And then she was clinging to him, still squealing happily as the kushi kushi ran off in fear.
"Oh Draven, we have to catch it. I want a million of them. A MILLION."
The next moment, the mock raven would find himself released as Mayaa dashed off after it, still giggling excitedly.

Finally- the world stopped moving enough he could actually catch a glimpse of what she was talking about. A minipet. Or the equivalent of one. Or at least he saw it's butt as it scurried away.
And then Mayaa was off after it.
Draven blinked. "But what is it?"
Really, it didn't matter. She was already long gone chasing it. He shook his head, and then took off after her.

Preoccupied in the chase after the mini, Mayaa hadn't realized she had lost Draven in the process. Whoops.

Poor Draven. It seemed Mayaa was much too preoccupied with finding and cuddling the dear life out of those poor things at the moment, and as such, was on her hands and knees, crawling around to see where the little critter had ran off.
"Aww, come on, I don't bite, promise!!"
There was a squeak, and Mayaa turned her head to see a little stone kushi kushi peeking out at her from the bushes.
"CUTIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"
She scooped the little thing up in her arms and gave it a smooch, because it was the cutest.

Draven was looking around, trying to find his harpy friend. Really. This adventure had NO treasure on it thus far.
A whisper caught his attention. Someone was saying something that sounded an awful lot like "kiss the kushi". Draven was confused.

Mayaa was in kushi bliss. The little one wriggled out of her arms and dashed off, but Mayaa knew it had friends. MANY FRIENDS.
She was going to find and kiss them all!!!
Not long after, she found another one, and gave it the same treatment as the first.

Draven stood there scratching his head. All this pink and all the random voices were really disorientating him. That or he'd just gotten turned around...in a maze. He was lost.
And Mayaa was...somewhere. "Mayaa~"

If only the harpy wasn't lost in kushi bliss, she'd remember what exactly it was she had come here for, and with who.
Unfortunately, once minis came into the equation, nothing else mattered. Poor Draven.

Mayaa would never get tired of these cute little critters.
Another one was scooped up with a smooch planted on its forehead. Sweet sweet bliss.

He heard a rustle and turned around. Oh. Not Mayaa, but a little kushi-thing. It had orange on it... Draven remembered the strange voices. "Kiss the Kushi."
He stared at the Kushi and it stared back. It took a curious step towards him.
Something in his brain clicked.
"Mayaa? Is that...you?" It made absolutely no sense. BUT Draven had seen things that made even less sense.
So, he scooped up the kushi quick as he could. "Don't worry. I'll change you back." He could do the heroic thing.
He kissed the kushi.

She would have appreciated the sentiment. Really, she would. That is, if she knew that Draven had thought she had somehow magically turned to a kushi and the spell would be broken by a kiss. Alas, this was not a fairytale and Mayaa was no princess. She did not deserve a prince like Draven. Much too good for her.
Instead of worrying about said friend and that he may have often the wrong idea from the whispering voices, she was chasing after the poor things with elated screeches. The most graceful creature ever.
Another one was running for dear life before she dive bombed it, wrapping it in her arms as she tumbled around.
"Caught you~"

The kushi in his hands squeaked and instead of turning back into a harpy it jumped out of his hands and ran away. "Hey! Come back! I'm trying to help!" He took off after the critter. Perhaps he was not the one to break the spell? Perhaps the voices had lied? Perhaps they were doomed to stay in this land of pink and hedge forever? Draven didn't really like the idea of staying forever. Sadly, though, he knew he could not leave Mayaa behind. He'd have to find her. Which was easier said than done when she was a little rodent. Oh! There! Draven pretty much pounced on the poor little thing. Or he tried to. All he caught was a handful of grass. Kushis kissed: 1

At some point, Mayaa finally realized that she had, indeed, ran off and left poor Draven alone in this vast, pink, maze, and started to feel a little guilty.
Just a little.
She had a mighty need for smooching kushis.

When he turned to keep an eye on the little creature that might have been his friend, he was a little shocked to see a second one darting away, too. There were more than one.
...
There HAD been other students coming through the portal. Oh. Oh dear. This was bad.
"Kiss the Kushi," the voices whispered.
Draven had to help. He had to SAVE everyone.
Too bad the kushi were a just a little bit faster than he was.
He was only trying to help. ;;
