”Ooo!” Nuawahn said, mimicing her and drinking down his juice quickly. ”Yes! Lets go to another place! New places, new faces...” he said in a sing-song voice, ”We're going on an adventure...” he hummed, taking Khalel by the hand and positively skipping towards the exit. He was not inconspicuous, nor did he want to be! Adventures and play were things that were fun, and fun was supposed to be big and vibrant and colorful.
At least for him.
He was reminded, in a flash of memory, of chasing an Alkidike through the jungle... what was her name? What had they been running for? Why? All he remembered was that she had called him Goldie and... yes... she had been the one to braid his hair.
”If I'm the wizard...” he said, slowing suddenly, ”What are you, Khale?” He accidentally mispronounced her name, having said it too quickly, ”Are you a wizard? Or something else?”

Oh, man – this was going to be great!
Her first real adventure; the youngling couldn’t wait!
It was as the pair of them neared the exit of Sulburi that Nua asked his question. It was a good question to ask, in all honesty! If she hadn’t known what she wanted to do, she probably would have had to think about it. There was no need for that, however, and the hybrid promptly responded with, ”I’m a treasure hunter!” A wizard and a treasure hunter. What a team the two of them would make. Khalel could just picture it now: the two of them traveling the world, going on adventures, him doing magic and her finding all the special treasure. They’d not only be rich, but they’d have a great time while traveling, and it would be fabulous. Yet the girl’s thoughts were quickly forgotten the moment she heard a concerned voice call out to her.
”Khalel? Khalel, what are you doing?”
Drat!
She knew that voice anywhere. It was Kalif, her family’s courier, and from the sound of things it seemed as if he wasn’t going to let her go any further. Cursing her bad luck, she shot Nuawahn an apologetic glance. This was not how she wanted things to go. She wanted to go off on her adventure, not to be found out by her family’s mailman. Talk about a killjoy.

”Ooo! A Treasure hunter!” he said, doing a little doubleskip, ”I like treasure! I bet we're going to find some!” Such an exciting prospect! ”An adventure to find treasure...” he sang along in a sing-song way, ”I bet we're going to find lots and lots!”
He turned and frowned at the voice that said the child's name. He studied the Oban with his shimmering blue eyes but of course they were not familiar – this whole city was full of strangers. ”We're going on an adventure!” he said, waving, ”And we're gonna find lots and lots of treasure.” And with that, he tried to continue on with Khalel towards the gate, because that was all the explanation they needed.

”She most certainly is not!”
Normally, Kalif was an easy-going and likeable guy. The courier knew a lot of people around the city, having gotten to travel around so much due to his job. Even her father and stepmother spoke well of him, and if Faelahn spoke well of someone, that was saying something. But when he heard that Nua was going to take the youngling not only on an adventure, but out of the city, he was having none of it. The courier stalked right over to Khalel, grabbed her by the arm, and dragged her along.
”She’s going home, and that’s that. You’re lucky I won’t tell Lord Zaleem on you.” He then shot a glance over in Nua’s direction. Khalel openly winced at the mention of her father. If Kalif told him about Nua and their plans of adventure, it would not end well for the healer. She was lucky it would be kept between the three of them.
”I’m sorry, Nua,” she said, waving goodbye with a saddened frown. ”Hopefully, I’ll see you again, and then we can go on a real adventure! I had fun spending time with you.”
And just like that, the pair of them were gone. Kalif would end up giving Khalel a stern talking to, and the youngling would sneak back into her house. It was too bad she hadn’t gotten out of Sulburi sooner. She had Nua would have had grand adventures, and she would be able to see the world. Oh, well. There was always next time.

”No!” Nuawahn protested anxiously as his new friend was dragged away from him. That was bad! This man was bad! Bad people took kids away against their will! He needed to summon his magic and stop the bad man from taking her away! That was what wizards did, right?
Except, Nua didn't want to hurt anybody, and she seemed... well... she seemed all right with it.
He frowned at Khalel, his brow furrowed in confusion. ”You're going?” It was sad. He was sad. But she was already going, already waving goodbye. Glumly, he waved back at her. ”Bye-bye, Khale...” he said sadly. He didn't know if he would see her again, or even if he would remember her if he saw her.
It didn't matter though. She was gone. There would be no adventure. His mood shaken, he sulked back into the city to find a place to sleep for the night.
He didn't feel like playing anymore.
