Calanoth Roll: 11 + 1 Size 37ft: -2 Partook in Evmeth’s flight: -1 HP: 14 - 1 - 1 = 12 Total for round: 12 Total distance: 17
Suddenly chaos and ichor. Calanoth swerved to avoid the spontaneous battle between his fellow wingmates and in turn was only grazed by Sereth's own attack as she dove past him. Instead of joining the battlers though Calanoth dove and raced after Sereth, hoping to use their distraction to gain on her instead.
Tolgath Roll: 19 Size 40ft: -3 Hp: 15 - 1 - 2 = 13 Total for round: 19 Total distance: 55
Tolgath had a surprising bit of luck when Sereth went on the attack. He had veered in his flight, his left side beginning to cramp as he fought to compete with the smaller and healthier dragons for height and as Sereth plunged out of the sky he was a little too far to the left to take a proper hit.
There was almost an audible sigh of relief as the large bronze folded his wings and let gravity do the work for him as he plunged past the tangled knot of dragons beneath him.

Sereth Health Points: 14 - 6 - 2 = 6
Well, the green wasn't one to simply take an attack lying down, Sereth would give her that. (+2) She had really expected to be struck back at so that was quite the little surprise. It was daring, there was no doubt about that, but not something Sereth really wanted to encourage.
Now Pycath, him she would encourage. She sent a wave of approval toward the brown. (+2*) Somebody had gotten her message it seemed. At least she wouldn't have to pull another attack and risk getting damaged herself again.
It seemed Malcarreth wasn't in a striking back mood. His reluctance made sense, to a point, but he wouldn't be winning his second gold flight with that attitude.
Once again Regulith spoke to her. Dear Regulith, he was so young. At any other time she probably would have told him that not all flights went this way. It was merely that this was how she wished to choose her mate. Still this was not another time. Instead of giving the youngster the understanding talk she probably should have, Sereth instead sent a feeling of warmth as her indication. If he wished to win this day then he would have to fight just as any other.
Venaith earned himself an affectionate croon from Sereth. (+4*) Whether he had caught her meaning or was simply defending her honour was irrelevant. It was an impressive attack, even if the slight green had managed to nearly dodge his strike.
The remaining males, Calanoth and Tolgath, both had chosen to remain apart from the fray. Conserving their energy perhaps? Maybe they were waiting to take out the other competitors later in the flight. Then again, maybe not.
Her message delivered, and feeling very pleased with herself, Sereth hummed happily. She shifted to surge forward, but hissed suddenly in pain. The gold tumbled, pitching dramatically to the right and fell several feet. Flapping desperately to right herself Sereth let out a pained cry. Forcing her wings out straight the dragon grit her teeth as she glided. She felt Nersha forcing herself forward, searching for answers, the pain breaking through her need. Turning she looked down and saw ichor covering her hide. It was hers. Flowing from the deep gashes in her right hand side. She'd missed it. So caught up on the thrill of her flight that she hadn't even noticed how much pain the claws digging into her flight muscles had caused.
Steeling herself Sereth powered herself upwards. Her muscles screamed in protest as she pushed herself on. Not now, not yet. The hail falling from the clouds seemed to be growing larger. Hitting harder. Striking the open wound in her side and ichor flowed across her body. She felt the strain of the storm now, but she couldn't give up. Driving higher than she had before Sereth threw herself into the clouds, toward safety from the storm. She would break above it. There wasn't much more pain she could take.

Vespeth snorted and ignored the bronze's parting comment. She had no plans on taking over Sereth flight, she hit her she hit back, it was a simple enough concept. She pulled up, small frame fighting the winds and hard hail. She could smell ichor and rumbled slightly.
Sarai snorted, eyes sparkling in amusement and left the young man she had been flirting with, heading that direction. she sent fondly,

He could feel ichor streaming down his back from the wounds left by Pycath's talons but he was sharded if he was giving up now! If nothing else he was going to get level with Pycath and get even. Pumping his wings harder Malcarreth bellowed his challenge to his subordinate, seeking to catch to Sereth's attention too; Perhaps she would be impressed if he took down a foe so much larger than he.

The pain of the hail striking his hide was nothing, the searing of his muscles and the sting of his wounds inconsequential. Malcarreth challenged him and Pycath laughed, the keeness and glitter of his mental voice reaching all the dragons in the sky. he announced to the rising queen, he would hate for her to miss the show after all!

Was that really what she wanted? Perhaps it made sense, times were hard after all, did Sereth not need a champion? Did she-
The young bronze gave a bugle of alarm as he saw his Queen falter, closely followed by a feeling of relief as she recovered. he called and then, though he had nothing against him in the world, he lashed out at his nearest rival.
Venaith Roll: 7 Size 27ft: -3 Last interaction: +1 Sereth's Favor: +4 Hp: 8 - 2 = 6 Total for round: 9 Total distance: 33
The green seemed to have gotten his message as she didn't respond again. Venaith snarled one final time as he dove after Sereth, her croon of approval doing much to lift his spirits and drive him forward. Regulith may talk of doing anything for her but Venaith had acted and that had earned her respect. Just as he had hoped. His faith was not misplaced in her. He would be her champion, her right hand dragon there to do her will without needing to be directed and she had seen that in his actions!
Falling as they were Venaith was helpless to go any faster as he saw Sereth falter in her flight. He bugled out his distress and unfurled his wings, flipping himself around and aborting his dive as she saved herself and started to climb again. From this new perspective he could see the large gashes and ichor spilling from her side. She will pay for what she has done to you! He seethed to Sereth even as his head twisted to find the green among the trail of suitors.
Tolgath (Rolling dodge) Roll: Size 40ft: -3 Hp: 13 - 2 = 11 Total for round: Total distance: 55
Tolgath's relief was short spent as a younger and much smaller bronze suddenly took a swipe at his hide. He let out a blort! of surprise and rolled in the air, twisting out of the way of the worst of the attack.
Even so, the combination of the weather (rain did seem to make him ache horribly and the constant barrage of hail was not helping in the least) the strain of exertion he wasn't used to, and now the dual attacks of gold and bronze were wearing heavily on Tolgath's spirits. He was not a fighter and the bloodbath this was turning into wasn't worth even the most attentive of pamperings. With short gasping breath's burning in his chest and muscles quivering with fatigue Tolgath gave his farewell to Sereth. Lovely queen I must depart, this fight is not for me. Should you wish to lounge with me on the sunny lake shore sometime you would be more than welcome but this evening I am not up to match your spirit. I wish you the best of all who survive. With that he dropped, staggering ungracefully in his flight towards the ground and his weyr. Already he could tell that D'vika had cut her visit short upon feeling the sting of claws tearing his skin. He could only hope that she would be read for him as soon as he entered their weyr.
Calanoth Roll: 4 Size 37ft: -2 Partook in Evmeth’s flight: -1 HP: 12 - 2 = 10 Total for round: 1 Total distance: 18
Calanoth just continued his dive with a determined focus. He wasn't above fighting, in fact he quite liked it, but while they tore themselves apart he would get as close as possible to Sereth. Then, once some of the weaker ones had been weeded out Calanoth would strike at any who remained.
Though as he flew near his wingmates it was difficult not to get a hit or two in. He would restrain himself... for a few moments longer.
Within the obscuring cover of the clouds Sereth could still hear her suitors words to her. Turning she glided through the clouds, staying hidden in the thick grey mass. She snorted softly to herself at Vespeth's comments. Did the green really have so high an opinion of herself? To think that Sereth was really going to cut short her flight because of this? It hurt. Of course it did, but if she really thought that she had the power to overcome Sereth's instinct to clutch then she needed to reassess. Gold's had outlived their riders to bring forth the next generation, Sereth had no intention of leaving the sky now. When her champion was made clear she would and only then.
A roar caught her attention and she wondered who it had been. She couldn't see here, she would have to descend to find out who had let out the roar. It had been one of the males, but it sounded like it had been one of the smaller ones. Maybe the blue had decided to take revenge on his attacker. That was a sight worth seeing. Tipping gently the gold dove, ducking below the clouds, looking around to get her orientation. She hadn't had time to get too far, but far enough to take a glance and see cluster just as Pycath's words reached her. Now there was a dragon that understood what she was after. He was a brown, but brown's had sired well before. If he proved his strength the most today then Sereth would have no complaint towards taking him as a mate. Pycath didn't even seem to see Malcarreth as a threat, Sereth reached out, brushing her mind against the brown's. He was doing well at pleasing her today. (+2)
Regulith's words reached her and Sereth turned her head just in time to see him lunge for the larger bronze. (+4*) As she turned more to see she felt a sharp pain lance through her again. Not staying to see whether his blow landed she drove up into the clouds once more. Panting the dragon looked down at herself, the ichor from her side had now coated her right foreleg. She knew it was worse than it felt. Her need to be caught and clutch well forced the pain away and yet she could still feel it. She felt lighter than usual and her wings were shaking. Flying straight was getting more and more difficult. She couldn't keep powering forward the way she was, and yet still she needed to carry on.
Hearing Venaith's vow Sereth threw a feeling of love his way. (+2) It was becoming hard to focus and it would be no surprise that her ability to target her thoughts were wavering. The feeling of light-headed affection, confusion and determination spilling into the minds of the surrounding dragons. She could not stop. Would not stop. Not until her champion was decided.
The older bronzes words were a relief, one less competitor meant she was all the closer. She sent him her tired feeling thanks. Although she was glad to see the numbers dwindle, he had been an impressive competitor and deserved respect for that.
Focusing on the matter at hand though, it was Nersha that sent Sereth a solution. Use the clouds. Let them aid her, give her some form of respite. They could not see her well here, although the scent of ichor would probably give them some clue. She needed to use that to her advantage. Confuse them. Make them expend more energy than she had to. Sereth managed to let out a roar as signal, before swerving off to travel in a different direction. She would lead them on a game of hide and seek through the clouds. Let them run around trying to find her.

Round 5 Begins!
A new action has been added for this round only. In round five you can choose to play Sereth's game of hide and seek, you can choose to ignore it and roll a d20 as normal or attempt a fight. Roll 3 10d, the closer you are to Sereth's numbers the higher your score. If you get Sereth's number, 10 points. One higher or lower, nine points and so on. You can mix and match your dice to get the best score, they don't have to be kept in rolling order. Any bonuses are added or subtracted from the total distance, not each individual roll.
* = These numbers are now bonuses. The dragon gains this much distance every round. It is gained independently of rolling so if they attack they still get it and if they roll for distance this is added to that.
Example: Sereth rolls: 7, 2, 5 You roll: 4, 10, 5 Match Sereth's 5 to yours = 10 points Match Sereth's 7 to your 10 = 7 points Match Sereth's 2 to your 4 = 8 points
Total points gained for distance = 25 (+/- modifiers)

Much though he hated to admit it Malcarreth was tiring. The foul weather, Sereth's strike followed by Pycath's; they did not add up to a pretty picture. Given he highly doubted that Sereth would choose him - no chance at all frankly - he was tempted to drop out like Tolgath had but the raging fire below that was the other part of him would not permit it.
Well no, they could not. Breath searing in his lungs Malcarreth rose on and upward into the clouds as swiftly as he weary wings would allow, his sharp purple eyes seeking some sign of the disappeared gold.
[Pycath HP: 5/15 Roll: 6, 7, 3 Matching: 7 : 9 = 8 6 : 5 = 9 3 : 4 = 9 Size 32ft: - 1 Partook in Evmeth’s flight: -1 Previous round: 36 Bonuses from this round: +2 Standing bonus: +2 Total for round: 26 + 2 = 28 Total distance: 64]
Pycath purred as he felt the gold's mind brush over him and sent back a wave of understanding; yes, this was how a flight should be. He sent to her the sense of strength, the rush of a fight, and at the end a powerful pair of dragons - streaked with ichor that was their own and others' - spreading their wings out to cover the whole Weyrbowl. Sereth needed the strongest male to sire the strongest clutch, he understood this well and respected it far more than some simpering female seeking a sweetheart. Pycath hadn't really expected to find himself identifying with the rising Queen but now that he chased after her, understood her desires a little better at least in this matter, he most certainly did.
Ahhh, and it seemed it was brains not just brawn she was seeking? So much the better. As Sereth veered off out of sight Pycath focused on the sound of her roar, had it come from-? Yes! From over there, where the clouds swirled in eddies not caused by the wind but - most likely - by the passage of golden wings.
Pycath screeched in response and veered off in the direction he believed Sereth had taken.
As Tolgath dropped out Regulith's eyes flashed yellow for a moment and he - they both, their whole - decided that they must visit him later to make sure he was alright.
For now however the other bronze was not the priority, that was Sereth and they called out to her with strong voices as she called to them. One of them hastened after her as she veered away, strained to see where she had gone; the other stood on the cold stone with the hail stinging against skin, as close to the action as they could be and willing shared wings to remain strong.
Vespeth (Health: 7 Roll: 5,10,5 9, 5, 4 Matching 5 to 5: 10 Matching 10 to 9: 9 Matching 5 to 4 : 9 - 5 Distance: 23 + 27 Total Distance: 50 )
Vespeth murmured, appreciatively. Not something herself would do, she did prefer tackling head on but this was such a clever thing. She skimmed the clouds, rising and weaving, searching for a tell tale hint of gold.
Calanoth Attacking Malcarreth Roll: Size 37ft: -2 Partook in Evmeth’s flight: -1 HP: 10 Total for round: Total distance: 18
To play or to power through the clouds? Calanoth had been playing it headstrong and determined so far and it hadn't won him much recognition or ground at all with the small gold. She seemed to favor the vicious (really she'd made that quite clear) and now that his competitors were tiring here was his opportunity. As many dove into the clouds after her Calanoth joined them but instead of the search for gold he struck at the nearest dragon with barely a low growl of warning. He would take them out now. One by one and be the kast dragon flying when Sereth left her game.
Venaith Roll: 8, 4, 6 Need: 9, 5, 4 Matching 6 to 5: 9 Matching 8 to 9: 9 Matching 4 to 4 : 10 Size 27ft: -3 Last interaction: +1 Sereth's Favor: +4* +2 Hp: 6 Total for round: 32 Total distance: 65
He wanted to go after Vespeth. His stubborn sense of justice demanded it but the pull of Sereth's emotions were strong on the young dragon's mind. Something told him to keep going, that the end and her choice was near and he had to be there for her when it was made. Justice would come later to the green.

Calanoth Attacking Malcarreth
[Malcarreth HP: 4/13 Strike back!: 1 damage]
As he sought Sereth among the clouds a flash of movement in his peripheral vision caught the blue's eye. For a moment he thought it was her, veered towards it, but no; it was Calanoth and he was attacking him. What a big surprise that was! Shocking, truly.
Malcarreth snarled at the brown and twisted in the air to strike back, and though he managed to evade a heavy blow from Calanoth he still felt the brown's talons catch his side.
They hadn't found her, although she had felt the odd dragon come very close. Gliding made her quieter and she had dipped a few times to avoid the approaching sound of wingbeats. Like it or not she couldn't keep hiding. That was no way to choose a warrior. Of course a warrior needed a brain as well as strength. She'd do her clutch no good if their sire was an imbecile. No matter how clever she was, they'd only get half from her, at least that was how Nersha said these things worked. Still, just because they found her by chance didn't make them a suitable champion. She needed to spur her suitors into action once more it seemed. This time though she couldn't possibly attempt to strike at them again.
Revelling in the feelings coming from Pycath the gold sent him a mental nuzzle (+1) before she broke away, once again driving higher, moving over the heavy layer of clouds. She looked down at the group moving through the clouds below. The sight of Calanoth lashing out at Malcarreth thrilled her (+1) and gave her an idea t boot. Sereth didn't like talking in flights. It wasn't really what these things were about. They were about feeling, primitive things that could never properly be articulated into words. Malcarreth struck back and Sereth hummed to herself, perhaps he was not such a lost cause (+1).
Hovering above the group Sereth let out a powerful roar to command their attention back to her. She'd gained some height, but even now she could feel her strength waining. If a choice was to be made, then it must be made now. She was as high as she could drive herself, it was only their strength and their will that could decide the result now.
Quote:
Final Round Begins!
Sereth demands action and we can only comply. This round each dragon can perform 3 actions. Because of this the round will be extended to being a maximum of 48 hours, so don't feel pressured to use up all those actions in one go. You can declare attacks, gain distance or a combination of both.
Responding to attacks doesn't count as an action, so you can respond to an attack and then launch your own and it'll only cost one action. If you choose to take damage and roll distance this does count as it is effectively choosing not to respond and take an action instead. If you want to take damage, but not use an action this is fine, just don't roll for distance and roleplay your dragon taking the hit.
Responses take place before new attacks. So if three attacks land on the same dragon respond to them in the order they were posted and then do your action.
Any dragon who blooded a kill also gets an extra 10 points to distance this round. Good foresight there folks.
