Personality: Rather chauvanistic, Burdock is of the old fashion mindset- Stallions are the protectors and champions of their innocent, delicate, homebound Mares. A Stallion's job is to produce offspring, protect his herd, and earn the respect of other Stallions. A Mare's job is to stay at home with the foals (and other mares), tend the land and hearth, and look pretty. He's not vain, but he's prideful. He knows his strengths and is not afraid to both use them, and boast of them. He's also a little dim and slow to catch on, but not anything too far below average. He is NOT a fan of marbles as he sees them as a bit unnatural and only fancy bits for foals and fools.
However, he is young and foolish himself. He should be butter between the hooves of an older, more persistent mare. He really is quite strong and capable and would make a good father. He respects his elders and traditions of the herd, and he follows the laws to a T. Perhaps, given the right persuasion, his old fashioned ways could be curbed.
In terms of romance, he's a lot of puff and bluster at first, turning shy and skittish as things progress. He tries to be stately and chivalrous, but he's still young yet, just barely an adult, and is a little unsteady on the romantic hoof.

Burdock's Plots
Ain't that a Kick in the Head
Burdock is used to being scoffed at by the snobby elite, being passed over by the older, stronger Stallions, and being avoided by the young, pretentious Mares. What he's not used to is being admired, by a young foal. Now he has to determine what got the rascal started in this obsession, and how he can shake his new found fan.

Ah, spring. A time for Winter's foals to be born, and Summer's foals to be made, and Burdock is having none of it. He has no interest in swooning about after a snooty Mare all day and all night, wooing her with flowers and marbles and other ridiculous things. Who knew that a Mare just as stubborn and reluctant as him would catch his eye...
Don't look a gift Corm in the mouth
Burdock doesn't frequently find himself in trouble, but when he does, he doesn't expect to suddenly owe a Life Debt to a young Mare. Ruffled and confused, he tries to set his sexism aside to find out what she wants in return, but she seems to be enjoying having him as a personal 'slave' for a time. (He will eventually save her in some way, and of course, will be insufferable about it ever after, but it is fun for the Mare while it lasts.)
Honeydew Save for when he has a pregnant female to entertain
Burdock is a stubborn stallion with a heavy sense of tradition, and his mare knows just how to use that to her advantage. Pretending to have a desperate craving for a rare melon, she sends him off on the Quest of Finding the Honeydew, and along the way, manages to get him to complete a 'honey-do' list of household chores by convincing him that this is how you find these melons (she claims they are magic, and she's just oh so exhausted, the foal is kicking, just can't reach, etc, etc, etc, or she'd do it herself.)

Personality: Selfish and egotistical, Night is a stubborn mare to deal with. She is determined to get her way and will let nothing and nobody stop her. Never one to form lasting connections, she hops from one lover to the next, one friend to the next, using them for everything they'll give her and then tossing them out and moving on to the next (being sure to ruin their life as much as possible first!). She is incredibly manipulative and devious, taking great pleasure in destroying lives and causing trouble. Because of her reputation, she never stays in the same city or village more than once, though in this small world, she is rapidly running out of places to run to and people to bother.
There's not much beneath that cruel mare, but her surface appearance is incredibly deceptive. She acts and speaks and moves like a well cultured, shy young thing, vulnerable and in need of a friend. She speaks softly, rarely making eye contact and almost always keeping her head tucked down shyly when engaging in a conversation. As such, it takes a very long time for others to realize just how much she is deceiving them or how dangerous she actually is.
