It wasn't really a good test of his abilities, but knocking out the Cacnea seemed to boost Hronn's confidence. He bounded back to Evan's feet, cheering wildly, while the male made his way back the way they'd come. With Saga's fall in battle, he realized he hadn't got any revives, so it was back to the Pokemon Center for them. None of them really complained about this, given how uncomfortable the desert was. Luckily for them they managed to escape unnoticed by the wild inhabitants.

Stepping out of the northern gates, leading out of Mauville, it was only a few hours before they finally reached the desert once more. Pulling up his hood, Evan set his goggles over his eyes, Saga doing the same. Hronn seemed less bothered by the whipping sands, himself, no doubt thanks to his added type. Before they entered though, Louhi emerged from his ball, taking a moment to stare at Evan before nodding his head. "I was wondering when you'd come out." Evan replied with a grin. "I got my third badge nearly ages ago." He teased. 'Yes, I'm well aware. That stone.' Louhi sounded pretty serious, so much so that it sort of caught Evan off guard. It was then Evan remembered the stone and the letter he'd found on the ground. Pulling it out, he noticed a rune on the stone... that hadn't been there before. Letting one of his spoons float in the air, the psychic called forth the rune to his hand, floating it over his skins surface. "Do you know what this stone is for?" Evan asked, stepping closer to the psychic. Louhi turned, towards the canyon wall. 'The ruins we were drawing close to before, I sensed something there, but never thought to make anything of it. But that letter you received from that woman, I feel we might just have a new friend in our midst.' A new friend? Well, Evan was eager to figure out who this new friend was. "Alright, then let's go see them." They needed to train while they were here anyway, so as they made their way to the ruins they could fight a few Pokemon along the way.

Starting out their trek through the desert, there was one encounter, Evan wasn't looking forward to. The Cacnea. Last time Saga had suffered from their Pin missile attack, and he'd become painfully aware that his team wasn't really set up to fight bug-type moves, or grass-types for that matter. Aki was far to inexperienced still. Origin could really help out though. He made a mental note that he needed something strong against grass and bug-type Pokemon in the future, meaning he'd need to really focus on Aki as well as some of his other ancient companions.
Just like he'd thought, a Cacnea showed up to block their path. It appeared confident that it could outmatch Evan, like it's friend had earlier. "Origin, you can take it." Evan called forth Origin from his ball. The bulky dino's claws dug into the sand as he opened his maw for a hardy roar. "Use Bite!" Evan called. Origin charged forward, clasping the grass-type in his maw, biting down upon it. Crying out in pain, it was momentarily struck immobile, leaving Origin able to clamp down once more on it's body. With the use of growth it managed to break free, only to be snatched up in Origin's maw once more, and caused even more pain before finally giving in to the dragon's fangs and fainting.

Drawing closer to the ancient ruins, Evan could feel the energy draining from him. The second time in this desert didn't really make it any easier to travel through. Even the determined Louhi beforehand wasn't really keeping himself as energized as before. Thankfully, some refuge came into sight, as the ruins wiggled over the horizon. "Hopefully it's not a mirage." The amnesiac joked.
Before they could figure that out though, a Baltoy made it's presence, calling for a challenge from Saga. An odd one to challenge, but Saga obliged after Evan gave her a nod of approval. Pulling out her blade of glass-like energy, the gecko flew across the sands, landing a harsh blow to the Baltoy, knocking it from the air and onto the sand. It quickly recovered however, running away back towards the ruins. It didn't help that it chose a Pokemon it had a high disadvantage of.

Making it the ruins, Evan was slightly astonished by the over all well put together layout. It was designed with the desert sands in mind, making the structures sturdy to this day. "These are ancient." Evan muttered. As he ran his hand along the engraved pictures designed over the sandstone, a nagging feeling began to burrow though his mind. It soon developed into a dull pain as he made his way into the shade provided by the entrance into the ruins. It felt somewhat cooler inside the ruins than it did outside. Another design taken into consideration. Though before entering, Evan took a moment to admire the carving over the roof of the ruins, a marking that resembled an Ancient Pokemon. A nearby dig site offered some wood for burning, so the group could have a fire going as the night approached. In the desert the temperature dropped drastically at night, leaving some to freeze to death. Some would find that odd, but sadly sand didn't really keep the heat trapped. Evan's headache for the most part lingered, but otherwise had died down thanks to some tea the nearby dig site offered. To think people were actually still around here researching these ancient ruins made Evan feel.. excited? He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but likely his interest was due to the Evangeline's memories. Something he wished he could just force back into his head, but honestly how would that feel? Sometime after the Cacnea trio had vanished back into the desert, Evan had passed out. While he slept, his team settled in themselves, save for a few of his Pokemon. The more nocturnal group shuffled around in their spots. Zoro and Law were two such Pokemon. Zoro, though he'd not entirely showed it... well, he was genuinely concerned for Evan. After all the things he'd seen him go through the past few weeks he'd been traveling with both Eon and Evan. Searching his bag, he found an item they'd obtained earlier, an odd chamber like item. Louhi wasn't ignorant to what the illusionist was doing, and though he didn't entirely agree with the dark-type shoveling through Evan's things, he wasn't entirely willing to interfere either. Snatching a piece of wood from the fire, the fox used this wood to light up what looked to be a pile of sticks on the inside of the chamber. At first black smoke rose up from the oddity, but then it slowly shifted to a whiter tint.
The idea of whether this had been a bad idea became abundantly clear almost ten seconds later when from the shadows, a Houndour leaped into the camp, right into the fire on top of that, sending embers everywhere. One of which woke Saga from her slumber. As she leaped to action, Evan fell back, having been using her as a pillow. "Wha---" The male sat up, finding nearly the whole camp in a panic, the Houndour had companions slowly trickling in from the darkness that surrounded them. The Houndour turned at Evan, snarling it's fangs, with a bold leap forward it threatened to snatch up any part of Evan it could in it's maw, however Saga was quick to step in, using her Dynamic Punch attack to send the fire/dark-type into a full line of other dark-type Pokemon. "W-what the heck?!" Evan shouted, now finally coming to full awareness.

There wasn't anytime to comprehend just what had caused all the dark-types in all of the Hoenn region to suddenly hate Evan, as an Absol leaped forward, trying to grab at Evan as well, Saga felled the feline-esque Pokemon, then grabbed Evan by his arm and pulled him in close. Evan stood over the gecko easily by a few feet, but that didn't stop her from being his shield. She snarled at the approaching Pokemon, all seemingly ignoring Evan's other Pokemon. They were coming for him? Why? "What did I do to make you all this mad at me?!" Evan called out, but they.. were zombie-like in their response. Some growled, some snarled, some arched their back, but otherwise.. none of them responded intelligently. They were being pulled by something weren't they? That's when Evan noticed Zoro nearby the thing he'd gotten from that random trainer back in Mauville. It'd fallen over and the incense inside was spread all around the area, but still the little sticks burned. Evan stepped on one, trying to smother the burning incense, but it was to no avail... the fire kept burning. "Hronn, use Water gun!" Evan called, not entirely sure where Hronn even was. That wasn't the best idea. While the water-type managed to hit the incense, it didn't put them out, but it did put out their fire. Instantly the temperature dropped.

With the dropping temperature, there was little time to think. Evan was already starting to feel the chill in the air. It wasn't even anywhere close to midnight, so they had to think fast. That was when a call came from Evan's left. Saga's grip tightened, and before Evan could of even figured out the call, Saga was leading them to it. Floating down from the sky, a Vullaby tried to act as a barrier between Saga and her destination, however, it was going to stop the grass-type on her mission. With a swift punch, the bird was knocked clean from the sky, how it managed to fly in the first place wasn't entirely on Evan's mind at the time. He could barely see as it was, and he was started to shiver. Seeing the bird wasn't getting back up, Saga once more lead Evan along their unknown path. When they started to go down, Evan noticed that he was quickly being surrounded by walls of some sort. They were going down a ramp and soon enough, a door closed behind them, closing them in entirely.

It wasn't entirely warmer wherever they were, but it wasn't as bad as it had been outside. Evan could hear muffling sounds coming from the other side of the door, likely the rampaging Pokemon trying to break down the wall. "It will not last long" Spoke a voice once more. 'Who speaks?' Evan recognized Louhi's voice. He wasn't to far away either. A small tuft of fur leaped up onto Evan's shoulder, the clunky bamboo collar told him it was Fylgia, though it didn't stop him from initially jumping. It didn't help his nerves any when another sound echoed in the room, but after a second a light flared to life and lit up the room they were in. Evan's eyes went directly to a lady that stood before them, her face was dark, and on her hair neatly tied up in an ancient fashion. Was this a ghost? She looked like she was dressed like an princess of some sort. "Who are you?" Evan asked. She smiled in response. "I am an ally. Come, that door will not hold long." As she said that, another blast broke a hole in the doorway, casting moonlight into the ruins. Evan didn't entirely feel safe following this woman, but what else was he going to do? As they were following after the woman, the door finally broke enough for an Absol to stick it's head into the hole, Saga of course bought them some time with a Dynamic Punch, making the Absol push the other Pokemon back.

Evan really didn't have a choice but to follow the woman. He needed someplace he could actually think, and she held the only light. The male was very certain not everyone was in the ruins either, he counted Saga, Fylgia, Louhi, and Law among them. It didn't seem those Pokemon were after anyone but Evan, but he hoped they wouldn't do anything reckless and end up hurting themselves in his absence.
As they walked though the ruins, the woman lead them by the light of the torch she held. He wasn't certain, but Evan had the distinct feeling they were descending. The air was getting staler, but all together he was getting... warmer? It was nice, given he was only in the Sceptile shirt, his jacket had been left back by their camp. From the way they'd come, another loud crash echoed through the halls, the ceiling rumbled from the aftermath of the blast. They'd likely broke through the door now. It wasn't a comfortable feeling to Evan, but the woman didn't seem all that disturbed. She stopped just head, and Evan soon figured out why. They'd ended up in a large chamber of sorts. The ceiling was high, at least he assumed so, but it was to dark and the shadows were far to thick to really see 5 feet in front of oneself, let along how tall a ceiling was. "Let us shed light on the situation." She spoke, lowering the torch into what looked like a stone brazier. The flame burst to life in the brazier, leaping to three times the size it had been on the torch. It's flames ignited a chain reaction that spread through the rest of the chamber. Candle after candle sprung to life, burning with a collective brightness that left the room entirely lit.
Evan was taken aback by the sight. At the very center of the chamber, a pair of thrones rested. A small colourful lump rested on one of the thrones, the other empty. Behind them the cries of the Pokemon erupted, turning everyone's attention back to the way they'd come. Saga stepped up, blocking the path of another Absol with her fist. She was short, but she stood like a tall wall before the dark-types. Law close behind, he looked more than ready to step in.

An overwhelming amount of dark-type Pokemon began to flood the chamber. Evan was taken by surprise when the woman took hold of his hand and tugged him down a slanted ramp down to the thrones. He tried to fight her pull, but was left unable to do anything against it. Saga and Law were pulled into a cascade of dark-type Pokemon, all seemingly out for Evan's blood. Saga managed to connect her Dynamic Punch to one of them, but that didn't deter the flood. It wasn't until they'd finally reached the thrones, did the girl step forward and hold up her hands, using her body as a barricade between Evan and the Dark-types. It worked.. the woman wasn't all that big, she could have easily been taken down by those Pokemon, but... for whatever reason her standing in their path kept them from proceeding. "You have to wake him!" The woman called. 'Please, wake Aska from his slumber!" Looking down at the bird, Evan gestured at the bird then to himself. The woman nodded. "Please, it's been a very long time, I cannot stand to lose another friend. I know he isn't dead, but I cannot wake him." She looked near tears, and at this point.... Evan couldn't refuse her. Whether this was a trick or not, it just didn't feel right seeing her like that. But if she couldn't wake him? How could Evan?
Up near the doorway, a traffic jam of dark-type Pokemon prevented many from getting through. Saga of course was the main rode block, locked head to head with a Scraggy, literally. The Grass-type only managed to overpower the punk when she suddenly felt a burst of energy overtake her, and within but a few shining moments, she evolved into a Sceptile. Somewhat distracted by this event, Law took his place to cover for the Grass-type.

Before Law could act, he felt something roll to his feet. Looking down, it was the same stone that Saga was still holding onto ( surprisingly), he grinned, happily at this turn of events, putting one foot paw down on the stone, he Karate Chopped a fast approaching Sandile right between the eyes. The Sandile flailed back before eventually flipping over onto it's back, leaving it a ping pong by the other Dark-types trying to approach them.
Meanwhile, down by the thrones, Evan had approached the sleeping Pokemon, finding out it was a bird, a colourful bird at that. "It looks familiar." Evan muttered to himself. Kneeling down beside the throne, his first instinct was to simply clear his throat and ask for it to wake up. That wasn't going to work, after three attempts, each time raising his voice more and more, the bird didn't move. He could see the soft up and down of it's breathing, so the woman was right; it wasn't dead. But why was it in such a dead sleep? Evan tried this time to shake it awake, but again.. nothing. Finally picking it up he dropped the bird back down. It fell in a slump, not even moving to adjust itself. "Don't hurt him!" The woman called from her place. "I don't know what else to do, it's like.... In a coma or something. We need to get it to a Pokemon center." Evan replied, turning to find the woman now actually in tears. "I... I can't lose another one... All my friends... they always leave me." Her stance appeared weakened, a few of the Dark-types slipping through, Flygia leaped down, arching up her back hissing at them did nothing to deter them from Evan's spot. That was until Saga appeared. She'd gotten over her sudden evolution rather quickly, and now stood as another wall between Evan and his impending doom. "S-saga!" The male shouted in exasperation. "You..." He was honestly flabbergasted, to see Saga in this new form, now nearly as tall as him.

Law would of had his hands full with his next foe, if it hadn't of been for his ability to hit even ghost-type Pokemon. A Spiritomb was the said foe, having managed to hobble itself into the room through the tiniest of openings. It was taken by surprise when Law's Karate Chop landed, sending it flying across the chamber. Being pretty scrappy helped out in situations like this. There was no rest for the victorious however, a Carvanha ( Zorua ) slipped though the blockade.
With a swipe of her long tail, the grass-type turned to face Evan with the Dark-types toppled down behind her. She grabbed the male up in a tight hug, and leaped into the air, taking stance on the top of the throne. Her tail hanging low, the scent it wafted seemed to be the key to waking up the bird, at least... for a moment as it opened it's beak and took a mouthful of Saga's tail. She noticed the weight gain, but had really no time to try and shake him off before she noticed the Pokemon behind her approaching quickly. Leaping from her perch, she landed on the other end of the chamber. Law quickly circling around from along the wall, Louhi floated in beside them as well, Fylgia had taken a perch on Saga's shoulder. The woman from earlier didn't really seem to happy about their advance across the throne room. "You will not take him away!! I only want a friend!! Why are they always being taken away from me!!!"
