"Only because you're a good luck charm." She drawled, not failing to notice she actually performed like a competent hunter when she was sparring with Dawson. Claude was half expecting him to resume attacking her, but when he braced again for defense, she stayed where she was. Claude fired back at him.

"That's how you keep a man coming back." She deadpanned, and then followed it up with a wink. She let that hang in the air for a moment before tacking on, "He disappeared one day without warning. I knew he wasn't dead. I had to find him."

Dawson barked a laugh at her wink as the bullet broke in Syn's mouth. "Tha' it do, Cap'n, tha' it do." Energy flared in her maw again, and the trainee was once more coated in a fiery light. He was barely standing as is, but he couldn't give Claude less than his best.

"So ya went X-Files on it, huh? How'd they end up findin' ya? Ran across any beasties?" Taking a deep breath through his nose, he braced himself and charged at Claude again.
