"Oh, hm..." She paused for a moment as she thought over Lovely's question. "Well, I really like books. I am actually more into fantasy novels than anything else. There's just something amazing about being a part of an epic story in a land that is foreign yet welcoming to you." She paused for a moment more. "I also enjoy playing the flute. I really should practice more than I do, but, well, Willow here takes up a lot of my time." She gave the mare underneath her a fond smile.
Chailee was enjoying the sound of the falling snow. The world around them was peaceful enough that the sound of the frozen flakes hitting the branches and iced over snow was quite distinguishable. To her, this whole scene was practically pulled out of a fantasy novel. Two people on their horses, traveling a wooded path, and a snow begins to fall. At this point they'd have to decide to continue on and tempt fate or turn back to avoid getting caught in a snowy, cold miserable fate.
"Hm...what do you think we should do? Turn around and head back or keep going? I don't know how bad this storm is suppose to get and we haven't gotten too far."

Lovely should have kept the conversation going, perhaps by talking a little about himself given that Chailee had left a bit of an opening. It seemed they had more than riding horses in common, for although Lovely had never even held a flute, he enjoyed music and had played the piano since he was small. He could have even used it as an opportunity to brag about his proficiency.
But the moment was soon lost. Lovely nodded to show that he was listening but chose to keep his silence.
At least until he was presented with the choice of continuing on or turning back. Looking up at the sky, Lovely attempted to judge how the weather might proceed. If it continued as it was now, staying out a little longer wouldn't be too bad. If the weather worsened, however, the ride would soon turn miserable.
“I think we should head back,” he decided, turning Clementine back the way they'd come. “The snow could always get worse. I figure it's better to be safe than sorry.”

Chailee sighed but agreed with Lovely and she turned Willow around as well. "I had hoped the weather would keep a bit longer than it did." She glanced upwards at the snow filled sky. Watching the snow come down was somewhat mesmerizing. Suddenly a snowflake landed straight in her eye and she blinked it away as she looked forward again. At this point, her hair was covered in the icy flakes and anything and everything else, that wasn't too warm, was getting a soft coating of snow. Even Willows mane was getting a think coating of snow. "Guess it's for the best though." She said, referring to their decision to turn around as she brushed off some snow on her coat. "It looks like it's going to be a heavy snow." At that point Chay was willing to continue back in relative silence. She just enjoyed the companionship and the beauty that the fresh winter snow was giving the landscape. They, of course, hadn't gotten far on their journey so the return trip didn't take long. By this point though the snow had begun to get heavier and it was obvious that it was probably the best choice they made to return. If they had waited and continued on they may have been rather unhappy teens. Especially with the wind beginning to pick up. Chay wasted no time in dismounting Willo wand leading the mare into the barn where the snow began to melt quickly. Chay hissed slightly as cold droplets managed to find their way down her shirt from her hair. "Well, at least we got the girls some exercise." She grinned at Lovely.

Lovely was not one for cold weather. He was not one for weather in general, but the extremes of bitterly cold and stifling hot bothered him more than anything in between. He shivered under his coat, brushing snow from his hair as they went, wincing at how damp and stringy his hair had become. He should have worn a hat, he realized too late.
He dismounted Clementine after they'd returned to the barn, leading her back to her stable. Once she was settled, he removed the saddle, reins, and the snow sodden blankets, returning them to their proper place. He returned to pet Clementine after, running a hand slowly over her coat and lamenting the lost opportunity. If it had not started to snow, they could have remained out longer.
“We shouldn't stay too much longer,” he said. The snow continued to fall heavily outside. “They might shut down the buses if the snow keeps coming down like it is.”
If only he had his own car.
Well, his sixteenth birthday would pass soon enough. He already knew to expect a car then.

Chailee quickly worked to rid Willow of her saddle, slightly damp blanket and saddle pad. She made sure to hang up anything that was wet so it could dry properly. A quick curry comb and Chailee draped the mare's blanket over her and snapped it shut around her neck. With a smile she rubbed the mare's nose when she heard Lovely mentioning the snow and the buses. "You're probably right." She sighed and gave the mare, who seemed much more interested in her feed, a pat on the neck. Chailee out at a clock that was positioned not too far down from Willows stall."I think the next bus will be here soon." With Willow nose deep in hay and oats, Chailee slipped out of the stall and shut it tight. "Well, I guess we get to go out into the cold again while these two get to stay all dry and warm." She chuckled and pulled her gloves back on and zipped her coat all the way up. She headed out of the barn and began the trek back to the bus stop. The snow hadn't gotten so terrible yet that they should have stopped, but it was certainly building up. With a mischevious grin, Chay reached down and grabbed a handfull of snow and turned to toss it as Lovely with a giggle.

As he had for most of their excursion, Lovely was having trouble communicating. He found he didn't have much of anything to say in response, and he stayed quiet as a result, though he hoped it seemed less like he was socially awkward (he swore he wasn't) and more like he was focusing all of his attention on making sure Clementine was comfortable.
The truth was he didn't know how to hold a conversation, at least one that wasn't at least 95% about him. He didn't like small talk, he wasn't used to asking people about themselves, and it definitely wasn't in his character to be nice to people, particularly people he did not know well. Yet he felt he had to be nice to Chailee, not only because she'd been nice to him but because he felt the need to practice his social graces.
He was never going to get a girlfriend if he didn't.
Once they'd finished up with Clementine and Willow, the two trekked back out into the snow to make their way toward the bus stop. Lovely was about to express his relief that they would not be left waiting long when Chailee lobbed a handful of snow in his direction. Luckily it hit him on the shoulder instead of any place uncovered. It went unappreciated all the same.
Lovely pouted and said, “What was that for?” before kicking a bit of snow in Chailee's direction in retaliation.

Lovely's expression at the snowball she tossed at him almost made her feel bad for doing it. Almost. But his retaliation of kicking snow at her only helped to egg her on and she reached down to gather up more snow. "Because it's fun!" She giggled. Taking the snow she quickly formed it into a ball and tossed it at him again. "Haven't you ever had a snowball fight?" She questioned as she knelt down to gather even more snow in her gloved hands. "It's a lot of fun! And we have time to pass until the bus comes!" She laughed and made the next snowball bigger than the last two. The heavy wet snow made it easy to pack the white stuff into nice, neat balls. Not to mention it made sure that they didn't crumble apart in the air as they were tossed. There was nothing more disappointing than to see a perfectly made snowball fall apart before it could reach it's intended target. "It's sort of like playing dodge ball except there's no real rules if you get hit! I don't like playing with points. I just like throwing." To punctuate her meaning she tossed the bigger snowball at Lovely, making sure that she didn't toss it too hard since the bigger ball could hurt more on impact depending on where it hit.

Lovely, for his part, did not like the idea of a snowball fight, as it meant getting cold snow all over him. He attempted to dodge the next couple of snowballs that were thrown at him, but at least one of them managed to connect with his chest, and another clipped his uncovered ear.
“It is not fun,” he insisted, huffing a bit in disapproval.
“Dodge ball,” he scoffed. “Dodge ball is barbaric. It's a game devised for goons and bullies to exert their power and authority over lesser people.”
One might think, by Lovely's general attitude, that he would be one of the goons and bullies who used the game to his advantage. Normally this might be the case, but as he was attending a new school in a new city, he was in the position of the odd one out, defending himself against people who were more used to the social structure found in a public high school. Suffice it to say, he did not like dodge ball days in gym class.
For now, Lovely made a half-hearted effort to defend himself against Chailee, gathering some snow into his hands and tossing it in her general direction. He didn't bother forming the snow into a compact ball, so it broke apart quite easily. His efforts were minimal at best.
“If you must know, no, I have not had a snowball fight. My older brothers are too sophisticated for silly games, and...”
He almost said he didn't have any real friends growing up, but that made him feel pathetic so he kept it to himself.

Chailee stopped her assault on Lovely when it became very apparent that he was not really trying and certainly wasn't enjoying the game she had engaged. The snowball in her hand was instead tossed into a nearby bush as she blushed slightly. "I am sorry. I didn't realize..." It was true, she had always just assumed that everyone grew up similarly and had at least once engaged in everyday things. Well...seasonal ones too. But here was Lovely in front of her and he was proving her how wrong her assumptions had been. "Well, now you can say you were at least in one?" She tried to sound somewhat optimistic despite the fact that she felt bad about the whole thing. In fact, she was about to apologize again when the tell-tale sound of bus brakes caught her attention. She turned around to see the bus sitting at the stop and the driver opening the door, peering out at them questioningly. "Oh! We're coming!" She hollered before turning back to Lovely. She walked over to him and dusted some of the snow that had stuck to him from their aborted snowball fight. "Come on. This is probably the last bus tonight if it keeps snowing like this. Plus, I think I am ready to get warmed up and enjoy a big mug of cocoa when I get home." She smiled before heading over to the bus. Quite ready to get out of the cold and to head home for the evening. Sunshine Alouette Oh God. I suck for taking 3 months to reply to this. Going to get these two the hell home. XD
