"What made him stop?" Al asked genuinely curious, but then giving in to the dog tattling. "Nuru's being a cocky b*****d right now. Strutting and demanding Laz... do things." He shook his head. "Dog's are weird."

"Getting smacked on the head," Noah grumbled. "I could've got him to stop, I think. But it was, it was distracting." Laz rumbled. Noah ignored him. "It's, that could be a problem." Something he'd have to figure out how to get around; he couldn't fight effectively if Laz was distracting him.
Laz's growl notched up at Al's report that Nuru was being -- well, smug. "Don't tell me that," Noah said plaintively. "He's already cranky enough."

Al laughed, "yeah sorry." He smiled sheepishly, "you do need to find your own way to smack him on the head without getting smacked too." He started to fiddle with a bit of Noah's hair, "I know his pride is wounded... but is everything else in one piece? No bumps or bruises? Nothing that needs rubbed?" Those eyebrows again.

"I know," Noah sighed. "I'll. I'll figure something out." He made a face at Al, relaxing a bit more. "You guys managed to exactly break our shield, so like, congrats on precision I guess."
He gave Al a light, playful shove. "You knocked me down, so you can rub my back," he teased back. "Um, ow." The ow was accompanied by a rolled shoulder and was decidedly unconvincing.

Al playfully razzed Noah and almost took an intentional dive at the shove- but he wanted to take Noah up on that offer more. The 'offer' being Noah's terribly clear attempt at scoring a shoulder rub. He scooted off and around him 'walking' on his knees the entire way. "You know what's interesting?" He reached out to wrap his fingers around Noah's shoulders and rub his thumbs against the tops of his shoulder blades. "This is the first time I've been able to feel you without Laz. Like, um, if my shield was down too - it'd be just you and me and no one else."

Noah pulled his knees up enough to lean his elbows on them, sighing quietly and closing his eyes as his back was rubbed. They shouldn't stay out here too long, he was aware, but he was tired and not inclined to move; he still sort of felt like he ought to feel the searing sharpness of burned skin, even though he didn't. "Kinda," he answered. "I mean, the shield isn't up if there's not anything that's going to hurt you? I guess if Laz was in a golem or something," he said thoughtfully. It was almost a weird thought at this point, the idea of not having the weapon's presence constantly there even when he wasn't paying attention. It had been weird the one time it had happened.

"Golem?" Al asked distantly, only barely following the conversation as the rubbing wandered a bit. First slightly down Noah's upper arms and then down the sides of his back, not straying too far from his arm pits. "Mmmm... I've never thought of putting Nuru in a golem before."

Laz's sulkiness transformed suddenly into an avid, aggressive interest, fast enough to make Noah startle a little and shake him out of the pleasant haze the backrub was beginning to induce. "Laz likes that idea too much," he said warily, "so maybe it's not a good one." He took a deep breath, blew it out in a deep sigh, and started to get up. "Let's go inside."

Al frowned as Noah slipped away from his fingertips but eagerly followed. He slipped an arm around Noah and gave him a careful squeeze from the side. Al was staring at you Noah with large sad eyes.
"Nuru really likes that idea too."

Noah leaned briefly into the hug and stuck out his tongue at the sad eyes. "You can do that again after I don't have sand all over me, deal?"
"Okay it's definitely a bad idea," he decided. "At least at the same time anyway."

"Next time we should spar in a mud pit," Al teased and finally dropped the pout. "Deallll, though I doubt I'd have much left to pout about then." This time his eyebrows decided to dance.
Dibs. Next golem is mines. Will tell him later. Now is not the time.
Yah yah, have fun. Ahm jus' gunna take a nap okeh. Okay.
