Lithian flushed and huffed, nudging Casseth with his elbow. “Ignore him, Ataya…we understand it is likely embarrassing enough to work up the courage to ask a serious question on the subj—”
“I’m not embarrassed.” Ataya folded his arms, frowning and ignoring the heat at the tips of his ears. “I just want to know, that’s all.”
Lithian eyed him, weighing his posture, expression, and tone before glancing to his mate and then back. “Would you…be comfortable speaking with just me? I think a more private setting would be helpful…perhaps Casseth can help your sister with breakfast?” Lithian paired the question with a meaningful look directed at Casseth, and across from them, Ataya shrugged.
Casseth seemed more than willing to take the opportunity and hint, and a moment later was out, closing the door behind him and leaving Lithian and Ataya with the porch to themselves. Lithian eyed his nephew, waiting out the pause and giving Ataya ample opportunity to speak up before voicing his own question.
“Is there something in particular that brought this curiosity up?”
Ataya shrugged.
“It would help me to help you if I knew where you were coming from,” Lithian said.
Silence and an uncertain frown.
Lithian waited, but eventually sighed, notching his head towards the beach. “Come…walk with me a moment?”
Ataya pursed his lips. “Must we wal—?”
“Would you really rather we speak here and risk that your father walk out here inadvertently while I explain to you precisely what you ought to expect when you’re on your back with a man’s fingers between your legs and up your—”
Face burning, Ataya turned sharply on his heel and started towards the edge of the porch. Lithian, privately pleased with himself, followed after. When they were a solid distance down the beach and comfortably out of earshot of anyone in the house, Lithian focussed again on his walking companion, taking his time before breaking the silence.
“Are you interested in men, Ataya?”
