He looked mildly surprised.

"You've been here before?" Chance asked curiously, sliding his hands into the pockets of his slacks, the music becoming louder the more that they walked. "When did you come here before? Is this like, a thing you bring people to?"

The last part was said a little more teasingly, mischief in Chance's eyes.

"Mn." Which in this case, was an affirmative sound. "High school." Claude then had to snort softly, amused. She looked over at him, smirking lightly. "Oh, yes. Everyone." Because that was what she was, obviously. A damn social butterfly.

Yeah, no.

A few turns here and there and the music and sounds of people grew louder. Claude turned one more corner, and a city square was revealed to them. It was incredibly lively, complete with lights and decorations that zig-zagged over the square from building to building, making a luminous net above the square. It was crowded with people who joyously gathered off to the sides, talking and celebrating. There were also copious amounts of food and merchandise vendors, but what Claude had summoned Chance for, was taking place in the middle of the square. Dancing.

She looked over at him, a brow quirked, waiting to see his response.

He gave a snort of amusement. "I suppose that's what high school is like for normal kids," said Chance, casting a sideways glance at Claude, the traces of a smirk on his lips. "But really I know this is totally where you bring all the guys you want to impress."

The festivities were not like the thick crowds in the city that he had gone to with Otto; rather than being almost claustrophobic in terms of people and noise and lights, this was much more casual, much easier to breathe in and therefore much easier to handle. Chance made a noise of interest, then turned to look at Claude again, grinning as he caught her expectant expression.

"Hey, you're the one who brought me here," he said lightly. "You get to ask me to dance, not the other way around."

"High school for rich kids." She corrected, no shame in the fact she had been rather privileged growing up. She really did appreciate being able to go to places like this, and to get away from home, however temporarily it may be. "Oh...you figured me out." Claude deadpanned at him.

His grin was met with a smirk. She stared at him for a moment, thoughtfully, before she unwound her arms and fluidly dipped into a sweeping bow. "Chance." She drawled, extending one of her hands to him. "Would you do me the honor of a dance?"

He knew Claude was privileged because that was just how she'd been raised; and it interested him, because their childhoods had been almost completely opposite in terms of that, and yet still somehow they managed to get along well.

The bow was received with a certain amount of amusement. Chance gave a little one of his own.

"No," he deadpanned, and then grinned, reaching out to take her hand. "And by that I mean yes."

"I'm not paying you just to look pretty." Was Claude's reply to his 'no'. Also, the tables have turned. Who was the stripper gram now.

Her fingers closed around his without hesitation, and she turned to lead them into the crowd of dancers. Claude weaved around them with ease until she found a spot for them, letting go of his hand momentarily to turn and face him. She took his hand once more, while the other came up to rest on his shoulder. She gazed at his face for a few moments.

"...This is incredibly belated and a lapse in planning on my part. Do you know any steps?"

"You're not paying me at all," Chance stage whispered back, rolling his eyes.

But he followed her obediently, glancing around with a lighthearted curiosity at the others on the dance floor. Almost automatically his own hand lifted, resting comfortably at Claude's waist, while he wrapped the fingers of his other hand around hers, looking relatively positive about the whole thing.

"Nope," he said cheerfully. "None at all."

"I'm buying you dinner." She then leaned in so that she could stage whisper as well, her expression as impassive as ever. "So you better put out."

Claude stared at him for a moment, and then gave a small "Mn." So much for getting twirled about the square right off the bat. "Well." She started. "You're going to learn." In the Claude way, with as minimal words as possible, she started to explain and show him some simple steps. At some point she switched roles with him, her hand resting on his waist and having his hand rest on her shoulder, and stepped him through a dance before she ended it by twirling him.

"Got a grasp?"

"You can't make me."

It was said with a sort of childish amusement, Chance smirking at Claude. He shifted his feet a little and tried to mimic the steps she was showing him, though it was clear that he was not nearly as mild-mannered in dancing as he was with everything else. His tall stature made it a little harder for him to look graceful, and though he fumbled through the steps with a good-natured expression, it was clear that dancing was not Chance Bones' forte.

"A grasp of you, yes," said Chance airily, giving her side a playful squeeze. "The dancing, however...well, we'll see about that."

He seemed entirely at ease with Claude leading, sliding his feet to try and match her steps.

Claude didn't judge (too hard) that Chance wasn't even proficient at dancing. Not everyone could be good at everything, obviously. Plus there was something kind of delightful in teaching him. She chuckled softly. "Dancing is seventy-five percent a grasp on the other." Actually, it seemed easier to just be in the lead, so she kept it up, and eventually just started to keep going into steps, not stopping, but kept it at a pace that Chance could easily follow.

"No prom then, hm?"

He was mostly looking down, trying to gauge which direction to move his feet in relation to hers. Chance gave a little laugh, lifting his hand briefly from Claude's shoulder to pat her face in a consoling sort of way.

"Good thing we got that out of the way, then," he said cheekily, and then put his hand back in its proper place, giving a little snort.

"I only went to like three years of elementary school, remember?" said Chance mildly as he swayed ungracefully. "I never got the - pardon the pun - chance - to go to any of the school dances and s**t."

A brow quirked as his hand patted her face, and she tolerated it.

"Ah." Not even crashed anything, huh? "You didn't miss anything. Prom is full of grinding anyways." She continued to step and sway with him, at one point, guiding him into another spin for kicks. The dancers around them moved with ease and at a quicker pace, but Claude felt they'd definitely get to that point before the night was through.

"I guess that's what gets some people off, and occasionally it's fun to be right in the thick of things, but nine out of ten times I much prefer the simpler aspects of social outings," said Chance, twisting around obediently before stumbling back to Claude, gripping her shoulder to keep from knocking them both over.

"I think maybe I'm getting the hang of things. Possibly. Or maybe that's just me being overly positive."

"Agreed."

Claude braced herself, keeping a firm hold on him as he stumbled, and immediately after let out a soft chuckle. "It's both." She smoothly transitioned them back into the swing of things after the stumble, a ghost of a small smile tugging at her lips.

"I think I'm finding more enjoyment in this than if you actually knew how."

He deliberately kicked her ankle with one sneaker-clade foot, not hard enough to hurt or make her stumble, but just enough to make her aware of the fact that she was being very sassy, Claude.

"Not all of us pick things up easily," said Chance dryly. "But I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, at any rate."
