Her crimson eyes remained riveted to Relic as she waited for him to spell out what was going on. He seemed so worried, she realized he was working his way up to telling her something, not feeling threatened. She drew in a few deep breaths, she had been working on controlling her predatory side with Jezabelle before her daughter had disappeared again. She knew Belle was dealing with the aftermath of her broken lifemating and spent a lot of time away from home doing some soul searching. Jessamine missed her fiercely, and whenever she left it drag up memories of the first time her daughter had fled from her, but she was not alone anymore. She had plenty of family, and Relic. She had Relic, and she loved him, and that thought along with the deep breaths helped her to soothe the bloodlust from a fierce hunger to a wisp of a thought in the back of her mind.
As Relic began to speak, Jessamine's brows rose higher and higher. She knew Zacharael and Ara's children had not been conceived naturally, but this was the first time she learned that a star had been involved. As Relic reached the climax of his tail, he fell silent. Jessamine's brain was in a jumble, but as he trailed off, a suspicion began to form. By now, she could read him pretty accurately, when he glanced at the willow fronds swaying gently a few yards away, her suspicion grew into certainty. Her eyes were huge with shock, disbelief, and... Longing. She met his gaze once, letting him see she was in control of herself before slowly approaching the branches. They parted like water before her, her gaze fell upon the two gently glowing baskets. Pristine and pure, and... Hers. They looked so much like their siblings' baskets it was clear that wherever they had come from, they belonged to her and to Relic. A second chance! She squeezed her eyes shut against the tears that threatened, and knelt down between them, nuzzling them protectively. Her eyes shone as she looked up at Relic and smiled, "We're going to be parents again.... Together?" She doubted he would have told her had he not meant for her to be involved, but doubt crept into her mind when she remembered the violent episodes that had led her to giving up her other children for their own safety. But she had not hurt Belle, and she had Relic to help her keep control this time... "Are you sure?" she whispered. Sure that he wanted her involved, sure he trusted her with these two helpless souls, sure they could do it right this time.

Relic was still not sure how well Jessamine would react to the revelation that they were parents again. He cautiously followed behind Jessamine worry etched in his expression. From the way that the branches parted for the mare he knew that the baskets would be displayed in all their glory in no time at all. Relic felt his heart skip a beat as Jess knelt down between the two baskets. At first he was not sure what would happen next but when Jessamine gently nuzzled both baskets he felt like he could breathe just a little bit easier.
When her words reached him Relic felt a wave of emotion wash over him. He moved to stand at Jessamine's side. She was still kneeling on the ground and he was careful not to step on her as he looked down at the baskets once more. His voice was steady as he replied to her, "Yes, we will be parents again. I wanted to do this the right way. That means that we'll raise these two foals together, as a family. That was my wish."
Relic gave a soft sigh before letting his head fall to Jessamine's mane. He carefully nibbled along her crest before softly murmuring into her ear. "I am sure that we, that means you and I, can do this. I have faith in you Jessamine."

Jessamine kept staring at the baskets and then looking away as if wiggling a tooth, she kept waiting for the bloodlust to rear its ugly head, but the creature within her breast was still sated, for now.
She listened to his words, her eyes overbright, he wanted them to be a real family! She rested her cheek against the nearest basket, the one with dark marks like creeping fissures radiating across its' shimmering surface. She pressed her nose into the flower blossoming out of the top of the other and inhaled. Both were stained with what looked suspiciously like blood, but her keen sense of smell could detect no hint of that delicious aroma in the air, so she knew the babies were alright. Both Sangria and Belle's baskets had been bloodstained as well and both of her daughters were alive and thriving.
She gazed lovingly at Relic, feeling happy and at peace. This was she had always imagined you were supposed to feel like when you found out you were expecting. Who knew having Relic there would make all the difference? It also helped to know that the rest of the Sinclair family was around to control her, Vincento adored her but he would protect her children from her, she also knew she could rely on Sangria, Eva, and Belle to protect the foals. She could do this! Feeling elated she stood up and leaned into Relic's embrace, "I can't believe they are here ust because of a wish... Its beyond comprehension!" She giggled, "And I won't get more stretch marks... This time, at least." She side eyed him and reached up to give his cheek a kiss.
"How long until we get to meet them?"

Relic watched as Jessamine split her attention between the two baskets. He was still reeling from the shock that the wish he had made had been granted. The stallion gave a sweeping glance around the clearing before kneeling down to give the baskets a gentle nudge. He needed the tactile sensation to assure himself that the pair of baskets was truly there. For some odd reason he kept expecting to wake up, like this was all a dream. He stood as Jessamine rose to her own hooves before smiling.
Feeling Jessamine lean into his side brought back the reality of the situation. These were their newest family members. At Jessamine's question though Relic paused to think. He was unsure how long it would take for the foals to emerge. It was one piece of information that he had never thought to obtain. However if the same length of time was needed for regular baskets then it would possibly be a waiting game.
Relic's heart lightened at hearing the happiness in Jessamine's words. He had been afraid that she would not have approved of his decision but it seemed like she was on board with everything. It warmed him. The stallion gave a quiet chuckle before feeling Jessamine's kiss. He sucked in a lungful of air before speaking softly.
"I'm not exactly sure. I forgot to ask Zacharael how long it took for his daughter to emerge. I feel though that the foals inside are restless and want to come out soon. It is just a feeling I have though."
FaithoftheFallen Sorry for the wait. Do you think we should pop the baskets soon?

Jess smiled at the thought of Zack and Ara, it had been wonderful when they decided to come live with the rest of the family, she hoped they would stay, it seemed odd to consider asking one of their descendents for parenting advice, but it was a good idea.
One of the baskets gave a tremendous lurch, Jessamine gasped, flinching. Was this normal? She had never actually spent much time with any of her baskets. Belle had emerged from her basket while Jessamine was out hunting, she nudged them both in concern. She was still gunshy about knowingly attempting parenting despite her excitement. She wasn't sure she was ready, she knew she couldn't keep the baskets safe from herself and would have to count on Relic to protect them from her at times. As both baskets began to vibrate and buck, Jessamine's breaths began to come in short gasps. She wanted to run, she wanted to.... bite.
No. She couldn't control the beast within, but she could make it easier for others to control her. She stared at her cleaver, pupils dilating at the effort this was costing her, and knocked it hilt-first towards Relic. "Take it" she growled, suppressing the desire to spill his blood in payment for the sacrifice she was making. "hide it. If you give it to one of the familiars, they can take it even farther. If I don't have it, I can't use it on you... Or them... It will be safer." How would she hunt? How would she spill the hot... fresh...sweet...
The baskets shook. Jessamine squeezed her eyes shut. She didn't want the beast to rule her in this moment. She knew she was bringing it forth by hiding its favorite weapon, but she felt certain she was making the right choice. It felt as though she was giving away part of her soul, letting others handle something so private and precious made her feel dirty, but it must be done.
"Take it" she urged, keeping her eyes shut she edged closer to their children as if their presence were her only lifeline.

The desperation that Jessamine's voice carried alarmed Relic. The fact that she wanted him to take her weapon was even more alarming. Seeing the baskets lurch back and forth had momentarily paralyzed the stallion. He had gone through this though with Sangria and knew that there was a little bit of time in which he could find one of the familiars that Jessamine was talking about. The stallion was already thinking about Jess's owl familiar Cleaver. She would be the best bet to get Jessamine's weapon far away from her. Relic eyed the baskets once more and then dropped down next to Jessamine. His words were soft and urgent as he nuzzled her. "I will be back as quickly as I can. Stay strong Jessamine. I believe in your strength."
With those words spoken Relic picked up Jess's weapon and rose to his hooves before taking in the baskets lurching before galloping out of the area. As soon as he was clear of any visible obstacles Relic dropped the cleaver from his mouth and called out for Cleaver. He would assume the owl would be within shouting distance of Jessamine. It was a fact that he was counting on. He trusted that Jessamine would hurt herself before hurting the foals nestled inside the wicker containers but he wished to see their children emerge while stationed at Jess's side.
Once more Relic called out for the owl. Where was Cleaver?
(( Figured I'd start the process of Cosette trying to get out )) The basket that had cracks spiraling around its base also lurched in a particular manner. The foal inside struggled against the wicker covering that had kept it safe for the longest time. However now she wanted out. Her spindly legs kicked repeatedly at the sides of her "prison". Exhaustion won out over her body before she could find her freedom. Giving a small mewling sound of complaint the tiny form let the exhaustion wash over her. The basket fell silent as her legs quivered from the lashing that had been delivered to the side walls. Her eyes could not exactly see the wall but she glared at it none the less. She could hear voices murmuring on the outside and she wanted to see who was making them.

Jessamine huddled near the bucking baskets, panic flooding her senses. She returned Relic's nuzzle but didn't open her eyes, if she kept them closed she could still pretend her Cleaver was nearby, Jessamine bared her teeth in a silent snarl. It was hers. Cleaver watched the scene unfold, concealed within the leafy boughs of a nearby tree. She clicked her beak and ruffled her feathers in displeasure when the baskets had been revealed. Jessamine had doted on the owl before having foals with Relic, then Cleaver had gone from treasured companion to babysitter, trapped with Belle while Jessamine got to go out hunting. Cleaver still loved Jessamine, but she was jealous of the baskets that would now consume most of her mistress' attention, at least until they were grown. For that reason she took her time responding to Relic's call. He wasn't her master, she was not a tame owl to come and go according to just anyone's whim.
Still, she followed him as he gallopped away, ghosting from branch to branch, keeping him in her sight. When he called for her again, she reluctantly glided into view, her sharp little beak preening an errant feather as she waited for him to beg for the favor she already knew he would ask of her, having overheard everything, Cleaver was enjoying the attention.
"Yes?" she hooted innocently, "You called?"The foal within the other basket lurched, kicking against the tightly woven walls as she tried to stretch stilt like legs that were growing stiff from their cramped position. Thrashing a small hole appeared in the top of the weaving, soft starlight penetrated the basket to reach the filly's eyes for the first time. She stared at it in awe for a few seconds and then resumed her fight in earnest, kicking repeatedly in the same place, her basket began to weaken, the fibers buckling and splitting against her hooves.

Relic was beginning to wonder if he would have to find another familiar to take Jessamine's weapon further away and while he was busy with remembering the name of Sangria's familiar he realized that he was no longer alone as he had been moments before. Cleaver had arrived. The stallion gave the owl a brief nod before sighing. "I called you Cleaver because Jessamine wishes for you to hide her weapon once more. I would appreciate it if you could do this task for her but I know that you have no reason to listen to any request I make."
Relic's head turned to the direction that he had just traveled from and gazed back to Cleaver. "I know you also are not fond of my intrusion into Jessamine's life but I cannot undo what has been done. Please could you grant Jessamine's request and take this object far away for her and also for me?"She was at it again. Her spindly legs stretched against the wicker walls as she tried to free herself from the cramped feeling of claustrophobia that was beginning to creep into the edges of her awareness. She wanted out. No scratch that; she needed to be out. The air was growing heavy with her exertions and suddenly her legs broke through the wicker. A breath of fresh air circulated around her small form and gave her the energy to keep at it. Her head connected with the covering above her and with the force behind the hit the lid flew off unexpectedly. The little filly felt the cool air caress her whole body and she shook at the sudden chill before realizing that she was no longer trapped. Still ... it was far too much and she ducked her head back into the basket.

The filly heard the jagged rip of wicker, at first thinking it was her own basket, she stopped kicking for a moment to peer at it, but although it was vastly weakened, she had not yet broken through. She thought about it, and realized the sound had come from nearby, but outside. Excited now, she lashed out with all of the strength she could summon and tore a giant hole in the side of her basket. She squirmed her way free of the mangled fibers and glared back at the offending basket with murder in her crimson gaze. She kicked it one more time for good measure and sent it tumbling away from her to hit a rock and split open the rest of the way as easily as an overripe melon. Her eyes narrowed, and she resisted the urge to attack it with her teeth. Her desire for vengeance mostly sated, she examined the new world around her. The air ruffled her mane and cooled her as it hit the sweat from her exertion. Her small tuft of tail flicked back and forth in sudden excitement. World. Her small mind instinctively supplied her with the name of this huge place, she thought it was a lovely name. She glanced down at herself, a creamy body that faded to dark brown socks and pearly white hooves and jutting out of her chest a vivid cluster of bright red petals, she sniffed and smiled at the warm fragrant scent that filled her nose. She glanced to her side and spotted another small creature like her, her coloring was similar, but spindly cracks webbed their way across her small body. "Sister" she chimed, and started a little at her unfamiliar voice. Then, glancing around she saw a much, much larger version of the both of them, her eyes widened in adoration of the mare gazing down at them, clearly startled, but also happy. "Mama!" she cooed, winding around her mother's legs like a kitten and nuzzling her small head against her smooth fur.Cleaver remained expressionless as she listened to Relic's request. She knew what he wanted of course, but she didn't want to admit she had been eavesdropping. Sighing heavily, she shrugged her wing feathers and made a long show of carefully considering his request, enjoying being difficult. Cleaver really wasn't that nice of a bird, her loyalty began and ended with Jessamine and she viewed almost everyone else as beneath her notice. She paid attention to Jessamine's family and mate only because of their connection to her mistress. "Very well," she grumbled finally. Spreading her wings, she glided silently to the ground at his hooves and wrapped her deadly claws around the handle of her namesake. She would hide it well and then return, her mistress would never find the blade until Cleaver fetched it for her, and since Jessamine would think Relic had hidden it, she wouldn't think to ask her own familiar where the blade was hiding. For if she asked, Cleaver would certainly fetch it for her, she liked it when Jessamine hunted, it scared the small game out of their hidden holes for the owl to hunt. She gave her wings a mighty flap and hefted the cleaver into the air, flying lower than usual and without a backward glance or a farewell, she disappeared into the distance to hide the weapon where it would never be found.Jessamine was still preoccupied with thoughts of her missing blade when a sudden loud rip followed by a second crack of wicker announced the arrival of their foals. Glancing down in surprise, thoughts of her knife fled from her mind momentarily. Two dainty little fillies gazed up at her with unwavering adoration. Her heart melted, mine the beast within growled with satisfaction. "Relic?" she called nervously, unwilling to be left alone with their beautiful children for too long, even without her blade. She doubted she would hurt them now, but she didn't trust herself around such helpless souls, a moment of lost control and their blood would water the flowers in her clearing. Speaking of, she stroked the roses poking out of the second filly's chest in fascination and gently nuzzled the cracks that wove through her other daughter's soft baby fur. Where had those traits come from? Was this more magic from the star? And would it prove to be a curse or a blessing? Either way, she would protect them with everything she was... And from everything she was.
"Cosette." she murmured lovingly as she caressed one daughter, "And Coquette." Jessamine smiled to herself, happy with the way the names rang together, these sisters belonged together, and would grow up together, unlike their other children. She hoped Relic wouldn't mind the names.

Relic was holding his breath as Cleaver debated his request. There was no love for Jessamine's familiar making him wait while she shuffled from foot to foot. Finally she acquiesced to his favor and picked up the weapon. Relic watched the owl take flight and only once she was but a speck in the sky did Relic turn around and head back towards Jessamine and the two baskets. He only could hope that he had not missed the emergence of his foals.
At a quick pace Relic closed the distance from where he'd called for Cleaver before skidding to a halt at the willow. Jessamine was lying on the ground and nestled beside her seemed to be two new fillies. His face fell at missing the actual important moment but he quickly moved closer to Jessamine and gazed adoringly at the sight of the fillies nestled close to their mother. It was only right that such a sight would warm him greatly. "Jessamine, the task you asked of me is done." Relic gently touched his muzzle to each of his new daughters. "Who do we have here?"The little filly had heard the chiming sound of another small body nearby and peeked her head out from the rim of her basket. Seeing the owner of the voice emboldened her to leave the remainder of her basket. She whinnied briefly and kicked out at the empty shell now before winding her body nearer towards her sister. It was at that time that she spotted the larger form of another body nearby. The filly startled and stumbled backwards before the larger one spoke. Feeling a gentle caress the filly leaned into it before hearing a strange name come from the what she was beginning to think of as her mother. 'Am I Cosette?'FaithoftheFallen ~*apologizes*~ Brain has literally not let me tag this for a while.

Jessamine closed her eyes in relief and pain, but knowing the cleaver was not within reach greatly soothed her worry over the girls' safety, especially with Relic back, he would not let her harm their newest daughters. Her face glowed with pride and some trepidation, she nudged the paler filly towards her father, lightly stroking the cracks that criss crossed her fuzzy body. The star had twisted their children, this was the first time Jessamine had experienced the occurrence, none of her other children had such mutations, but many of their other descendants had been touched by spirits within their baskets. "This is Cosette," Jesammine murmured, the trace of a growl was not entirely from the emotion flooding her chest. "And this is Coquette," she finished, pushing her darker daughter foreword, the blossoms rustled with the filly's awkward stork like progress towards her father."Papa!" Coquette chimed, twining around her father's legs in greeting, her small tail flicked around in a storm of excitement.Kettyn Sorry! My muse gets so. bad. this time of year! Relic's gaze tracked the filly that twined around his legs and then his ears caught the names that Jessamine had given them: Cosette and Coquette. Rhyming names was something new. Relic chuckled softly as he nudged Coquette's side. His gaze met Jessamine's and he felt as if something inside was telling him that life was complete. With a quick motion he herded Coquette back towards her sister and stood just watching the fillies explore their new world. The stallion had taken in the strange intricacies that seemed to have afflicted the girls with a cautious eye but it did not seem to bother either filly.
Without much preamble Relic murmured his daughter's new names to himself and went to stand beside Jessamine, "our daughters are healthy and we are a family." He nuzzled Jess's side. His heart was bursting with joy. He watched as the two foals clambered around before settling down into the grass. "I think our daughters are a little tired already."
His eyes glowed with pride at the scene and he lowered his voice and brought his mouth close to Jessamine's ear, "thank you my love."FaithoftheFallen I think we could call this done. We could start a new one down the road.
