic idiot with a capital M for doing this. For choosing to stick with me even when someone nicer, prettier, gentler and doesn't treat you like a little s**t comes along and throws herself at you..."

She had to stop for a moment to breathe, a wince on her face at the pain that shot through her back from the quivering of her entire body. "You... can stay. But only because I'm allowing you to. If you're looking forward to sex and marriage and kids, you're going to have to do better and up your game..." She wasn't exactly saying yes to all that. But she wasn't exactly saying no at this point either.

All was not lost between them after all.

Darren sighed for a moment, before reaching out and gently brushing her hair with his fingers. Her words - as barbed and sharp as they were - were something he was getting used to. He could kind of understand that affection was not... Hafwen's strongest suit.

He was okay with that.

Fundamentally they were going at this in a kind of strange way anyway. If it hadn't been for the fact that Hafwen didn't know he was a knight in the beginning - they could have probably never experienced a break in their relationship.

It was entirely possible that said break had been for the best - but there was no way to tell. And no reason for him to try and replicate it again. He had no desire to give up what happiness he could find in this crazy war he'd been dropped into.

"Well I will do my best to up my game, Hafwen - but you gotta trust me too... You can't just fly off the handle cause I'm talking to a girl or something..." He still felt a bit miffed about her earlier behavior and how LITTLE she actually seemed to trust him.

"Have I given you any reason to doubt that I'm not a douche-bag?"

Being affectionate and emotional were a form of weakness. A long time ago, Hafwen made a promise to herself that she would answer to no one but herself. Never shed a tear, be moved or display affections towards a guy. Not even her father Hywel. And then Darren Waughner came along. His words, actions, honesty, dedication and sincerity threw her entire world upside down, making her break every single rule that she had always lived by.

Faced with something that she had no prior experience in and didn't know how to deal with, she had panicked and defaulted to the harsh words and actions on instinct. Drive away whatever was throwing her off and things would revert to what she knew and was accustomed to. But Darren proved himself to be a tough nut to crack regardless of everything she threw his way, hence why the both of them were still together after everything that had happened.

"No..." She averted her gaze and mumbled, not at all seeing what he was trying to get at here. She trusts him of course. Darren had never ever given her any reason not to. "She's not just any girl on the street. She's a cute and nice Senshi who's crushing hard on you, goes to the same school as you and knows your civilian identity." She listed out, a frown forming on her face when she couldn't help but start to feel insecure at the things Harmonia was and she Dallol was not.

"Oh god, please don't call her cute he's like... the same age as my sister and I couldn't... no - ew." Darren made a face, and actually seemed to be turning a bit green in the gills at the thought. "I could never... no, never - date her."

It was true, the mere thought of it was causing his stomach to roil.

"I'm sorry... that I'm so damn oblivious to this s**t... You'd think I'd of known better living with so many women at home - but I don't know... I just can't see past what I have right here with you..." He said finally - as and apology of sorts for before.

"We won't be going to the same school come the fall - I'll be at DCU then." He stated plainly. "She only knows my civ Idenity because she almost got my a** killed because she froze during a fight..." He muttered, looking away for a moment. "Sorry for not telling you that part of the youma wound - I kind of think she might be dealing with some post traumatic stress..."

But what did he know he wasn't a doctor.

Finally he sighed and turned to look at her again fully. "Look if it bugs you that much I can cut her off - I don't mind... I just want to... do what is right by you."
