Suddenly, the heavy rain that had been forecast to last for days yet to come eased off and then stopped entirely. A beam of sunlight pierced through the sea of clouds, then more and more until the murky grayness dissipated entirely. Bright, warm light swaddled the shore and crept forward over the city, the temperature rapidly climbed, and pools of rainwater began to shrink with unnatural swiftness. Within half an hour, the heat of the early spring afternoon rivaled that of an uncomfortably hot summer day. Petra, watching the ocean with a pair of binoculars, drew in a breath that pulled up her shoulders and turned to speak to the volunteers, "Okay, team, Groudon will be here any minute! Remember, we're not here to fight it, and we don't want to do anything that might make it feel threatened. For now, make sure all your pokemon are either in their pokeballs or are calm and relaxed. Try not to be too loud or tense, and stand by for further instruction. Hopefully we can get through this without a fight breaking out."

[KO - Kyle]

"Humm, quite. I think that- Oh." Oh. The sun had come out quite abruptly and it did not lift KO's spirits in the least. As the temperature rose he could swear he could feel the water starting to evaporate from his skin but that was hardly what was holding his attention, all of that was reserved for squinting into the distance. "It must be getting close." Somebody had to state the obvious, right?

_______________

[Frost]

Frost narrowed his eyes, put on a pair of sunglasses, and tapped out a brief note on his waterproof tablet.

_______________

[Dith]

This was it then!

Caught between excitement and apprehension Dith patted Volga on the shell by one of her canons - an approximation of a shoulder-pat - and turned to watch the horizon.

Leave it to Zuberi to be one of the few to distance himself from the pack. Moto tilted his head up toward his trainer, his paw lifting up to press to his cheek. Zuberi glanced down toward his friend and smiled lightly, reaching to pet at his head lightly, before looking back toward the shore. When the rain cleared, he frowned. That was too sudden. He shifted slightly and pulled Moto from his shoulder to tuck him into his uniform overshirt. Hopefully he could get warm and dry. He needed to be dry if he was going to fight. If he needed to. But they had clear instructions to not engage.

Deciding he could risk moving forward a bit more without being scene, he snatched his Pokedex and inched his way forward. He moved careful, up until the sun was so bright that he had to cover his eyes to see the shore. He frowned some and looked around, before back at the open water. So it seemed that Groudon was in fact coming, and he was in fact close. He smirked some before crouching down to watch from the safety of some bushes, closer than he would get at any other point in time. "Are you ready Moto? This legendary is part fire type. You could learn just from watching it." He murmured. Moto glanced up from inside the coat, before wiggling to get more comfy and watch.

The first thing that Zacharie had felt upon reading the announcement was panic.
Then there was anger....back to panic...then back to anger before finally evening out into a neutral sort of exasperation.
He consulted his pokemon. All of them said no.
He called Andre to give him a vague explanation of his predicament. He also said no.
He sat quietly by himself to go over the pros and cons of attending....He agreed with his older brother and pokemon.

So why in the hell was he here?!
Oh right, he wanted to get promoted.

"Baaaaaaanette." Jabari smacked the back of his head as he hovered just behind his left shoulder. "I know, I know but it will be good experience." Not to mention he may get a chance to try out the prototype for the patches he had been working on. Not that he wanted his teammates to get hurt or anything....okay, maybe just a little laceration so he could try out his patch but nothing fatal! "Banette." The pokemon groused as the two of them peered through the bushes. They'd chosen a spot not too far away from the group. In fact, he was fairly certain that he could hear Kyle from somewhere nearby. Not that that made him feel any better about the situation in general, but whatever.

(KO)
Pulling his eyes away from the sudden appearance of the sun and giving himself a moment to adjust before he squinted his gaze back up to the shoreline.
Sharing a quick glance with Ryan who had to pull his eyes away from the binoculars when the light suddenly flooded in.
Peeling the hood away from his head and shaking his wet hair out, he made no comment to KO's conclusion, nor did he look particularly pleased about the weather change. Anything powerful enough to change the weather like that and so drastically broad was no going to be something you wanted to be close to.
Those KSO people must be insane to be n the beach right now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Zacharie)
Jerome was not deaf to the fact that most of his team, and a number of the Rockets were not looking forward to a mission like this, and after the last few that involved Legendary, he wasn't surprised.
For himself, it may have something to do with the fact that he didn't really have an experience like that, or it was just that he had enough faith in the team to know that they would be okay so long as hey worked together.
Either way, the older Gangster observed the aria around him, the civilians gathered at the barrier watching with awe and trying to catch a glimpse of the distant shore.
Inked eyes picking out the forms of his fellow Rockets within their numbers.
Standing somewhere between the group of gathered civilians and Rockets, and where he knew Zacharie was tucked away, staying close enough to the team so that he could make sure everyone was covered and remaining close enough to his partner.
And of course, Jerome wasn't foolish enough to think that he wouldn't look suspicious if he hung around the barrier looking down to where the Legendary might show up. A lifetime of avoiding the law enforcement taught him enough to keep his distance, and to keep himself inconspicuous, as much as it was possible. Thus as the hoods started to pull off from people's heads as the sun came out, Jerome lifted his head, but opted to leave his on.
"Gar gar gar" A cackle rose from behind Zacharie and Jabari, followed with a rhythm of clacking ******** yea' man! Why would ya wanna miss out on something as fun as this.> Bro, in his glowing bulky glory responded to the smack of the back of Zacharie's head with a smack to the back of Jabari's own head playfully
The sudden lack of the storming weather had been a surprise to everyone, Northern could feel just how unexpected this turn of events had been to the people around, thus drawing a slight gasp from the small Legendary.
For a moment she marveled at the lack of rain around her, and so very suddenly. Holding her hands open as she drifted up higher into the sky, letting the bubble of psychic energy around her fall away.
It was so nice out suddenly~
Along with Petra's words however, the Jirachi's head suddenly snapped around, Amber eyes widening slightly as she hung for a few moments in complete stillness, staring out at sea.
"Groudon's not here to fight." She said after a moment, just hanging in the air in motionless awe.
Rosie looked from the Ocean, to Northern, pulling the hood off of her head.
By now Rosie was used to many of Nothern's habits, it was common for the Jirachi to dip into these states, whenever she was just seeing the world through its emotions, she stopped interacting with the world through any other sense.
The bigger the feeling, the newer the expiration the stiller she fell. and Rosie had not seen Northern so warped up in her psychic gift then she was now, it might have been uncontentious to the smaller legendary, but her eyes were wide, and her breathing was quick and shallow. Whatever Northern was feeling out there, was big, new, and strange.
"Relief, a little bit... growing more excited and less impatient. finally... finally." She gasped for emphasis, translating the best she could what she was feeling.
Deciphering that the trainers weren't going to move away from the front lines. They were going to stay close to the shore and wait for the Legendary to show. Shaking his head, Zuberi stood up straight and moved quietly toward where the Rocket's were primarily gathered. He was careful of how he moved so as not to draw attention to himself, and when he got within ear shot of some of the other grunts. For a moment he wondered if it would have been better to send someone like himself ( unknown to the KSO's ) to stand among them and observe. After all, he walked among civilians for most of his life. He could do it for a short time and not be noticed. And he had a feeling he possibly even knew some of the trainers down there who were waiting.
When he got to where everyone else was, Zuberi shoved his hands into his pockets. Moto moved from inside his jacket and up onto his shoulder. He sniffed at the air, before looking toward the ghost Pokemon not far from where they were. He ducked his head and let out a small whine of a noise, which Zuberi promptly ignored. Moto would have to get used to ghost types in this team. He stood off to the side, slightly away from everyone so he could see and not be seen as eavesdropping too much. He had caught sight of the person that everyone compared him to; Jerome, he thought the name was. But for now he paid him no mind. He had to focus. Focus on what was happening on the shore.
▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅▅
He hadn't meant to be this late. He ran as quickly as he could, his bag bouncing on his hip as he moved. Above him, his faithful Chatot flew toward the shore. He whistled and somewhat catcalled down toward his trainer, doing a tumble in the air before beating his wings harder. "I know, I know! We're so fricken late! Ahhh. Damn it!" Mortdecai wasn't used to being late. But he was frazzled when he had gotten the message over his computer. He had forgot he offered his services to the KSO if they needed him, and with that information, he was running fast and hard. His heart was beating in his chest, his tanktop soaked through from the rain he had ran through. But now, it was getting hot, and he was glad he had worn the tanktop and not a jacket.
Mortdecai skid in a turn, almost slipping before he saw the KSO barriers. He moved over toward them, moving quick. Leto dove down from his position in the sky and landed carefully on his trainers shoulder, wings tucked. After showing a guy watching the barriers his Pokedex and apologizing for being late, he slipped into the crowd and looked around, eyes curious. He didn't know what was going on at this very second within the group, but he was curious. He reached up to pet the front feathers on his companions chest, eying the Pokemon that were already out. "Chatot! Legendary coming. Legendary coming!" Leto stated, wings beating. Mortdecai had to tilt his head so as not to get thwapped by the wings, before he frowns and looks back toward the shore.
While the cries of pokemon typically traveled some distance, the calls of bird pokemon carried quite a ways, and so several heads turned at the arrival of Mortdecai and Leto. One head - a brunet, to be precise, in KSO attire - jogged over to him since Alder and Petra were otherwise occupied. "Hey man," he said when he slowed to a halt near the new arrival, "this isn't the kinda thing you can just run in late to, especially with a noisy pokemon out. You're way lucky Groudon's not here just yet, otherwise I don't know how that would've went - maybe fine, but maybe not, since all we know of Groudon is that it's got a mean temper - so you're good for now," the young man assured him, "but you might not be next time, and you might not be if your pokemon can't stay calm, too. If your Chatot can stay calm then that's totally cool, but if not you'll have to recall him. We can't have anything - anything at all - that might upset Groudon, because it could prooobably level the whole city if it got even a little mad." He paused a moment to let that sink in, then asked, "Alright?"
Citrine heard someone call a familiar name. Rosie. Rosie was here! She sucked in a breath and turned to look until she spotted her friend... Talking to someone. She recognized him, but forgot his name. The man was talking quite earnestly with Rosie and that way cute jirachi, Northern. Citrine tried to get closer without pushing anyone aside, trying not to invade anyone's space, wanting to maybe hear what was going on, if she could hear anything over the rain at all. She stopped when a giant of a man joined Rosie an the other. Dith was here too! She felt a little better. And as the sun came out and quickly warmed things up, she finally managed to say something to the two she knew.
"Rosie. Dith." She tried sounding confidant, even though they were facing a potentially very dangerous situation. She glanced up as Northern floated up and spoke. What was it saying? What was going on?
(Bro)
So caught up in watching the clearing skies, the teen didn't notice his partner's pokemon sneaking up on them until there was the tell-tale cackling of Jerome's most mischievous pokemon until he was startled by clacking teeth. Zacharie jumped before turning his head sharply to peer over his shoulder at the Gengar. "Bro." He hissed, looking back through the bushes to make sure that he didn't draw any attention to himself. "You scared me half to death." He grumbled.
you fight a legendary and tell me if you want to fight another one ever again.> Jabari grumbled, rubbing the back of his head with a sour expression on his face. The Banette screeched. "Jabari, shhhhh!!" Zacharie hissed, flailing a hand back in an attempt to silence the two pokemon.
It wasn't long before Groudon's large, scarlet form came into view far in the distance, but that distance was closing rapidly as the massive legendary pokemon lumbered across the sea, a bed of earth forming and dissipating beneath its feet as it walked. Petra lowered her binoculars and looked to Alder, and Alder in turn looked to Northern, beckoning the much smaller legendary with an encouraging, "Okay, here we go."
Just before Groudon was nearly upon them, the former champion, Jirachi in tow, trudged across the drying sands and partially into the surf. He then raised his arms and waved them slowly to attract the ground-type's attention, speaking over the rush of the tide, "Excuse me, Groudon - please listen! This place is home to a huge number of pokemon and humans, and we're all very confused as to why a pokemon as renowned as you would visit our island. Would you tell us why you're here?"
Groudon's piercing yellow eyes lowered to Alder and swept over the shore as he spoke, looking briefly at everyone who had gathered as if trying to determine the nature of their characters. After a spell of silence, a loud, low grumble erupted from its throat, forming words that only Northern and the other pokemon would understand, ""
Alder's attention fell to Northern in anticipation of her translation.
Mortdecai flinched when the brunette walked up to him. He ducked his head, as if in shame and moved an arm to scratch the back of his head. "Ach... Sorry, sorry. It was farther than I anticipated. I'll make sure to keep Leto quiet. Sorry again." He said quietly, his eyes flickering up toward the Pokemon. He reached and tapped Leto's beak, murmuring for the Chatot to keep his voice down. Leto, in turn, ducked his head similar to his trainer and gave a low, quiet whistle, before saying sorry to the trainer as well.
Everything was quiet for a moment, and then Mortdecai saw it. The creature. The Legendary. Groudon... The African took a half step forward, before going still. He gulped, reaching up to sooth Leto's breast feathers. The Chatot shifted somewhat and dipped his head to nudge Mortdecai's cheek. He shifted somewhat till he could put his beak to Mortdecai's ear. When Groudon spoke, Leto translated into his ear in a whisper, keeping his voice low so as not to alert attention to the pair again. "Chat. Tot, tot." He whispered, before making a noise identical to the Groudon. Mortdecai rolled his eyes some before pushing the beak away from his ear. ""Shhh. No more for now, bud. Let's just watch, yea?"
Completely and utterly enthralled with the idea that a true Legendary was within emotional touching distance from her, Northern almost missed the fact that Alder needed her to follow him as he started closer.
It interested her, that the Legendary’s emotions were not much different from everyone’s else, maybe a little more reserved in a way… different in what she had learned to recognize was age and whatever rugged experiences it had grown to know. It was bolder, prouder, but still- everything she felt from him was just as recognizable.
As Groudon moved closer, Northern drifted away from Rosie, and along after Alder per his request.
Her eyes wide and mouth slightly open as the Legendary drew closer, and just got bigger and bigger.
She had never seen a living creature that big before, she wasn’t sure if she should be amazed, or terrified.
As he spoke, words clear as day for her, she glanced to Alder, who looked back at her waiting expectantly. Shaking herself out of her awed stare at Groundon she complied and translated.
“Groundon says that it’s seeking Arceus.” She repeated, feeling a little awkward.
[Adam - Zuberi]
Late to the party. That seemed to be an ongoing theme. Sighing the grunt tracked his foot steps and approached quietly, relying on the information he received during training. He wasn't meant to be a field agent, but he hadn't really settled anywhere. Besides, this was a Legendary! And that, it seemed, made the others even more weary.
His approach led him to the group of rockets. Striker? He waved to the other man and approached. Manny floated quietly behind him, the ghastly's eyes wavering this way and that.
Letting out a very soft whistle, he whispered to the other grunt, "That's Groundon, huh? Amazing..."
"Arceus? Here?" Alder frowned and rubbed his chin thoughtfully. After a brief pause to consider the possibilities he shook his head, "Arceus isn't in Kodo, though. If anything, I'd think it would be in Sinnoh."
Groudon snorted, and the earthy scent of its breath fell upon the beach like a breeze. "," it rumbled. ""
