Ilanga glanced up at the dark grey skies, checking both the level of the water-heavy clouds and the whereabouts of her companion, the vulture Idla. It was pointless to call out, what with the sound of the rain muffling all others, and the squelching of many paws as the lionesses gathered in the mud. But she didn't need to use her voice to catch the vulture's attention a no a moment later she saw Idla dip a wingtip in acknowledgment.
Satisfied that her friend was ready and willing, Ilanga padded through the thick, slick mud to her sister's side. "Greetings sister." Rubbing herself along the length of her sister in a robust, affectionate manner, she swiped a lick along Imvula's cheek. "Bad business... What with these rains. But we will find the boy.." She reassured, hoping to ease the worried look in her sibling's eyes.
Turning her head she looked over the assembled lionesses, catching sight of the silver-furred Umama. "Don't stray too far..." She said, looking back at her sibling before with a confident smile she left Imvula's side and turned her attention to Simoshile.
"Where do you want us?" She asked, all business now. As a Cinga she was one of the more well-travailed members of the pride and the extra set of eyes I the Sky could only improve their chances of finding the cub quickly.
The vulture was a darker shadow against the heavy clouds, circling slowly while she waited for the lionesses to organise and set off.

Imvula rumbled in her throat at her sister, rubbing her forehead against Ilanga's. She was like a ray of sunshine in their small family of blood sisters, while Ukungcola seemed, by her perspective, more grounded. Imvula shifted like the changing rain, caught in that void between earth and sky.
As she began to walk, eyes looking around, there was a flash of lightning and a crack of thunder. It tore across the sky with a great boom, and in the distance the dark dust-brown lioness heard the reactionary trumpet of an elephant. There was a herd near by... She looked at Esasile with worry in her eyes. "If he went to investigate the elephants, he'll surely be trampled!"

Having returned the head-rub offered by her sister, a low chuff of reassurance rumbling in her chest, the golden-coated female looked upwards, checking on the location of her feathered companion.
Suddenly the vulture dipped a wing and wheeled, taking off across the sky like a bolt of lightening. Ilanga froze where she stood, eyes tracking Igla as the avian swooped down low, only to rise much more slowly, riding the thermals as she glided back towards the gathering of lions.
Moments later she landed on Ilanga's back, hopping a couple of steps so both lionesses could hear her over the sound off the rain. "Thought I saw something, but was only an abandoned nest. I'll keep trying. But you need to move soon, the clouds are too dark."
With that prediction the vulture lifts off again with great heavy flaps, leaving wet foot prints behind on Ilanga's back. The lioness turned to her sister with a worried look.

Umo waited until all of the lionesses in the search party began to disperse, nodding to a few before she naturally began to pick up her pace. The storm naturally had her feeling uneasy, the thoughts of a flash flood weighing heavy on her mind. She swallowed and glanced back once at her party before her quick walk developed into a run. She knew not to go too far ahead, but she needed to move and running helped her feel calmer.
She kept up the speed until she spotted a fallen log, jumping over it before sliding in the mud slightly to turn. She knew immediately she needed to start thinking these things through. One... if the cub had been there she probably would have terrified him just appearing like that. Two... there could be something besides the cub lurking behind the log.
Unfortunately it was option two that presented itself, much to Umo's chagrin. The snake was none too pleased with her, either. She hissed and backed up several paces, posturing to look threatening rather than nervous. She hated snakes!

Quick Event!
Please do not roll anymore 6-sided dice.

The snake was most certainly not please. Giving Umoya a quick bite and a hiss of it's own, it quickly coiled up, ready to strike again. The bite landed on Umoya's left foreleg, but luckily for her, her backing up caused the two to separate before too much venom had been injected.
Quickly identified as a green mamba, a highly venomous snake, this snake is usually only found in trees in forested or tropical areas. The known symptoms for this are swelling around the bite area, dizziness and nausea, usually accompanied by difficulty breathing and even death if not treated.
What the hell was it doing here?! Unable to leave it be in fear of it finding the cub before the group did, biting another lioness, or even multiplying, the snake must be killed. Of course with Umoya bitten, the group must act to ensure they do not lose another lioness on his mission, while avoiding being bitten themselves.
If your lion is brave enough: Roll 1 4-sided dice. 1 & 4: You don't kill it or leave, but at least it doesn't bite you. 2: You scare the snake off. 3: You kill the snake.
If your lion tends to Umoya: Roll 1 4-sided dice. 1 & 4: You successfully find some herbs that your mother told you might help. But you don't know what to do with them! Maybe you should have listened. 2: You fail to help and only stress Umoya more, helping the venom circulate faster. 3: You successfully find some herbs that your mother told you might help. You mix them into mud and put it on the bite. Lets hope that helps!
Please put the following, in bold, at the top of your post for what your lion is rolling for. My lion is brave! or My lion is helpful!

MY LION IS BRAVE!
When she spied the snake, Imvula acted before she thought - She charged at the scaled creature, lips curled back and a roar in her throat. "VILE LEGLESS BEAST!" Her claws didn't miss their mark, sinking into the snake's flesh. The lioness did what could be referred to as a 'dance' as she avoided its biting teeth, batting hard at the head with a hiss.

My lion is brave!
Having been walking alongside her sister, the paler lioness spotted the snake right after Imvula. Dashing forward she swiped at the air in front of the green slithery shape, roaring her anger loudly even as her sister attacked the thing. Dashing back and forth she was caught between keeping her sister from being bitten like the other lioness, and driving the snake away.
"Careful!" She cried as Imvula got close, eyes wide with fear for her sibling's safety.

The green mamba had struck almost immediately, and Umoya couldn't have done much more than back up like she did. She snarled as the snake's fangs pierced her leg, stumbling back another step. This was bad and she wasn't sure if she'd be able to scare the abominable creature away by herself.
Her body was shaking, finally succumbing to fear. Partial relief flooded her brain when Imvula charged, though Umoya was already starting to feel dizzy.

(Ok, not sure what happened to my roll, whoops.)My lion is helpful! Zotikos had thus far trailed behind the rest of the lionesses, partly because he wished to avoid any accusatory glances should anyone wish to place blame on the weakly male. However he wished to help. If there was one thing he would drag himself away form the safety of the larger part of the pride it was a lost little one, especially with the dangers of a storm threatening them and the cub. Suddenly a commotion ahead caught his attention. It appeared something had happened to one of the lionesses, and as he hurried forward to see the problem he saw the snake, currently being dealt with by others. Unfortunately that was not the whole of the problem, as one of them appeared to have been struck already. Zotikos stood for a moment, mind churning as he tried to think of what to do. He knew so little of first aid, other than maybe the simplest of things. "I have to help.." He spoke, barely above a whisper. Even as he shook a bit he turned to look for something to aid the injured lioness. It was more dire a situation than the ahluke was used to dealing with. He needed something, anything to aid her! He moved unsteadily on the muddy ground, pushing himself trying to remember how to deal with a snake bite, especially one so dangerous. His mother had tried to teach him such things, but it had seemed so useless and boring at the time. Now, with her no longer around, he wished he had payed more attention and not wasted the time. Then he spotted it, or more so stepped on it. The plant, now a bit broken and muddy but still usable, seemed familiar. Zotikos couldn't recall exactly how it was used but he knew it was useful, it had to be. The male quickly snatched it up and rushed back, lying it gently beside Umoya. "I have found an herb to help but I.." He fell silent, glancing uneasily down at the plant. Was it to be ingested? Did it need to be mixed with something, liquid perhaps to dilute it? Or perhaps a poultice needed to be made with it and applied to the bite. The male shifted uneasily, wracking his brain once more trying to recall what information he could. Using the herb the wrong way might be just as bad as not treating the bite at all. "I do not know how to use it." Zotikos finally admitted.

My lion is helpful! The lion growled softly in frustration as Umoya sudden sped off. They couldn't just all go running off! At her sudden snarl, it seemed like it hadn't even been helpful. They should be looking for this cub, not angering snakes. Snakes? The female's head snapped up. Had it been venomous? Had Umoya been bitten? Oh, this entire event was turning into a disaster. Esasile dashed over towards Umo, slipping a little in the mud. "Umoya? Umoya, you were bitten. Sit down, stay calm. It will be alright." The lioness ordered in a stern voice. Truthfully, Esasile didn't know if it would be alright. She spotted a clump of herbs nearby the snake's now-dead body. The lioness grabbed clump with her mouth, but she wasn't quite sure what to do with them. She knew they would help the wound, but did Umoya need to eat them or rub it in the wound? When she turned around, Zotikos had found some of the same herb. "I know not either, Zotikos." Esasile said with a frustrated huff. "Surely someone remembers how to apply this herb?" The female called out to the rest of the group.

The snake has been killed by Imvula.
A nearby secretary bird decided the snake looks like a decent meal. Waiting patiently, it quickly devoured the now deceased snake at the first chance it got.
[OOC Information]
Congratulations! The snake has been killed. The secretary bird decides to join the group (at a distance) and has been added to the prize pool.
Please only roll now if your lion is tending (or trying to) to Umoya's bite.
Once a 3 has been rolled for helping Umoya, please stop rolling. You may roll more than once, but please fill out each post before rolling again.

(OOC: Simosihle to the rescue! Yay! |D)
Well the weather certainly hadn't given them much time to get on their way had it? Huffing softly as the clouds opened up--not to reveal the blue behind them, but rather to dump a river worth of water on them, seemingly unending and violently heavy--Simo found herself immediately drenched, ears folding gently as she set about her way with the group.
Somewhere in the distance elephants were causing a ruckus, perhaps in fear of the flashing stabs of lightning that struck the ground or the crashing boom of thunder. As long as they stayed away form the search party they weren't much of a threat. One could only hope that Ukuthula's cub hadn't wandered into their immediate vicinity., though as one lioness had mentioned the threat of being squished like a bug was a real one. We have to hurry before that---
Cut off by Umoya's alarmed yell at the snake, which was thankfully dispatched by Imvula with great haste. It unfortunately hadn't been quick enough to prevent the lioness from being bitten. Oh gods.
Staring at the remains of the battered, strikingly bright snake as she passed it Simosihle frowned. She had been living in this area long enough to know that it was a Mamba. A tree snake. What it was doing all the way out here, away from anything worth scaling was a question that gnawed at her ear for reasons she couldn't explain. That was reckless Imvula! But thank you..
Without her bravery there could have been many more injuries, though she had put herself in harm's way. Nodding in approval to the Umzingeli, the Umama didn't express her concern over the origins of the snake, instead turning her attention to the injured. It was difficult to move quickly with all this mud, several times her paws threatened to slide out from under her, but Simo still managed a slow jog. Muscling between Zotikos and Esasile as they hovered over Umoya's bite she was half surprised to see the herbs necessary for treating Umo's wound already collected. This... this is really good you two!
She hadn't overheard the Aluke's admission that he wasn't sure how to use them even as she set about hurrying to paste the leaves over the punctures, using the mud as a glue to hold them in place. This should help with the swelling and pain. How you holding up Umoya?

She wondered if she was dizzy because she'd been bitten by the snake or if she was dizzy simply because she'd witnessed other lionesses being bitten by similar snakes. She couldn't be sure, and she certainly couldn't be sure if she was starting to grow nauseated from poison or because she was fairly certain she was going to die. Once that thought struck her brain little else could be thought of.
When Zotikos and Esasile also joined Imvula, Imvula's sister and herself, Umoya felt a little hope. They would nulify the poison... she'd seen that happen as well. See! They had herbs! herbs were good, herbs healed! Umoya realized she was being spoken to, gaze wandering between the little crowd around her before focusing on Esasile. She swayed as she slowly sat down. "Should I lay down?" Her voice was unnaturally tiny to her own ears, hampered further from the rain.
She moaned in slight hopelessness when Zotikos and Esasile admitted to not knowing how to use the herbs. She tried to search her memories for that part. She whimpered as Simosihle approached, "Please tell me... you know... how to..." She nodded at the herbs as she suddenly dry heaved.
It wasn't long before Simo had put a mixture of the herbs and mud over the area the snake had bit. Umoya was still trembling, scared. Herbs did not always work, sadly. "I feel sick." She admitted, heaving again. She was panting, trying desperately to calm her mind down. "Too many ... should be... searching for the cub.. still." Her wound was attended to, there was no need for so many to still be here. They still had a missing cub out there, after all.

The lioness sighed with relief. Thank goodness Simo had known what to do. Still, Umoya was now in no position to continue searching for the cub "Calm down, Umoya. The cub will be found. But you need to rest. If you keep moving, you'll only feel more sick. And you won't be much help if you feel sick, hm?" The lioness said gently, giving her a quick nuzzle. And the venom could spread and kill her. But Esasile decided to not mention that. Stress wouldn't help either. She sighed, lips pressing into a tight line. "What now? We need to find that cub, but we can't just leave Umoya here on her own, especially not in this storm! And we can't move her unless those herbs kick in." Esasile hoped they didn't have to split up. They needed as many able bodied lions to search for the cub before the worst happened.
